General Overview Dear Sirs, we are pleased to announce the introduction of DataVS2 Professional (PRO), the new model of DataVS2 series that merges inspection functionalities with identification capabilities in a single device. The huge range of available inspection tools makes DataVS2 PRO the most flexible vision sensor on the market. Thanks to 6 different locators and 12 different controls the device allows to solve even the most challenging applications in a simple and intuitive way. DataVS2 PRO combines together all the functionalities already available on AOR and ID models. The vision sensor also includes three new tools based on edge inspection: 360 contour match locator for an accurate and reliable object location, 360 defect finder for detecting even the smallest defects on a part and 360 contour counter for multiple item presence verification. The combination of Auto-ID and inspection capabilities together with new contour-based matching tools broaden the applicative scenarios dramatically thus making DataVS2 PRO the one-for-all solution for every quality control. 4 1.1 Product Highlights Ease-of-use The DataVS2 Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows to set up the device in three simple steps. The software leads the customer during the configuration process thus avoiding tricky and time-consuming operations. Extreme flexibility Thanks to 6 different locators and 12 different controls, DataVS2 PRO represents the one-for-all solution for every machine vision application. The user can easily combine different tools in order to inspect the production thus getting higher levels of quality. Adjustable focusing The focusing distance can be easily adjusted through the frontal focus knob. The user has simply to turn it in order to change the operating distance. Moreover, four different focal length versions are available thus guaranteeing the maximum flexibility in terms of operating distance and Field Of View (FOV). Embedded Ethernet and RS-232 interfaces DataVS2 PRO integrates built-in Ethernet and RS-232 interfaces which are available on the two industrial M12 connectors. Compatibility with VSM (Vision Sensor Monitor) DataVS2 PRO is able to communicate with the VSM, a monitoring device compatible with all the models of the DataVS2 series. This external unit allows to display the acquired images together with the results as well as to fine tune the configuration parameters. 20 memory slots DataVS2 PRO allows to store up to 20 different inspections which correspond to 20 different configurations. Once stored on sensor memory, the different recipes can be re-called by sending commands to the device as well as through the GUI or VSM. DataVS2 PRO - Product Announcement 4 of 23

3. Technical Data and Parameters 3.1 Configuration Software The DataVS2 PRO can be configured through the standard DataVS2 Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The software is compatible with all the devices belonging to the DataVS2 series (i.e. also OBJ, AOR and ID models) thus simplifying the configuration process and enhancing the product family feeling. The GUI also integrates an emulator which allows to simulate the sensor behaviour even if the vision sensor is not connected. The DataVS2 GUI is now available in 5 different languages (English, German, Italian, French and Spanish) and it can work with different Operating Systems: Win XP, Vista and 7 (only 32bits). Moreover it features 5 new software tools (3 locators and 2 controls) listed in the table below: Locators Barcode The barcode locator allows to detect the position and orientation of a linear barcode and to re-locate all the other inspection controls accordingly. Datamatrix The datamatrix locator allows to detect the position and orientation of a datamatrix code and to re-locate all the other inspection controls accordingly. 360 Contour Match The 360 Contour Match allows to find a reference template in the Region Of Interest and re-locates all the other inspection controls accordingly. how many objects are inside a specific searching area.

This new version introduces some important improvements and new features for all DataVS2 vision sensors. Old units can be easily updated through the GUI and automatically get the functionalities listed below. EAN-128 The EAN-128 code symbology has been added in the barcode reader tool. Now DataVS2 ID and PRO models are able to read also this kind of linear barcodes. Image saving on condition The GUI version allows to specify a PC folder where the acquired pictures must be saved. The user can also set a maximum number of stored pictures and thanks to the logical tool panel also the image saving condition (only for AOR, ID and PRO models). This feature represents an important debugging functionality since it allows to monitor the vision sensor behavior especially during the start-up phase. 23 DataVS Demo Suitcase In order to promote the DataVS2 PRO, Datalogic Automation has introduced the new following demo suitcase: VISION SUITCASE WITH PRO CAMERA & VSM Suitcase with professional vision sensor (DataVS2-08-RE-PRO), Vision Sensor Monitor (VSM) and external illuminator (SIL SPOT RED FLOOD).
