6 INTRODUCTION What this document is about This document gives a general description of the contents of the new Dynamicweb version called Dynamicweb 7.1. 7 1 UPDATE OVERVIEW 1.1 Software version Dynamicweb 7.1 is an updated version of Dynamicweb CMS end ecommerce and offers significant interface changes, general functionality improvements and new modules. Internal version number of Dynamicweb 7.1: System requirements This version introduces no changes to the system requirements but we refer to the System Requirements, Dynamicweb 7 which were updated with the release of Dynamicweb Installation To apply this update to your existing Dynamicweb.NET solution, you must have a valid update license. Installation of the new version varies, depending on whether your solution is hosted by Dynamicweb Software or yourself: If your solution is hosted by Dynamicweb Software, the update will be applied automatically. No action on your part is required. If you are hosting your own solution, you must install the update manually. Please contact your Dynamicweb Partner or Dynamicweb Software directly. You can also download the latest Dynamicweb build from the Downloads area: engage.dynamicweb-cms.com (requires login). 1.4 Browser compatibility The new interface is only compatible with Internet Explorer 7+ and Mozilla Firefox 3+. Future versions of Dynamicweb CMS will only be optimized for Internet Explorer 8+ and Mozilla Firefox 3+. Version Dynamicweb Software A/S (Ltd). 1

8 General improvements and new functionality 2 GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS AND NEW FUNCTIONALITY The following section describes improvements and new functionality added to the new version of Dynamicweb CMS and ecommerce. 2.1 Module Themes A very user friendly functionality added to this release is the ability to save the configuration of a module in what we call a theme. A saved theme contains: All the paragraph settings of a module including the templates that have been selected. The stylesheet and JavaScript applied to the module. Any additional files the user wish to add. These files will be bundled with the theme. The saved themes can be managed from the Dynamicweb administration, transferred to your computer as a zip-file and shared at will. The benefit of this is that you will fast and easy be able to reuse existing module-setups across different sites and solutions. We will also be starting to make some standard module themes available. These themes can be previewed with the explore themes functionality. Figure 1. Exploring a theme. 2.2 Interface optimization Dynamicweb ecommerce The Dynamicweb ecommerce interface has undergone a thorough make over improving the way you work with ecommerce content as well as ensured consistency with the overall design of Dynamicweb. The various functions have been rearranged to manage products, groups and shops. Language chooser Customize the product list New functionality lets you choose which columns to display in the product list allowing you to sort the list by certain information fields. To add new columns just right-click the list header and choose a new column from the menu. Additional columns can be added by choosing More from the right-click menu. Customizing the product list Viewing and editing product variants Product variants are now easily viewed from the product list by clicking an expand icon next to the product. This also allows you to edit the variant directly from the list by clicking the variant icon. Figure 4. Edit variant from the product list Create and edit multiple products Another great feature is the possibility to quickly add multiple products to your product catalog. A clean product list is displayed when clicking the Create multiple products button in the toolbar and allows you to quickly fill out basic product information. Here the product fields are filled out with the relevant product information which you can edit for all products swift and easy without having to open each product Product meta information New functionality has been added that allows you to add meta information (title, description and keywords) to products, which then can be used for search engine optimization purposes. The meta information for the product overrides the meta information on the page. Furthermore a custom URL can be provided for a particular product which in combination with the Customized URLs module transforms the URL to a more user friendly address. If the URL field is empty, the system uses the product name Drag and drop product groups Groups in the product catalog are now easily managed by newly introduced functionality allowing you to drag a certain group to a desired location. When dragging a group to another group a menu will be displayed with options either to move the group or attach the group (the latter only applies for subgroups). Moving a product group Searching for products Locating a particular product in the catalog has been implemented as a new node in the ecommerce tree. Searching for specific produts Viewing orders The way you manage incoming orders have been improved and now provides you with a quick overview of recent orders as well as the option to find previous orders. 14 General improvements and new functionality progress and date. Applied filters are automatically remembered by the system. This means that when opening the order list the next time, all filter settings will be pre-filled. Opening an order provides you with the option to view the order details in a new layout. You can also see the order log which displays the various states that the order has undergone in the order flow. Another great feature is that you can capture an order through a few simple clicks (see Remote capture) Advanced ecommerce settings Advanced ecommerce functionality such as the language, currency, sales discounts and product field settings have been moved from the ecommerce tree to the Management Center. The settings have been rearranged and grouped in a more meaningful and intuitive way and the interface for the various settings have undergone a similar reimplementation as the rest of Dynamicweb ecommerce to match the overall look and feel of Dynamicweb. Figure 9. ecommerce settings in the Management Center. 2.3 Minor general improvements Publication period indication on paragraphs: Paragraphs with specific publication periods are now marked with an icon in the paragraph list. Hovering the mouse over the icon will display the publication dates. Hide validation setting from the paragraph: The validation option available on paragraphs can now be removed from the Validation settings in the Management Center Spell checker update The spell checker functionality has been updated to support Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese. 15 General improvements and new functionality Preview files in the file manager An option has been added to the right-click menu in the file manager that allows you to view the preview the file in a new browser window with the complete reference to the file. This only applies for html, xml and image files. Use current website for sitemap generation The Sitemap module can now be configured to use the current website (area) from which to generate the sitemap. 16 Dynamicweb modules 3 DYNAMICWEB MODULES 3.1 Booking module (BETA) A new booking module has been developed that lets you manage and set up booking categories containing various resources and services. This allows you to easily set up online booking functionality of e.g. meetings and seminars on your website. Resources and services are interrelated and controlled by Dynamicweb resulting in no doublebooking of e.g. meeting rooms. The module also works as a regular calendar module and allows you to publish calendar overviews with the look-and-feel of e.g. Outlook calendars. You can also combine calendars with the booking functionality allowing visitors to quickly select a booking interval from the calendar. 3.2 Gallery module A new version of the Image gallery module has been introduced, which offers an improved way of displaying images as well as PDF files on your website. A set of standard templates are provided with the module supporting common image presentations such as Lightbox and page-flip functionality for easily flipping through pages in PDF files. 3.3 Newsletter v3 module Several improvements have been made to the Newsletter v3 module to ease the use of the module and remove specific annoyances Import/export recipients The import of recipient has been made more robust so that invalid recipients are skipped instead of breaking the import. Errors in the import are logged and can be viewed under the import summary. Another improvement to the import process is the option to activate all recipients during the import. This also means that deactivated users that are present in the import file will also automatically be activated (a log will display which existing recipients where activated). Exporting recipients to a file has previously only been available as download but a new option has been added that allows you to export the recipients to a CSV file which can be placed in a folder in the file manager. 3.4 Version Control A prominent improvement for Dynamicweb is that the system automatically saves versions of the content inserted on pages. The functionality is activated on a page by choosing the Save versions option under Page properties > Advanced tab > Workflow. You can view versions of the page and paragraph by clicking Versions in the toolbar. This provides you with a list of the saved versions of the page/paragraph. From the list you can compare the various versions with the current and restore paragraphs from previous versions. Version Dynamicweb Software A/S (Ltd). 10

The reports are accessed under the Tools tab on a page where a report such as Page views tells you about the number visitors on the particular page. Another interesting report is the Page performance which shows whether the page acts as landing page or exit page for visitors, which is valuable information when optimizing a website for specific visitor behavior. Figure 12. SEO reports on a page. 3.6 Users module Permissions on paragraphs New functionality has been introduced, which allows you to configure specific user permissions for a certain paragraph. You open the permission settings through the Advanced tab when editing a paragraph. Version Dynamicweb Software A/S (Ltd). 12

Once the permission is set on the paragraph a lock icon overlay on the paragraph icon will signify that the paragraph has been protected by certain user permissions. 3.7 Search, Weighted Spell check on search input The spell checking feature from the editor can now be used to check the search term entered by the user in the search field. The function uses the regional settings for the website to determine which dictionary to use and if no matching dictionary is found, it falls back to the English dictionary (en-us). To use the spell checking feature you can use the template called SearchBoxSpellcheck.html, which is shipped with Dynamicweb as default. Version Dynamicweb Software A/S (Ltd). 13

20 Dynamicweb modules The spell checking functionality supports the same languages as in the rich editor which currently is Danish, German, English, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch, Portuguese and Swedish. 3.8 Websites module (previously called Language/Area) The Language/Area module has been renamed so that it is now called Websites, which better signifies what kind of functionality the module offers when installed on a Dynamicweb solution New copy functionality (update links) Today when copying a language layer all internal links are not changed to link to the similar page in the copy. A new option has been added to the website settings that allows you to decide which information to copy and update from one website to another. Figure 15. Copy dialog. You can now choose with elements to copy, which links to update on the new version and even update the permissions set on pages and other elements page for website A new setting under the website settings lets you add a custom 404 page for the particular website and applies to the domains attached to the website. Previously a 404 page could be configured for the entire solution in the Management Center which will still act as a fallback when no 404 page is set for the website. 22 4 DYNAMICWEB ECOMMERCE MODULES 4.1 ipaper ecommerce plugin module A new module has been introduced that integrates your ipaper online catalogues with the shopping cart in Dynamicweb ecommerce. The module lets you map a certain product in a given ipaper (through the ipaper administration) with products in your product catalog. When a customer then clicks a certain product area in the ipaper, the customer is redirected to the cart containing the particular product. 4.2 Payment module Quickpay 3 and DIBS gateways New standard gateways are included in Dynamicweb ecommerce which both offers a more secure payment as well as remote capturing and extensive logging information. Both gateways also work in combination with the new shopping cart and handle all logic and actions regarding the checkout. Figure 17. Payment settings Remote capture At the moment remote capturing only applies for the Quickpay (3) and DIBS (Flexwin) gateways. The option to withdraw a payment, called remote capturing, through the Dynamicweb ecommerce administration has been implemented with this version. Capturing multiple orders. 4.3 Shopping Cart v2 module A new shopping cart module has been introduced which improves the way you configure an order flow Customizable order steps A prominent feature introduced with this module is that you can easily tailor the order flow in your web shop by arranging steps in the order you find most useful and user friendly. Each step can be customized by providing a specific template when editing the order step. Functionality included in the previous module such as custom validation rules and notifications are also implemented in the new module Logging Extensive logging of the order flow has also been added to the new shopping cart module allowing you to track any occurring problems during the order process.
