Snowco News Section Help File Welcome to Snowco s news section help file section. Please follow the instructions below; if you have any questions please contact David Scott, or Matt Stinson at the contacts at the bottom of the page. LOG IN TO SNOWCO The live site is visible at Go to: Place your provided username and password into the box. If you forget your password please reset it at You will now see this screen. You will notice on the top right of the screen Change Password. The first time you get to this page, please change the password provided for you. You can now post a release by clicking Add.

CREATING A POST TITLE: Fill in the Title field. Please keep the title short. Long titles lose impact and can blowout the page. Aim for six words or less. SLUG: The Slug will be generated automatically for you, you can change it if you like. This is not necessary. LEADER: This should expand on the Title. It can been longer and will appear in enlarged text at the top of the article. If you leave this blank it will automatically populate when saved with the first 120 characters from the Body field. This is not always clean and can be repetitive. THUMBNAIL: Leave blank at this stage. BODY: Copy your prepared release and paste it into this field. You will need to have your Pop Up blocker approve pop ups for this site. A new window will pop up. Paste your text into this pop up window and press insert. Your paragraph formatting will be retained. All other formatting will be removed. You can now add formatting to the release using the tools provided if required. To make a link: In the BODY' field there is a button at the top that looks like a link of chain. Highlight the text that you want to make linkable, then click on the chain. Link URL is the address you want people to link to when they click on the text that you highlighted. i.e. Target: This has two options; Open Link in Same Window & Open Link in a New Window. Use 'OPEN LINK IN A NEW WINDOW' when linking to all other website address. Title: Is unimportant, you can leave it blank. If you use the link tool to create a link to an address or just write an unlinked address on any webpage, it is prone to being found and exploited by spammers. Below is some simple code that will display your linked address and hide it from the spammers spiders. [[ d.scott@snow.co.nz]] Tags: If someone uses the search facility on Snowco the tags you put in here will bring up your blog. Type words here separated by a coma. (An example might be: Winter Games NZ, Alpine, Giant Slalom, Coronet Peak, Claudia Reigler) Published on: Check the date and time you want, or wanted it to go live. Status: Draft, Awaiting Approval, Approved. Use draft until you are ready to post it live to the website. Use Approved to post it live on the website.
I would advise that you now scroll to the bottom of the page BEFORE adding images or video and push the SAVE AND CONTINUE EDITING button. If you get an error on at this point it will not lose what you have written. Wait for the page to reload. Images can be loaded at any size however for speed of loading the pages we recommend that you size the images at a smaller size but no smaller than 640px wide (for landscape). Landscape images are ideal for displaying on any webpage. Portrait images do not fit as well but can still be used. You can post single images, or include multiple images in a simple photo gallery on the page. You can also place an image right aligned and constrained smaller if you choose. This is useful if you have a portrait shot of an athlete or something similar. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Inline Images section. Click on the first Browse button. Don t worry about where these images go in your Pro File post yet, that comes in the next step. Add a caption, link and link caption if you would like. Then press Save and Continue Editing. The page will reload and image labels will be generated automatically for you. Your images are now stored in the Snowco database. To get them to show on your page, go back to the Body section and place the following tags in the text where you want them to appear. [[image image label#]] for a 260pixel wide (half column width) image appearing right aligned. [[slideshow image label#]] for a 426pixel wide (full column width) image centre aligned. [[slideshow image label# image label# image label#]] to get the images to appear in a full column width slideshow in one place on the page. Please double check your tags before saving, a missed [[or ]] tag can cause issues with you post. Now scroll to the bottom and click on Save and Continue Editing, and wait for the page to reload.
At the top right corner of the screen you will now see History and View on Site buttons. You can click the View on Site button to review the post on the site. Click the back button on your browser to make changes or, to post your release live on the site. To publish your release, go to the Status button: Draft, Awaiting Approval, and Approved. Approved to post it live on the website. Use VIDEO Video can be posted within your releases on release or added at a later time. To post video on the page we recommend that you post the video first on the snowtv.co.nz website using their upload tool. Once approved the video can be republished easily using the provided embed code. The video embed code can be pasted into the BODY field in the location that you want the player to appear on the page. If you are posting the video you need to prepare the file as WMV, AVI, MOV, Mpeg 4. The Maximum file size is 75MB. Go to the SnowTV upload page and upload the file. Once approved the video will appear on SnowTV. Once the video is published, or if someone else is preparing an uploading the video it is a simple process to copy the embed code and paste it into your release. Note on the next page the sample video. Image 1 show the tools above the placeholder image. Click on Embed. Image 2 show the three size options that you can grab the play at. Click on Large. Image 3 show the code. Highlight all of the code, and push Ctrl C (or Command C for Mac) to copy the code to your clipboard.

To paste the video into your release, click on the HTML symbol above the BODY field. This will pop up another window with your article shown as HTML code. Place your mouse/cursor in this HTML SOURCE EDITOR where you would like the video to appear. To paste the code that you previously copied into this location press Ctrl V (Command V for Mac). Click Update. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Save and continue Editing. You can now review your article using the View on Site button. You can grab Embed code from youtube.com or any other video player that provides this facility however you may need to resize the player to make it fit on the page. We recommend supporting New Zealand s premium snow sports video website. Snowco and SnowTV are separate legal entities and websites even though many of the navigation links are shared.
