4 Files Saved with Backup The following list shows the Quicken data file set extensions. The first file listed is the primary data file. The other extensions are auxiliary files that contain supporting data such as online banking setup or tax profile information. 5 Other Files to Backup If you save attachments, then you will have a directory file called: Attach All attachments will be in this file. Notes on Attachments: Manual backups include attachments if sufficient disk space is available. Attachment backup is "all or nothing" (for example, no attachments are backed up if there is insufficient disk space to store all attachments associated with your data file in the backup). Automatic backups and online backups do not include attachments. If you use Propery & Debt/Quicken Home Inventory you should save Personal.IDB Updating sends data to the QDF file. 8 Manual Backup to External Media You can back up your Quicken data to a variety of external sources including Diskettes (if your file is not too large) USB drives Zip disks SuperDisks CD-Rs or CD-RWs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, DVD+Rs, DVD+RWs Introduction to Quicken

9 Manual Backup to External Media Click on File/Backup (CNTRL B) 1. Current file location will appear in the first box. If this is not the file you wish to back up, specify the one you do want to backup. 2. Select ADD DATE to FILE NAME check box to add today s date at the end of the file name (Optional). 3. In the Where do you want to save your backup file area, click On My Computer. 4. In the SELECT the disk drive and path to the backup folder field, identify the drive that contains the backup disk. 5. If you are using XP, select the USE WINDOWS CD WRITING Wizard check box to use WINDOWS XP Default writing software. Or use your own CD backup software. 6. Click OK to start the back up 7. Click OK when Quicken tell you that the backup is complete. 8. If you are using the WINDOWS CD Writing Wizard, click on OK when Quicken reminds you that the data file you just backed up is in the Windows XP temporary CD burning folder. 9. Remove the backup drive or CD and store in a safe place. 10. To view the data you just backed up, restore it. Introduction to Quicken
