2 Dashboard Overview You can come back to your dashboard, get more detailed user guides, and view messages here If you have created Assignments, you can view/assess them by clicking here You can click your name here to change your password. Note: Do not change your name and . Standards Progress allows you to compare how your students are meeting standard sets compared to other assessors and targets for performance. These Pending Assessments are most recent portfolio submission made to you from the students. You can click the Actions button to view the works from the students as well as assess them. Rubric Progress allows you to view your pending and completed assessments for specific rubrics. It also allows you to compare how your students are performing compared to students in other classes on the same assessment Page 2
3 Assessing the Assessments You can access the Pending Assessments in two ways: 1. Use the Pending Assessments on the left: click Actions button and choose Assess option, or 2. Use the Assessment menu on the top: click Assessment button and choose Assess option. Page 3
4 Assessing the Assessments (Assess and Comment) In Chalk & Wire the Return button should be used to go back to the previous page. Do not use the browser Back button unless the Return is not available. You can click here to expand for a detailed view of the rubric. You can specify whether or not you would like the student to be notified and whether or not you would like the results of the assessment to be available to the student, when the assessment is completed. Use your mouse to select the appropriate performance level for each criterion by clicking on the description box. You can click the Comment icon next to a criterion to add comment to that specific criterion. You can also add your overall comment to this student s work Page 4
5 Assessing the Assessments (Advanced Commenting) For Advanced Commenting (Inserted and audio comments), please first make sure this option is checked. You can click here for an expanded view. To insert your comment directly within the student s work, just highlight the text that you wish to comment on. Page 5
6 Assessing the Assessments (Advanced Commenting Continued) Type your text-based comment here. You can record your audio comments here (next page) Choose which type of text comment to save. Page 6
7 Assessing the Assessments (Advanced Commenting Continued) You may see this notice when you clicked Record Audio Comment. Just choose Allow the access to your microphone. Then you will start audio commenting from next screen. Page 7
8 Assessing the Assessments (Advanced Commenting Continued) 1. Click the Record button to record your audio comment with your microphone. 2. Click the Stop button to stop the recording. 3. Click the Play button to replay. 4. When you are satisfied with your audio comment, click Save. Finally, click Save Audio Comment button to put the audio comment into student s work. Page 8
9 Assessing the Assessments (Completing the Assessment) Don t forget to click the Save button here to save your assessment once you have finished scoring and entering your comments! Then you can start assessing further pending assessments submitted by the same student. And assess further pending assessments submitted against the same assessment instrument.
