5 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. Purpose This document is intended to provide information concerning the software and configuration required to obtain access to the NM Interactive Reporting or NMIR application Intended Audience/Terminology These notes are targeted towards the external clients of the (NM) that have, or have requested, access to the NMIR application Scope and Applicability This edition is applicable from the indicated edition issue date, until it is replaced by a next edition. 6 2. GENERAL The NM Interactive Reporting (NMIR) application is a web interface that has been designed to provide users with reporting facilities to access the NM Data Warehouse database containing ATFCM information Prerequisite To take advantage of this information, the user or client shall request access to the NMIR application Connectivity NMIR is accessible via the Internet NMIR is one of the NM Protected Applications and can be accessed via the Network Manager Website at: Field Code Changed Internet access requires a conventional connection to Internet and the use of a web browser recognised by the as appropriate for the connection. See Para. 4.1 for further details on hardware/software requirements Security User Authentication Firewalls It is very important that access to the Network Operations systems is restricted to authorised users and that a user, when logging in to the system, is really who he claims to be. To ensure this level of security the uses a one-time password mechanism based on Secure ID software tokens. Details are available in the Connection Guide, which is available in the libraries of the NM and the Website at: Field Code Changed Formatted: Hyperlink NMIR is a Web application which is accessible via a Web browser. Users having installed a firewall system between their Local Area Network and the Internet should be able to let the NMIR communications pass through without any problem since these communications are based on the standard Web protocol HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secured) supported by practically all commercial firewall products. 2-1

7 3. USER SUPPORT 3.1. NM General Technical Contact Connectivity and authentication problems and all technical problems in general shall be addressed to the Customer technical Service desk & Operations (CSO) helpdesk. 8 4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS The following sections provide information concerning the hardware, software and configuration required to obtain access to the NMIR application. It should be noted that the configurations indicated here are the ones that have been tested and validated by the and are therefore the recommended configurations. They are not the minimum configuration, neither the only configuration possible Hardware and Software Requirements A PC with: Internet connection. and running the following software: WIN XP SP3 or WIN Vista SP2 or Windows 7 or Windows 8 (no touchscreen) 32-bit & 64-bit O/S editions supported) Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 SP3 or 7.0 or 8.0 (*) or 9.0 (*) or 10 (*) Firefox ESR 17 JVM: Oracle Java 1.6.0_xx or Oracle Java 1.7.0_xx (*) only supported in Compatibility Mode Note that 64-bit versions of IE and Firefox are not supported. Office: Microsoft Office 2003 SP3 or 2007 SP2 or 2010 or 2013 Reader: Acrobat Reader X (10.0). In addition: Token Software Package (to be provided by NM), requiring: 32 Mb of physical memory. 420 Mb of free disk space Communications/Performance The overall performance, as observed by the end-user, is dependant upon many aspects e.g. line speed, the quality of the local service provider, the network load, the remote web or network server(s), the PC performance (PC load, stand-alone, networked) etc. Some of these aspects are variable (loads) and some are simply outside our direct control (web servers). Overall performance is therefore almost impossible to quantify. The line speeds that are required to enable an acceptable level of performance are as follows: An Internet connection of at least 128 Kbps. 4-1

9 4.3. Internet Explorer Settings Select Tools Internet Options. Select the Security tab. Select the Internet zone. Click Custom Level to change the settings.
