1 Overview The NetBrain system has five components: Customer License, Workspace, Automation, Network and Workstation. 3 Workstation Client TCP-9099 Network Live Network ICMP/SNMP/Telnet/SSH Install the and Client Software 1.1 Install the Customer License and Workspace a) Download ES 6.0 Software to a Windows 2003, 2008 or 2012 b) Run the Setup File and Follow the Setup Wizard Download the NetBrain software. Unzip the file after download. Note: Try this backup download link if you run into any issues with the primary link. Important Note: There must be more than 3GB free space in the system drive (mostly C drive) to complete the installation no matter which drives the NetBrain system will be installed on. During a Proof of Concept, we suggest installing Customer License (CLS) and Workspace (WSS) on the same Windows server. If you have multiple workspaces to be created under multiple WSS servers, then please follow steps A1.1 and A1.2 in the Appendix to install CLS and WSS on separate Windows servers. For Windows 2008 and Windows 2012, we recommend that you right-click on the setup file and select the Run as Administrator option. 4 c) Register the Workspace on Customer License In the Workspace step, select the Register to License option. In the POSTGRES installation step, use the default port and keep the default username as postgres and set the password. d) Activate Your License After the installation wizard is finished, NetBrain License window pops up. Click on the Trial Activate button. Fill in your and Activation Key in the Register for Trial License window. (The Activation Key has been sent to you in the Proof of Concept .) Note: If your license server is NOT connected to the Internet, please and we will send you instructions to activate the offline license. Updated July 21,

5 e) Continue the Installation Click Close in the NetBrain License window to continue the installation. Note: If you do not want to install other components (Automation /Network /Workstation) on this server, click Cancel in the corresponding window to cancel the installation and go to step 1.1h and follow the steps to install them separately. f) Specify the Service Port for Automation In the NetBrain Automation window, specify the service port for the Automation. Follow the setup wizard to complete the installation of NetBrain Automation. 6 h) Install Network and NetBrain Workstation Follow the Setup Wizard to Install Network and NetBrain Workstation. Click the OK button to continue the installation process after the Files in Use window pops up. i) Log into the Customer License Web Interface Enter URL or domain name of Customer License >/netbrain. The default username/password is admin/admin. Note: If the web page does not come up, please check the default IIS web page. If the default IIS web page does not come up, check the IIS setting and reinstall IIS. j) Load Shared Workspaces to Customer License Click the Workspace tab, one Workspace (on the left pane) and the Workspace1 entry (on the right pane) will be displayed. Click Refresh to load workspaces to Customer License. Note: 1. Shared workspaces should be created on Workspace, and must be authorized in the Customer License to operate in the EE workstation. 7 is created on the Workspace, the system will allocate all seats and nodes license to this workspace during the installation process. When other workspaces are created, administrator will need to assign the seats and nodes manually. 2. If Workspace is not listed under the Workspace tab, please follow step A1.2b to register the Workspace on the Customer License manually. If you want to create multiple Shared Workspaces on the Workspace, please follow step A1.2c and then allocate Seats and Nodes for Shared Workspaces. k) Associate Automation with Workspace Log into the NetBrain Workspace homepage by entering URL or domain name of Workspace >/Workspaces/Login.aspx with admin privileges, switch to Automation tab and click the Add Automation button to associate the Automation to the current Workspace. 1.2 Install the Automation (Note: If you want to install Automation on the same machine as your CLS/WSS servers, please follow the 1.1 installation wizard. 9 c) Specify the Service Ports for Network In the NetBrain Network window, specify the ports for the NetBrain Benchmark Service and Proxy Service and follow the wizard. If you want to install multiple Automation s on other machines, please follow step 1.2. If you want to install multiple Network s on other machines, please follow step 1.3. If you want to install multiple NetBrain Workstations, please follow step 1.4. Important Note: If you run into any issues while installing NetBrain, please reference the list of typical setup issues. 10 Appendix If there are multiple workspaces to be created under multiple Workspace servers, then please follow the instructions below to install Customer License and Workspace on separate Windows servers. A1.1 Install the Customer License Separately a) Download ES 6.0 Software to a Windows 2003, 2008 or 2012 b) Run the Setup File and Follow the Setup Wizard Double-click the same setup file downloaded in step 1.1 and install the Customer License. For Windows 2008 and Windows 2012, we recommend that you right-click on the setup file and select the Run as Administrator option. For Windows 2008 and Windows 2012, we recommend that you right-click on the setup file and select the Run as Administrator option. In the Select Features step, select the Customer License option only. In the POSTGRES installation step, use the default port and keep the default username as postgres and set the password. c) Activate Your License After the installation wizard is finished, NetBrain License window pops up. A1.2 Install the Workspace Separately a) Run the Setup file on Another Machine and Follow the Setup Wizard Double-click the same setup file downloaded in step 1.1 and install the Workspace. For Windows 2008 and Windows 2012, we recommend that you right-click on the setup file and select the Run as Administrator option. In the Select Features step, select the Workspace option only. In the POSTGRES installation step, use the default port and keep the default username as postgres and set the password. b) Register the Workspace on Customer License 1. Log into the Customer License web interface by entering URL or domain name of Customer License >/netbrain with default credential admin/admin. 2. Click the Workspace tab then the Add button at the bottom of the pane (on the left) to open the Workspace Properties window. 12 c) Associate Automation with Workspace Log into the NetBrain Workspace homepage by entering URL or domain name of Workspace >/Workspaces/Login.aspx with admin privileges, switch to Automation tab and click the Add Automation button to associate the Automation to the current Workspace. d) Create Shared Workspaces On the Workspace, click Start > All Programs > NetBrain > NetBrain Enterprise > Add Shared Workspace to launch the Create Shared Workspaces tool. 13 e) Allocate Seats and Nodes for Shared Workspace on Customer License Webpage 1. Click the Workspace tab and choose Workspace on the left pane to switch to the corresponding Workspace List view. 2. Click Refresh to ensure all the shared workspaces are listed properly. 3. Choose the Workspace entry and click Assign License to allocate seats and nodes for this workspace. Note: Shared workspaces should be created on Workspace and must be authorized in Customer License to operate in the EE workstation. Please refer to steps 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 to install Automation, Network, and Workstation. If you want to create multiple Shared Workspaces on the Workspace, please follow steps A1.2d - A1.2e.
