1 5 Calibrate the Fiery Printer Server 5 Calibration NOTE Before proceeding with the calibration routine ensure that the Full Width Array is the default calibration preference. Selecting Full Width Array 1. From CWS, select Device Center > General. 2. Select Tools > Preferences. Full Width Array January

3 Calibrating the Full Width Array Using the ES-1000 A calibrated Full Width Array provides accurate measurements when you use it to calibrate the Fiery Print Server. NOTE This must be completed every 30 days and also when a new calibration setting has been created, following a service call or maintenance on any xerographic component. 1. From CWS Select Device Center > General > Calibrate. 2. Select Calibrate for: Pull-down menu and choose Full Width Array. 3. Select Measurement Method and choose ES Choose Paper source. NOTE Disable Stock by Name Only in Manage Stock Library Advanced Settings on the PCUI to avoid error messages during calibration. Full Width Array January

4 5. Select Continue. This may take a few minutes 6. The calibration Printing dialog window opens showing print status. NOTE The Full Width Array calibration page is printed, along with several other pages of CMYK grey and a few mostly blank pages. The calibration page contains colour patches, you can discard the others. Blanks and extra pages are used for internal printer adjustments. You may want to visually evaluate the uniformity of these extra prints to determine if your printer may need a service. 7. Place the ES-1000 in its calibration plate and click Continue, or press the button on the ES The ES-1000 self-calibrates using the white tile in the plate. 5-4 Full Width Array January 2012

5 8. Follow on-screen instruction to measure the strips on the calibration page in sequence. When all the strips have been measured successfully, the measurements are applied automatically. 9. Select Continue. 10. Select Close. Full Width Array January

6 Calibration Manage Services (Optional or use default Gloss 120gsm) 1. Create customized calibration set. 2. Select Manage. 3. Select Create New. 4. Choose a stock that closely matches the stock you have. 5. Select OK. 5-6 Full Width Array January 2012

7 6. Rename Recommended paper to match stock used 7. Select Properties. 8. Select a minimum of 10 copiers to allow the printer to adjust copy quality In the box at the left side it will show you your media settings Full Width Array January

12 Calibrating the Fiery Print Server NOTE Always perform a Full Width Array Tone Adjustment prior to doing a colour calibration for your print server. This sets a good colour foundation for the print engine that the print server then builds on. 1. Launch CWS 5 and select Server Menu or General > Tools > Calibrate. 2. Select Calibrate. 3. Choose Paper Source. 4. For Measurement Method, choose Full Width Array. 5. Select Continue. The press prints and measures the calibration pages..several pages of CMYK gray and blank pages are also printed but are not measured Full Width Array January 2012

13 6. Select View Measurements 7. Review Densities chart. Take note of the percentage range The Measurements curve (thin line) should be above the Target curve (thick line). Note: If the measurement lines are not at or above the target, this may indicate the digital press needs a possible maintenance procedure or service call 8. To save measurements and complete the calibration process. Select Apply & Close. Full Width Array January
