1 POST UPDATES Prepared by: Gini Pedersen (ITTF Chair) (updated: 3/18/2018) Summary of Steps Explained Below: Logon. Choose to post Updates. Make selections. Check for accuracy. Logout. TO PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS: Depending on how this file opens on your computer, one of the following should work: Click a printer icon near the top of your screen. Right-click on the document and click Print. On a Mac, press the Control key and click the mouse. Click FILE - PRINT. 1. In the ADDRESS BAR at the TOP of your Internet Browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) type (substituting your division number for the "##") and press the ENTER (or RETURN) key on your keyboard. 2. Log onto WordPress account with assigned Username and Password (your CalRTA member number and your last name) and then clicking the Login button updates.doc Page 1

2 3. You have 2 ways to update the Updates page. Add a URL (web address) -- see #4 below. Add a PDF -- see #5 below. 4. TO ADD A URL TO LINK TO AN UPDATE 4a. Click Add URL to UPDATES Page link on left side of screen. 4b. Click in Link Description field and type what you want the link to say on the Updates page -- be descriptive (e.g. Pension Update -- 3/3/16). 4c. Click in the Link Address field and type where you want the link to go and click the UPDATE button (e.g. updates.doc Page 2

3 Note: Always include the " portion when typing the Web address. 4d. Note that information about the new link appears on the screen as shown below (beneath == Updated == text). Then continue with Step 6. updates.doc Page 3

4 5. TO ADD A PDF WITH AN UPDATE 5a. After creating a PDF with your update, click Media in black bar on the left of screen. 5b. Click Add New and click Select Files or Choose File. 5c. Switch to the location on your computer of the PDF you want to upload. Locate the PDF on your computer. updates.doc Page 4

5 5d. Click on the name of the PDF and click Open. 5e. Click Library (under Media) in black bar on the left side of the screen. 5f. Click on the square that represents the PDF you chose above (probably one on the left). 5g. Change what appears in the field to the right of the word Title (right side of screen) to the title you want to appear (e.g. Pension Update -- 3/3/16). updates.doc Page 5

6 5h. Scroll down on the right side of the screen. 5i. Click to remove the checkmark by Uncategorized and click to place a checkmark by Updates. Note: Ignore all other boxes, fields, links, and choices on the screen or the following instructions may not apply. 5j. Click the black X above and to the right of the Title you entered above. Note: Clicking this black X actually posts the new Update PDF in the list. Then continue with Step 6. updates.doc Page 6

7 6. In the horizontal black bar near the top of your screen, click the name of your division. 7. Click Visit Site. 8. Check to see if the new Update posted correctly. Note: If not, click the name of your division in the horizontal black bar again (as described in Step 7 above) and click Dashboard to make a change. updates.doc Page 7

8 LOGOUT WHEN DONE 1. Click "Howdy, (your username)" in horizontal black bar near top right of screen. 2. Click Log Out. Questions? your questions to... Please include your question in the message.
