TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP New Feature Highlights MathPrint TM and More! Note: Please also update to Catalog Help v1.1 if you update to 2.53MP. There is no functionality update to Catalog Help but version 1.1 is needed to run on 2.53MP. Update TI-SmartView for the TI-84 Plus with 2.53MP o (Use File, Load File, select the *.8xu file on your computer.) Version Number 2.53MP NEW Shortcut Menus Press ƒ ^ _ ` a Notes: Most features in the new shortcut menus are available in MATH MATH and MATH NUM menus or Catalog. See more notes on APPs at the end of this file. NEW second screen in MODE MATHPRINT CLASSIC Choose to use MathPrint (default) or to use the enhanced Classic mode which is the familiar TI-84 Plus interface with enhancements of scrolling history on the home screen and fraction math! ANSWER: AUTO DEC FRAC AUTO rule: Input Output (Answer) Integer Integer Integer and Fractions and NO Decimal Fraction Expression with any occurrence of a decimal point Decimal DEC rule: Answer always decimal. These results are exact or approximate depending on the expression being calculated. FRAC rule: Answer will attempt fraction output within the limitations of the allowed fraction size. The fraction answer will be either exact or approximate depending on the expression being calculated. This is a fractional representation (approximate or exact) to any inputted expression if the decimal representation stored in the calculator can be converted to a fraction that meets the fraction size limitations. NEW second MODE screen! n/d U n/d - selection of fraction output as improper or mixed numbers. GOTO FORMAT GRAPH: Selecting YES is a shortcut to jump from the MODE screen to the FORMAT screen. Pressing MODE will return to MODE from the FORMAT screen. STAT DIAGNOSTIC ON OFF - Quickly select the existing option of displaying r and r 2 when calculating statistical regressions. This is a shortcut to an existing feature for ease of use. SET CLOCK was on the first mode screen in the previous OS. No change was made to CLOCK. TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 1 of 8
MathPrint and Classic MODES Features MathPrint (Default) Classic Home Screen - Scrolling History (Arrow Up!) Highlight a previous input or output and paste to the current input line. (Exceptions list and matrix output.) Line Scrolling and History Navigation: Both input and output entries will scroll left and right on the screen in MathPrint. Use! and " to navigate through your output (immediately after the calculation only.) Use - " and -! to JUMP from the beginning of an entry to the end of an entry. Example not shown. If within a MathPrint expression, use ƒ } to JUMP to the history and then paste back into the MathPrint expression. (Ex. Place cursor in a denominator, jump to history using ƒ }, highlight an expression in history. Press Í to paste to the denominator!) TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 2 of 8
Features Access to shortcut menus FRAC FUNC MTRX YVAR using ALPHA F1- ALPHA F4 MathPrint (Default) & Classic These shortcut menus are available from most all screens IF an input area is available. The menus are context sensitive: MathPrint templates or classic format command names will paste depending on MathPrint or Classic mode settings. MathPrint is only available in MathPrint mode on the Home Screen or Y=. Other input areas will display a classic format of familiar function commands or in-line thick bar fractions. MRTX Menu is only available in MathPrint mode in the Home Screen and Y=. All shortcut menu items are also available in MATH MATH, MATH NUM, VARS and Catalog. The quick MTRX is only available through the shortcut menus on Home Screen, Y= in MathPrint mode. The MTRX menu is crossed out in other areas when not available. 1. n/d fraction template 2. U n/d mixed number template 3. >n/d<>un/d - improper fraction to mixed number 4. >F<>D fraction to decimal toggle 1. Absolute value template 2. Summation template (NEW) 3. Numerical Derivative 4. Numerical Integration 5. Log base n (NEW) Quick matrix template access in MathPrint mode in the Home Screen and Y=. The classic MATRIX entry and menu features are still available. Note: YVAR is context sensitive depending on the MODE settings FUNC PAR POL SEQ. This is a shortcut to the VARS Y-VARS menu. Note that the SEQ vars are on the keypad as 2 nd 7, 8 or 9. TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 3 of 8
Features MathPrint (Default) Classic Fraction Math Use ALPHA F1 shortcut menu for fraction commands OR the MATH NUM menu. Remember that the division key is not the fraction entry key. Notice that a fraction is displayed on one line with a thick bar in classic format. n/d Rules Numerator and denominator can be real numbers and expressions (not complex) on input. Fraction Numeric (limits) 6 digits in numerator up to 9999 in the denominator U n/d Rules Must have an integer in U, n and d entries! Mixed Numbers (limits) up to 3 digits in the whole number up to 3 digits in the numerator up to 3 digits in the denominator NOTE: If U is entered as a non-integer in the template, implied multiplication is assumed TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 4 of 8
Features MathPrint (Default) Classic MathPrint available in Y= in MathPrint MODE Features Fraction support in TABLE MathPrint (Default) & Classic Use fractions in functions or in TblSet to view a fraction table if possible. Note: Y= and TblSet must contain fractions to attempt fraction display in table. Quick TblSet from the TABLE View! Select new TblStart by highlighting a value Press + to change Tbl in the TABLE view! TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 5 of 8
Features New Zoom Features! Trace on fractions using ZFrac settings if possible. ZFrac1/# - sets up the WINDOW in a similar fashion as ZoomDec. Fraction tracing will be attempted if possible. (Function should have integer or fraction number types.) Notice ZQuadrant1 has also been added to the TI-84 Plus. MathPrint (Default) & Classic Y1=1/2 X using n/d in either MathPrint or Classic WINDOW access to X setting on window setup screen. Always check the number type in WINDOW if you are trying to trace on certain number types. A fraction in WINDOW will force an attempt at fraction tracing. Note: To access all WINDOW Vars, press 1: Window TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 6 of 8
Features MathPrint (Default) Classic Fraction support in LIST Note: Classic format in LIST Editor Fraction support - MTRX and MATRIX Note : Classic format in the MATRIX Editor. Using MTRX (ƒ`) TI-84 Plus OS update v. 2.53MP 7 of 8
Features New Random Feature RandIntNoRep(startnum, endnum) MathPrint (Default) & Classic A random reordering of an interval of integers. Shown in Classic available in MathPrint as well. Remainder remainder(dividend, divisor) What happens to our favorite APPs? APPs developed prior to OS V 2.53MP will still run on the TI-84 Plus family in a classic format entry. The new features of MathPrint (templates and fraction math) will not be enabled since the APPs were developed for previous OS versions. Y= will be in classic format if Transformation Graphing or Inequality Graphing are running. Fractions may be accessed using MATH NUM up arrow but fraction math is not supported (decimal answers). When these Apps are running, TABLE will still support fractions if possible within the fraction limits. TI-Navigator will not accept the new MathPrint or fraction entry features as was true for new features that appeared in the 2.43 OS. Catalog Help 1.1 has no feature updates, no new splash screen except version number. The 1.1 version is needed to run with 2.53MP. GeoMaster is not supported in OS V 2.53MP. Using new features of 2.53MP as an entry in an App developed prior to OS V 2.53MP may result in an unexpected character pasting in the location. Press to clear the unexpected character.
