2 Overview The Volume Purchase Program (VPP) makes it simple to find, buy, and distribute apps and select books in bulk for your institution, so you can provide great content to your students, instructors, and staff. And through the VPP store, you can get special pricing for certain purchases of 20 or more apps. Program Features Volume purchases VPP provides a scalable solution to manage your institution s content needs. Choose from thousands of apps in the App Store or the Mac App Store across a broad range of categories, from geography and mathematics to science and history, and so much more. Purchase world-class apps in volume for both Mac and ios through the VPP store. In addition to apps, books and textbooks are also available from the ibooks Store. ibooks Textbooks provide a rich and engaging user experience, giving your students entirely new ways to learn. With VPP, it s easy to equip your users with the learning materials they need. Managed distribution Managed distribution is a feature of VPP that lets you distribute apps and books to managed devices or authorised users and easily keep track of what content has been assigned to which user or device. To benefit from it, you can use mobile device management (MDM) or Apple Configurator 2 when distributing purchased apps. With managed distribution, apps that are no longer needed by a user can be revoked and reassigned to a different user or device within your institution, so your institution retains full ownership and control of purchased apps. Once books are distributed, they remain the property of the recipient and are not revocable or reassignable. Special education pricing Since VPP allows developers to offer special pricing for education institutions, you can receive a 50 percent discount for certain app purchases in quantities of 20 or more. the Apple Volume Purchasing Program March

Log in to the VPP website The VPP website (located at https://vpp.itunes.apple.com) allows you to purchase Apps and Books for distribution to devices and users.

In a web browser (such as Safari, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer), go to the VPP website at https://vpp.itunes.apple.

3 Log in to the VPP website The VPP website (located at allows you to purchase Apps and Books for distribution to devices and users. It will also allow you to check credit, manage your account preferences and tie Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms to your VPP account. In a web browser (such as Safari, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer), go to the VPP website at Here you will be offered the option of logging in to the Education Store or the Business Store. Click on Education VPP store to continue. This is the main screen of the VPP store. 4 Use your VPP Apple ID to log in. You may also know this as your Apple School Manager Apple ID. You will be taken back to the main screen of the VPP store. On this screen, you can see the logged in account at the top right, and the amount of credit available on your VPP account. If you click on the logged in account, you will also get a drop down menu with the options Account Summary, Purchase History, Redeem VPP Credit and Sign Out. the Apple Volume Purchasing Program March

In this example, we are using the free version of Explain Everything. Click on the title of the App to proceed to the purchase screen.

5 Search for and purchase Apps Whether you are looking for free or paid Apps, you will need to obtain licenses to distribute to your devices. To search for an App, type the name of the App in to the search field at the upper left of the screen then click the Search button, or push the enter key on your keyboard. In this example, we are using the free version of Explain Everything. Click on the title of the App to proceed to the purchase screen. This screen allows you to specify how many licenses of each App you would like to obtain. For free Apps, the quantity doesn t matter, as long as it is above the number of devices that you would like to have the App on. 6 Review the details, then click the Place Order button. If you haven t purchased any Apps since you have logged in, you will be asked to log in again. Use the same Apple ID that you used to log in to the VPP website to continue. the Apple Volume Purchasing Program March

Confirm Purchases and License Status Once your App or Book has been purchased, it is a good idea to check that the purchase history is correct, and determine the license status.

Click the link to show the Purchase History and confirm the purchase has been completed successfully. This screen shows all Apps and Books that have been purchased using your VPP account.

You will now see the order complete screen. This shows you that the order has been correctly placed. There is a link to your Purchase History on this page. Click the link to show the Purchase History and confirm the purchase has been completed successfully. This screen shows all Apps and Books that have been purchased using your VPP account. It also shows you the status of the license for your purchases. To confirm that the license you have purchased is ready for Managed Distribution using your MDM, check the final column on the right hand side.
