2 Wednesday JUNE 15th 9:00am - 4:00pm Freescale Semiconductor - Android and Linux on the NEW i.mx53 processor (full day session) In this hands-on class, attendees will learn how to get Android up and running on the Freescale i.mx53 Quick Start board. They will also learn how to build a Linux host environment and to build Linux/Android kernels, drivers and applications. Laptops and i.mx53 Quick Start boards will be provided for the training class. Attendees will receive a coupon to purchase the new i.mx53 Quick Start board ($149 value) for a discounted price of $99. BYOAP - Bring Your Own Android Phone (if you have one). The VMWare image of the host Linux environment used in class will be posted at and so attendees can develop Linux or Android applications for the i.mx53 on any Windows-based computer. Freescale Semiconductor - New Kinetis K40-based Tower Development Tool In this hands on session, you will be introduced to the features of the Freescale s Kinetis ARM Cortex M4 family, their features, the complimentary MQX RTOS, and development tools. You will use the Tower K40 board with LCD to understand the key concepts of Tasks in MQX, how to manage priority level and inversion. As well you will understand the build process, and how to program and debug your application using an RTOS aware debugger. Renesas - Extreme (RX) MCU Architecture and LCD Software Solution for Driving a Color TFT-LCD Panel This session will provide a brief introduction to the #1 MCU vendor in the world. Technical details will be provided on the industry s first 200-MHz MCU architecture: Renesas next-generation 16/32-bit platform, called Renesas Extreme (RX). The presentation describes the RX s best-in-class performance, superior code density, unique peripheral features, and ability to provide high throughput while consuming minimum power (500μA/MHz). The second half of the session provides a hands-on introduction to the use of the Renesas Rx MCU to directly drive an LCD. The session is divided up into three parts, each focusing on different aspects of the solution: developing icons, creating animation and implementing event activation. Detailed instructions are given for the achievement of specified objectives. Participants are also asked to find their own solutions to other problems.
3 That compatibility lets customers reuse and build upon engineering investments made when applying the products in our current MCU lineup. Finally, the session highlights our commitment to keep adding enhanced MCUs to our existing product lines by boosting speeds, decreasing operating voltages, cutting power consumption, and adding flexible peripherals that provide smooth MCU migration paths. System engineers applying MCUs in the Renesas RX600 family gain advantages by using the RX Peripheral Driver Library (RPDL) and the RX Peripheral Driver Generator (PDG). This session explains what the RPDL and PDG are and how they can be used to speed up development work and make it easier. The hardware platform used for the lab demonstrations is the RX board, which uses an RX6xx MCU. From personal devices to industrial systems, data transfer and control is critical to success. Two of the most widely deployed wired solutions are USB and Ethernet. This session helps embedded designers understand the challenges of using either of these communications standards in their applications and Microchip s complete solution for easy integration. Embedded engineers are increasingly being asked to add wireless communication to their systems. Each new implementation requires the designer to understand varying system needs such as cost, performance and interoperability. This session also presents alternatives to solve this problem: the interoperable ZigBee protocol, the proprietary Microchip MiWi protocol and the ever present WiFi. Attendees will be shown the differences between these protocols and learn about the products and tools used to implement solutions. National s new Sensor AFEs and WEBENCH tools allow designers to rapidly configure an AFE for a multitude of sensors (temperature, pressure, chemical, etc.). The LMP90100 is a highly integrated, multi-channel, low power 24-bit Sensor AFE with a low-noise programmable gain amplifier and a fully differential high impedance analog input multiplexer. A true continuous background calibration feature allows calibration at all gains and output data rates without interrupting the signal path. The background calibration feature essentially eliminates gain and offset errors across temperature and time, providing measurement accuracy without sacrificing speed and power consumption. The LMP91000 is a programmable Analog Front End (AFE) for use in micropower electrochemical sensing applications. It provides a complete signal path solution between a sensor and a microcontroller that generates an output voltage proportional to the cell current. The LMP91000 s programmability enables it to support multiple electrochemical sensors such as 3-lead toxic gas sensors and 2-lead galvanic cell sensors with a single design as opposed to the multiple discrete solutions. The LMP91000 supports gas sensitivities over a range of 0.5 na/ppm to 9500 na/ppm. It also allows for an easy conversion of current ranges from 5µA to 750µA full scale. New 2nd Generation Power Modules from NSC. Product overview, design tools and evaluation board information.
