3 The Digital Gallery. NYPL Digital Gallery is The New York Public Library's image database, developed to provide free and open online access to hundreds of thousands of images from the original and rare holdings of The Library.

8 Architecture and Technical SPECS
9 System and Storage The site is run on ColdFusion Images are stored on a 57 TB network of Windows and Unix rack servers Images and information are held in an Oracle database in XML format A Java based search engine called Lucene (from Apache) extracts data and presents it to the user.
10 Images The master file is created at a 300 to 1200 dpi resolution. Three versions of the master images (at 72 dpi). Thumbnail (150 px) Detail (300 px) Enlargement (760 px)
