Allgemeines Blockdiagramm Inbetriebnahme Technische Daten AS-Interface Anschlussbelegung LED Anzeige Mechanische und Umgebungsdaten Normen General The AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway is a slave for the fieldbus system AS-Interface. It is designed to the specification V3.0 and may be configured in the extended address mode. The profile is S-B.A.*.5 (CTT2), a serial communication protocol is implemented. The AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway is intended for the connection of devices with an RS232 interface (large text and graphic displays, barcode readers, RFID readers, measurement equipment,...) to AS-Interface networks. Alternatively a RS485 interface is available. Rev. 00, Page 1 of 5

2 AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway The AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway transfers data from and to the AS-Interface master with parameterisable baud rates between 1200 baud and 38,4kBaud. The RS232 and the RS485 interface are galvanically separated from the AS-Interface network. When sending data via the RS232 interface a constant frame, consisting of a prefix and a postfix can be built around the net data. This frame is stored in the gateway and does not have to be transmitted by the AS-Interface master every time (not implemented in present version). When receiving data via the RS232 interface a constant frame, consisting of a prefix and a postfix can be stripped off the net data. This frame does not have to be transmitted by the AS-Interface gateway every time data is received (not implemented in present version). The arrival of new data is signalled to the master via a cyclical CTT2 message. For compatibility reasons with the AS-Interface masters the net data lengths per message are limited to 32 bytes. 2. Block diagram Block diagram of the AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway 3. First Steps At the time of shipping the AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway has the address 0. In an AS- Interface network every slave must have an address in the range 1A to 31B. No address may occur more than once. Further it is not allowed to configure a standard slave and a slave with extended address mode with the same address (e.g. slave 17 and slave 17A or 17B) in the same network. 3 Setting the address with the addressing tool Prior to installation of the slave in the network the address is set with the addressing tool which is connected to the addressing socket of the device. For further details please refer to the instructions of the addressing tool. Setting the address in the network Alternatively the AS-Interface/RS232 Gateway may be connected to the AS-Interface network and the AS-Interface master can set the correct address (in projecting mode only). It has to be noted, however, that only one slave with address 0 may be connected to a network at any time. Setting the parameters A parameterisation via the AS-Interface parameter telegram is not implemented. The CTT2 object 02 is used to set the following parameters: Baud rate, Parameterisation of the data byte (parity, stop bits, byte length) Prefix and Postfix strings The data of object 02 is permanently stored in the slave. Alternatively sockets or cage clamp contacts are possible on demand. Please inquire for details. 4.3 LED status indication The two colour LED designated AS-i indicates the following: LED off: LED green on: LED red on: LED red flashing: no AS-Interface voltage present everything OK no data communication with master no CTT2 communication The green LED designated TX indicates that communication via the rs232/rs485 interface is active. 4.4 Mechanical and Environmental Data Attention: The module is exclusively intended for mounting in protected electrical environments (e.g. splitter boxes, terminal chambers,...).
