Introduction Hello and welcome to RedCart TM online proofing and order management! We appreciate your decision to implement RedCart for your online proofing and order management business needs. This guide walks you through the installation and configuration of the RedCart system. If you chose to have RedCart Solutions install the system for you then please follow the instructions in your welcome letter to request an installation. NOTE: If you are a RedCart Hosting customer then please skip to Step 6! IMPORTANT: This installation should only be performed when installing RedCart for the first time. If you are updating your RedCart installation with an update or patch then please follow the instructions listed in the Update Patch Install Guide.pdf document. In the following steps you will: 1. Install RedCart 2. Generate a Test Gallery from Adobe Photoshop 3. Configure RedCart 4. Integrate RedCart into your web site 5. Start Selling! Installation The RedCart application consists of two pieces that need to be installed: 1. The web site code 2. The Adobe Photoshop script (CS or CS2 only) Before beginning the installation process you must make sure that you have the following three things: 1. A web site that meets the RedCart web hosting requirements 2. Adobe Photoshop CS or CS2 3. An FTP client to FTP files to your web site Some choices: (Mac) (PC) - (PC) (FTP plugin for Firefox for Mac or PC) Page 1 of 25

Web Hosting Requirements: Linux, Unix or Windows Server operating systems PHP v4.3 or later with the GD library extensions & mail() function enabled LibCurl v7.9.8 or later must be installed and enabled mcrypt v2.4.x or later must be installed and enabled (only needed if storing credit card info) MySQL v or later You can generally find this information in the Control Panel of your web host. Look for a link in your control panel that says PHP Information or something similar. After clicking on the link it will display a page that contains a list of everything that pertains to PHP on your web host. If your web host does not meet the RedCart web hosting requirements then we would suggest opening an account with BlueHost ( In the following steps you will: 1. Unzip RedCart.zip to your hard drive 2. Upload Files to Web Site 3. Create the MySQL Database and User 4. Create a RedCart FTP account (Linux/Unix servers only) 5. The Installation Wizard 6. Install the RedCart Photoshop Script Step 1: Unzip RedCart.zip to your hard drive If you re reading this installation guide then you ve probably already done this. Unzip the files to a place on your hard drive where you want your RedCart galleries to live. For the PC, the My Documents folder is a good choice. For Mac, your Home folder is a good choice. Step 2: Upload Files to Web Site For this step you need to have an FTP client installed and ready to go. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is a widely used method for transferring files over the internet. Odds are you probably already have an FTP client if you upload files to your web site. If you do not have an FTP client then you can download one of the ftp clients suggested at the beginning of this document. Use the FTP login information that your web hosting company provided to access your web site files. Once connected through your FTP client software, you should locate the folder that is accessible to the web. You will want to upload your RedCart files to the root of your web accessible folder. Examples of these folders are labeled public_html, www, or htdocs. Page 2 of 25

Please note that there are TWO RedCart folders so you need to make sure you upload the right one. This is the right one Upload the RedCart folder that is inside the Web Site Files folder on your hard drive to the root web accessible folder on your web server (ie. Inside public_html or www folder). After the files have finished uploading, the folder structure should look like the following: Please note the location of the galleries folder. This is where you will upload your galleries after generating them in Photoshop. Step 3: Create the MySQL Database & User This step will be slightly different depending on your web host. Through your web host s control panel, you need to create a MySQL database for RedCart to use. Log in to your web site s control panel and navigate to the database section. There should be an option to create a new MySQL database. Name the database whatever you like (ie. redcart) and create it. Once the database is created, you will need to create a database user to access the database. There should be a section for creating database users in your web site s control panel. Create a new user (ie. redcartuser) and add the user to the database that you just created granting ALL privileges. Write down the database name and the database user that you created. You will use this information in Step 5. IMPORTANT: When creating the user and adding the user to the newly created database, make sure that you give the user ALL permissions or privileges. If you do not do this then step 5 will fail. Page 3 of 25

Step 4: Create the RedCart FTP Account (Linux/Unix servers only) You only need to perform this step if you are installing RedCart on a Linux or Unix based server. If you are installing RedCart on a Windows server then you can skip this step. Through your web host s control panel, you need to create a new FTP account for RedCart to use. Your RedCart application uses an FTP account for certain backend processes. Log in to your web site s control panel and navigate to the FTP accounts section. Create a new FTP account and note the username and password which you will use in step 5. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the new FTP account has access to the root folder of your web site or the root folder of your sub-domain! Step 5: The Installation Wizard After you have completed steps 3 and 4 then you re ready to being the installation wizard. Open a web browser and navigate to: domain]/redcart/install/setup.php Follow the directions in the wizard to complete the rest of the web server install process. The wizard will perform a series of checks on your web host to determine if your host meets the requirements for RedCart to run properly. If everything checks out ok then the wizard will kick off a series of processes and complete the installation on your web server automatically. Page 4 of 25

Step 6: Install the RedCart Photoshop Script If you are a RedCart hosting customer then you will need to download the RedCart Photoshop files from the RedCart Members Area before proceeding with this step. RedCart uses a script within Photoshop to generate galleries. If you have ever installed Photoshop scripts then this should be familiar to you. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped RedCart onto your hard drive and open the Scripts folder: Copy the RedCart Script.jsx file to your Photoshop scripts folder. Please see below for the correct path to the scripts folder. NOTE: If you re using CS then the path is the same as the CS2 path listed below. If using CS then rename the file extension from.jsx to.js On PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS2\Presets\Scripts On Mac: Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Presets/Scripts That s it! Everything should be installed and ready to go. Now you re ready to move on to generate your first Test Gallery. Page 5 of 25

Generate your first Test Gallery Now that the installation is complete, you are ready to generate your first test gallery. In the following steps you will: 1. Open the RedCart Script 2. Set RedCart Home 3. Set Gallery Info and Generate the Gallery 4. Upload the Test Gallery to your web site 5. Activate the Gallery 6. Log in to the Gallery Page 6 of 25

Step 1: Open the RedCart Script First, open Photoshop CS or CS2. Click on the File menu Scripts RedCart Script. The RedCart GUI (graphical user interface) screen should open. Page 7 of 25

Step 2: Set RedCart Home Click on the Configuration button at the bottom of the GUI. Click on the Browse button and then set the RedCart Home directory to the folder where you unzipped the RedCart files from Step1 of the installation. Then click Save. NOTE: You only have to do this once. Once you save your RedCart Home directory it will remember the directory for all future gallery generation. ** IMPORTANT ** If you do not set your RedCart home directory properly then you will get a Template Directory does not exist! ERROR! Step 3: Set Gallery Info & Generate the Gallery After you have saved your RedCart Home directory you will need to select a source directory that contains some test images. All of the images in the source directory will be used to generate the gallery. Specify a Gallery ID, Category (weddings, portraits, corporate..etc), and the number of images (thumbnails) that you want displayed per page. The template name will be defaulted to RedCart Template1 and you will not need to change this name as RedCart currently only ships with one template. If RedCart releases a new gallery template in the future then you will specify the new template name here. NOTES: If Overwrite Gallery is checked then it will overwrite an existing gallery in the RedCart Home directory if it has the same Gallery ID. If Overwrite Gallery is not checked, and a gallery exists with the same name, then the GUI will add additional pages to the existing gallery with the images specified by the source directory or folder. Page 8 of 25

If Enable Actions is checked then you have the option of running Photoshop Actions on the images while it s generating the gallery. An example would be if you wanted to run all of your images through a sharpening action for the web. Please note that the action is only run on the resized image and not the original. If you re running the script on Windows then you ll notice that the Image Sort is grayed out. There is a bug in Photoshop (Not RedCart) that prevents the Image Sort feature from working properly when trying to sort by Date. As a result we have grayed out the image sort altogether on Windows machines. When grayed out, the script will sort the images by Name. When running on Windows, it is recommended to sort the images by date/time in Bridge, do a batch rename using a sequence starting at 1000, then generate your galleries when wanting to display images according to date/time. NOTES: The default High Res and Low Res pixel constraint settings above are suggested so that clients with lower monitor resolutions (ie. 800x600) will not need to scroll to see the images. Page 9 of 25

Step 4: Upload the Gallery to your Web Site After the gallery generation script completes, the gallery info will be displayed on the screen. Take note of this information as you will use it when activating your gallery in the coming steps. If the category that you specified before generating the gallery does not exist, then the script will create a folder with the category name and place the gallery files within that folder. In the example above, I specified engagements as the category so the script created an ENGAGEMENTS folder and placed the TEST1 gallery here. Perpetual License Customers Only: (RedCart Hosting customers please scroll down) Open your FTP client software and connect to your web site. Once connected, upload the gallery folder (in my case TEST1) to the category folder on your web site. If the category folder doesn t exist on your web site then create a folder within the galleries folder with the category name. It should look like this: PLEASE NOTE: If the category folder is not in all uppercase letters then the gallery activation process will fail! Make sure that your category and your gallery id folders are in all uppercase. Page 10 of 25

RedCart Hosting Customers Only: Open your FTP client software and use the FTP login information from your welcome letter to connect to your RedCart hosting site. Once connected, create a category folder on your web site through your FTP client. Examples of category folders are: ENGAGEMENTS, WEDDINGS, CORPORATE etc. After you create the category folder, upload the gallery folder that you just generated with the Photoshop script inside the category folder. It should look something like this: PLEASE NOTE: If the category folder is not in all uppercase letters then the gallery activation process will fail! Make sure that your category and your gallery id folders are in all uppercase. Page 11 of 25

Step 4: Activate the Gallery After the gallery files finish uploading to your web site then you re ready to activate the gallery. Galleries are activated within the RedCart Admin application. To access the RedCart Admin application, open a web browser and visit the following URL: domain]/redcart/admin If this is the first time you are accessing the RedCart Admin application then you will want to bookmark the login page for easy access in the future. The initial username is admin and the password is admin. NOTE: You may change the password from inside the Admin screens and add additional users if you choose to do so. Once inside the Admin screens, click on Gallery Management Activate Gallery Page 12 of 25

Fill in the gallery information and activate the gallery. The Gallery ID, Category, and Num of Pages should have been displayed to you when the gallery generation script completed in Photoshop. Page 13 of 25

Step 5: Login to the Test Gallery After you activate your test gallery, open a web browser and visit the following URL: domain]/redcart/login.php You will want to bookmark this page for easy access in the future. Use the Gallery ID and Password that you specified when activating the gallery. You will use this test gallery as a reference when configuring RedCart to match the look and feel of your web site. NOTE: You can also access a gallery by clicking on the gallery ID in RedCart Admin. It is also possible to create a custom page that displays links to your galleries if you do not want to require that your clients enter a password. In order to do this, simply make the gallery a public gallery in RedCart Admin and copy the provided link to your custom page. Your custom page can be any html or flash web site template page that allows you to create links. Page 14 of 25

Configuring RedCart for your Business Now that you have the basic application setup and a test gallery deployed, you can begin refining RedCart to mold to your photography business. RedCart comes pre-configured with your participating lab s print sizes, finishing options, and current pricing. If your lab is not an official RedCart lab then you can use any participating lab s product pool as a basis and alter the print sizes, pricing etc to match your current lab. NOTE: As a general rule, you should start at the top of the configuration menu and work your way down the menu. For each sub menu, start at the top of the sub menu and work your way to the bottom. We tried to keep most of the underlying configuration details and instructions within the screens themselves so that you don t have to open the guide every time you have a question on the screen. The following steps will give you a high level process that you should follow when configuring RedCart for the first time. In the following steps you will: 1. Configure Business Information 2. Configure Business Rules 3. Setup your Lab Product Pool (Paper Types, Print Sizes and Finishing Services ) 4. Creating Product Groups (Optional) 5. Creating Album Types (Optional) 6. Configuring Screen Notes & Text Step 1: Configuring Business Information From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Business Information. This screen allows you to configure the content of order s, your PayPal information, and also lets you specify your operating country. (Please see for a current list of supported countries) Page 15 of 25

PayPal Configuration If you choose to offer PayPal as a payment option to your clients then you will need to configure your PayPal settings. From the RedCart side of things, there are only two things that you need to specify: 1. Your PayPal business account address 2. Whether you want to Go Live and start accepting orders a. The Go Live! box will not be checked by default when RedCart is first installed. When the box is not checked, all test orders will be routed to PayPal s sandbox environment which is not a real credit card processing environment. This is for development purposes only. When you are ready to start accepting orders, check the Go Live box and all orders will be routed to the real PayPal system. From the PayPal side of things, you need to do the following: 1. Make sure that you have a PayPal Business Account 2. Log into your PayPal account and click on the Profile tab a. Configure your Account Information b. Sales Tax (There is no need to specify anything here all sales tax info is specified within RedCart Admin) c. Shipping Calculations Make sure that the following box is checked at the bottom of the screen: NOTE: You do not need to change anything else for shipping calculations. All shipping calculations are configured within the RedCart Admin screens. d. Payment Receiving Preferences Be sure to specify the name that you would like to appear on your customer s credit card statements on this screen. e. Instant Payment Notification Preferences You do not need to specify anything here. RedCart takes care of this internally. Page 16 of 25

Authorize.net Configuration RedCart also comes with a fully integrated interface into Authorize.net. Authorize.net is a payment gateway that allows you to accept credit cards and electronic checks online and deposits payments directly into your merchant bank account. Your clients will never leave your web site when accepting payments with this interface. Authorize.Net services are sold through an extensive network of reseller partners including Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), Merchant Service Providers (MSPs) and financial institutions that offer the company's industry leading payment services to their merchant customers. For more information on how to setup an account or to find a reseller, please visit From the RedCart side of things, there are only a few things to specify: 1. Your Authorize.net Login ID and Transaction Key: a. Log into your Authorize.net account b. Under Account click on Settings c. Under Security Settings click on API Login ID and Transaction Key d. Copy/Paste the API Login ID and Transaction Key into the RedCart Admin. You will need to generate a new Transaction key before copying. 2. An MD5 Hash Code: a. Log into your Authorize.net account b. Under Account click on Settings c. Under Security Settings click on MD5-Hash d. Type in a new hash value. This can be your pets name or whatever you like. Copy this new hash value into the RedCart Admin. 3. In the RedCart Admin, choose whether you would like RedCart to Authorize the payment only or if you would like RedCart to do the Authorization and Capture. If you choose to Authorize only then you can manually Capture the payment through your Authorize.net merchant interface when you re ready. 4. If you signed up through Authorize.net to accept electronic checks then click the Accept Electronic Checks checkbox. 5. Make sure the Go Live! checkbox is not checked and run a test order through the system. b. The Go Live box will not be checked by default when RedCart is first installed. When the box is not checked, all test orders will be routed to Authorize.net s sandbox environment which is not a real credit card processing environment. This is for testing purposes only. When you are ready to start accepting orders, check the Go Live! box and all orders will be routed to the real Authorize.net system. Page 17 of 25

SSL Certificate Configuration NOTE: Having an SSL Certificate is not required when only using PayPal as a payment option to accept credit cards. If you choose to use the Authorize.net gateway interface or choose to use the Encrypt & Store feature to securely store credit card information in the database then you need to have an SSL certificate. The Encrypt & Store feature allows you to capture and securely store credit card information in the database allowing you to later unlock the credit card information to manually process at a later time. The secure sockets layer (SSL) is a protocol that allows data to be transferred securely over the web. "Shared" SSL certificates are usually free and available through your hosting provider. "Private" SSL certificates can be obtained from 3rd party companies like Go Daddy You should check with your host to see what your options are for shared versus private certificates. Once your certificate is installed, all you will need to do is enter the SSL base path in the RedCart Admin. Please see the RedCart Admin Business Information section for details. RedCart Hosting Customers Only: If you would like to use an SSL certificate with your RedCart hosting account, you will need to first submit a support ticket via the RedCart Support Center so that we can send you a CSR (Certificate Signing Request). You will need this CSR in order to purchase an SSL certificate from a 3rd party vendor. In your support ticket, please include the following information: - The address you would like the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) sent to - Domain Name - Two letter Country Code - State - City - Company Name - Your company's address - The password you would like for the certificate Page 18 of 25

Step 2: Configuring Business Rules From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Business Rules. The Business Rules screen allows you to specify the following types of business rules: Lab Rules Payment Rules (i.e. Pay in Studio, pay by Check, pay w/paypal, Pay w/credit Card) Pricing Rules (This is where you specify your target markup percentage and price endings other pricing details are specified in your Product Pool and Product Groups) Sales Tax Rules Shipping Rules Studio Rules Page 19 of 25

Step 3: Configuring your Product Pool From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Product Pool Paper Types. Your Product Pool contains all of the products and services that your lab carries that pertain to a specific print size. These screens allow you to specify paper types, print sizes, and finishing services and how they are all associated to each other. This is also where you specify the actual lab cost for all of these items. ** Adding new items to the Product Pool ** If you add new items to the product pool make sure that you activate the paper type, print size, or finishing service or the new item will not show up in the cart. When creating a new paper type, print size, or finishing service, the system will not allow you to activate the new item until the required associations are made. The system was designed this way to prevent new items from showing up in the cart until all necessary decisions have been made by the photographer in regard to the new item. For example: If you create a new paper type then you will not be able to activate the new paper type unless you first associate a print size to it. ** Deleting items from the Product Pool ** You can only delete items from the pool that do not have any defined associations. Please remove any associations to an item before attempting to delete it. The delete button will be disabled on an item if there are associations defined for that item. The system was designed this way as a safe guard so that you can not accidentally delete your associations to a particular item since the associations process can be time consuming. It is recommended to deactivate an item rather than delete an item if you do not plan to use it. Once you have your base Product Pool created, you can choose to create Product Groups that contain subsets of items from your Product Pool. In the end you will link galleries to specific Product Groups if you want a gallery to contain a subset of items from your Product Pool and special pricing. Page 20 of 25

NOTE: If you do not link a gallery to a Product Group then it will, by default, contain ALL of the items that are setup in the Associations & Pricing section of your Product Pool. In this case the cost for these items will be marked up based on the target markup percentage that was specified in Step 2: Configuring Business Rules. By default, RedCart comes preconfigured with your participating lab s Product Pool. If your lab is not an official RedCart lab then you can use any participating lab s Product Pool as a basis and can easily modify the Product Pool to reflect your lab s products & services. Step 4: Creating Product Groups (Optional) This step is only required if you do not intend on offering the entire product pool within any particular gallery. If you want to offer a subset of the items in the product pool then you can add individual items to Product Groups and associate these Product Groups to Galleries. From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Product Groups Create/List Groups. Once product groups have been created, you can link product groups to specific galleries through the Gallery Activation or Edit Gallery screens. Page 21 of 25

Step 5: Configuring Album Types From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Album Types. This screen is only required if you plan on using the Album Builder functionality. From the Gallery Activation screen, you can set the Album Builder field to Yes which will add an Add to Album button in the gallery below each image. After clicking on Add to Album, the user will be able to choose an Album Type to associate to their album order. From the Album Types screen, you can create as many album types as you would like. For each album type you can upload an image of the album and a description. Page 22 of 25

Step 6: Configuring Screen Notes and Text From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Screen Notes and Text. The screen Notes and Text screen allows you to configure notes and text to be displayed on each screen from within the shopping cart. You can activate or deactivate these notes to communicate special information to your clients throughout the online proofing process. Page 23 of 25

Integrating RedCart with Your Web Site This step is easy as pie! In order to integrate RedCart with your web site you will need to be able to create HTML links on one of your web site pages. Links for the following can be created: The Gallery Login screen The Order Lookup screenthe My Album screen The Gallery Login Screen This link is required. You will need to create a link to the login screen so that customers can access their galleries. The link to the login screen is: domain]/redcart/login.php The Order Lookup Screen (Optional) This link is not required. If you would like your clients to be able to track the status of their orders through your web site then you will need to create a link to the RedCart Order Lookup screen. The link to the Order Lookup screen is: domain]/redcart/orderlookup.php Page 24 of 25

Colors and Branding In order to fully integrate RedCart into your web site you will want to match the colors and branding of your current web site design. You can upload your logo and configure the colors from the Colors and Branding screen within the RedCart Admin application. Follow the instructions on the Colors & Branding screen for further details. From the RedCart Admin menu, click on Configuration Colors & Branding. Page 25 of 25
