This is a supplement, not a change, to the ES manual. The assembly regulation of the ES manual takes varying thermal characteristics and requirements of ES1000 boards into account. This improves the thermal distribution in the overall ES1000 system. ETAS recommends you adhere to this assembly regulation, particularly in the case of ES systems used in high ambient temperatures. This assembly regulation applies to all ES products supplied for use in an ES system. All other information and the technical data contained in the ES manual remain valid. 2 1 Appendix 1.1 Assigning Slots in the ES1000 System Ensure you use the slot to the right of the ES slot in accordance with the following regulation: Do not use the slot or Only use the slot with ES A, ES1300.1, ES or ES boards. The assignment of the slots according to this assembly regulation optimizes the thermal distribution in the overall ES1000 system. Typical examples of ES1000 system configurations are explained in chapter to chapter These examples are taking the assembly regulation into account ES1000 Systems with one Controller Board (ES1120.x or ES1130.x) If an ES1000 system only has one system controller board (ES1120.x or ES1130.x), this board is always accommodated in slot 1. Interface boards can be used in all other slots in any order ES1000 Systems with one Controller Board (ES1135.1) Fig. 1-1 on page 2 shows an example of thermally optimized assembly of the ES1000 system with only one system controller board (ES1135.1). This example assumes that a maximum of five further slots of the ES1000 will accommodate interface boards. Appendix 1

Do not use slots 1 and 3. To accommodate interface boards in the ES1000 system Interface boards must be accommodated in slots of the ES1000 system in descending order (slot 9, slot 8, slot 7, slot 6, slot 5). Slot 1 must not be used in the example shown in Fig. 1-1 on page 2 because the system controller board (master) only recognizes boards to the right of its own slot. 4 To accommodate additional interface boards in the ES1000 system If other slots of the system are to be used, ETAS recommends that slot 4 be used for interface boards with relatively low power consumption (e.g. ES1300.1, ES1310.1, ES A, ES1325.1). Slot 3 must not be used in this configuration!
