Creating New Listen Only Caller Applications

Starting the Caller Applications Design Tool The Caller Application Design Tool can be installed on the MAS (Message Application Server) or it can be installed on a Remote PC. Start the Caller Applications design Tool by clicking on [START], [PROGRAMS], [AVAYA MODULAR MESSAGING], [CALLER APPLICATIONS]. The following screen will be displayed. Creating a New Caller Application Start the process of creating a new Caller Application by Right Clicking on [MODULAR MESSAGING SOFTWARE CALLER APPS]. From the newly opened pull down menu select [NEW] and Click on [CALLER APPLICATION].
The following New Caller Application box will be displayed: Fill in each field in the New Caller Application dialog. 1. Application Name Assign a name to your new caller application. This name will be used to identify your application. It may be helpful to include the number of the mailbox that will be used to access this Caller Application. 2. Application Description Optional - Describe your application. You may want to include a script for your application, where the recording will be stored (Announcement and mailbox or, Prompt). 3. Language The default System Prompt Language will automatically be selected. You may select a different language for System Prompts if installed. 4. Design for VMD Click on this box and select the voic system that this Caller Application will be assigned to. Choosing the voic system will make sure that your Caller Application conforms to the numbering plan of the voic system it is being designed for. 5. Click on [OK]. You will be returned to the main Caller Applications screen. Notice that your newly created Caller Application will be shown under the caller applications list below the [Deployed applications] item. You will also notice that icon color and flag alerts you to the fact that this caller application is not yet complete. Notice the RED icon and the YELLOW flag.
You will need to further define your Caller Application. Right click on your Caller Application and select [Properties]. The Properties dialog will be displayed. Assigning Properties to your New Caller Application You still have several steps to completing your new caller application. For this example we will be creating a Caller Application that plays an announcement then disconnects the caller.
Select [Termination] from the Action Type Menu. The Properties dialog box will change as follows: Select [Disconnect] since you will be disconnecting the caller after they hear the prompt. Selecting the Prompt to Play You will now need to tell the system where the prompt will be recorded and stored. Select the [Prompt] Tab. Tell the system you will be playing a prompt by selecting and Clicking on the [Play entry prompt] box. Tell the system you will be using an Announcement by selecting and Clicking on the [Announcement] box.
You will need to tell the system which mailbox will be used to store the Announcement and the announcement number. Click in the Announcement Number box and enter an unassigned announcement number. Click in Mailbox pull down to the right and enter the number of the mailbox where your announcement will be stored. The system may ask you if you would like to add the mailbox. Answer yes. This simply adds the mailbox to the database of announcement mailboxes. It does not actually create the mailbox. Click on the icon that looks like a speaker with a plus (to the right of your mailbox number). This will add your announcement to the application and allow you to enter comments regarding the prompt.
Click in the [Comments] field and type any desired comments. Click on [OK] to complete the Properties of your Caller Application. Notice that the color of your Caller Application has changed from RED to YELLOW and that the RED tag is no longer associated with your application. You now have three steps left to complete your Call Application. The next step is to SAVE your application. This saves a copy of the application to the machine that you just created it on.
Right Click on your Caller Application. Select and Click on the [Save Application] menu item. Select the name and location that you will use to save the caller application file on this machine. Click [Save] to complete the process. A copy of the caller application file is now saved on the machine it was created on. You can open this file in the future to make changes. Remember you will still need to Deploy your Caller Application and Record your Announcement.
Deploying your Caller Application So far you have created and saved your Caller Application. It now needs to be Deployed to the MAS (Message Application Server) that actually answer calls. To start the deployment process Right Click on your Caller Application. Select the [All Tasks] items. Select and Click on the [Deploy caller application]. This will start the Caller Application Deployment Wizard. Select and Click on [Next] to start the process. The Wizard will ask you confirm the name of the MAS Server that your Caller Application will be deployed to.
Select and Click on [Next] to confirm the MAS Server. The system will now download and deploy your caller application. You will see the following screen if the application was deployed successfully. Select and Click on [Finish] to complete the process. You still need to tell the MAS which mailbox will start the Caller Application and you will need to log onto the mailbox and record the announcement to complete the process.
Recording an Announcement for your Caller Application In the steps above you told your caller application that you would use announcement one in mailbox Complete the following steps to record the announcement for your caller application: 1. Call the voic system. 2. Logon to the mailbox that will hold the announcement. (In this case it is mailbox 5683) 3. From the mailbox main menu - Press 5 Personal Configuration. 4. Press 2 Administer Caller Application Announcements. 5. Enter a announcement number 1 99(In this case it is announcement number 1) 6. Press 2 to Record. 7. Press [#] to end recording. 8. The announce you just recorded will be played back: a. Press [1] to Accept. b. Press [2] to Rerecord. c. Press [3] to Delete. 9. The process is complete when you have recorded and Accepted the announcement. The final step is to create an association between your caller application and the mailbox that will start the application. NOTE: This document assumes that you have created the mailbox that the Announcement will be stored in as well as the mailbox that will start your caller application (These are usually the same mailbox). The system can support 120 deployed caller applications. Creating an Association to your Caller Application So far you have created the caller application, deployed it to the MAS and recorded the announcement. The final step is to tell the system when the caller application should be used. This is done by creating an association between your caller application and the number that will start the application. Double Click on [Deployed applications].
This will display a list of any available MAS servers. In this example the only available MAS is named RCTUM01. Double click on the name of the MAS server you will be creating the association in. The following screen is displayed: Double Click on the [Associations] item. The list of current associations will be displayed. To add your new association Right click below the list of association names. The following menu will be displayed: Select [New] then Click on [Association]. The following dialog will be displayed:
Choose your caller application from the pull down list. Enter a unique name in the [Association name] field. Enter the number that the voic system will be presented when you want this caller application to run. Click on [OK] to complete the association.
Your new caller application will now appear in the associations list. To delete the association simply Right click on the Association Name and select [Delete] from the menu.
