The Subscription Advantage Pack (SAP) is a collection of value-added enhancements only available for customers which have up-to-date subscription at no extra cost. These features will allow them to gain early access to the latest product enhancements. Every time a feature in the advantage pack is used it will make sure the user has a license with a valid subscription date, if they do not they would not be able to use the feature. 1. EXPORT PRODUCT HIERARCHY TO MICROSOFT PROJECT Introduction This feature allows you to export to a Microsoft Project file that can be used for scheduling and for simulation inside Navisworks. Each assembly becomes a task with an estimated duration of 1 day. Assemblies that have subassemblies become summary tasks. User Defined Attributes assigned to assemblies are also exported up to a limit of ten. If you don t know the name of the product hierarchy or mistype it, the list of product hierarchies will be listed on the command line. If the product hierarchy has a space in the name then you need to surround the name in double quotes (Eg. MY PH ). Optionally you can create a default schedule or not. Project with Default Schedule 3

Project without Schedule To Export a Microsoft Project file for a Product Hierarchy 1. Run SCADVCreateMSProjectSchedule from the command line. Create default schedule [Yes/No]: 2. Type Yes or No. Yes will set up the schedule so that sibling assembly tasks are completed sequentially in alphabetical sequence. Name of product hierarchy to export <PRIMARY>: Type the name of the product hierarchy to export. If the typed name doesn t match a product hierarchy in the project then the project hierarchy names are listed and you can retype the name. Select the name of the MS Project file create. A default filename is created with a date/time stamp but you can rename it if you desire. If the filename already exists the existing file will be renamed to have a bak extension. 4

The output filename will be shown on the commandline when the export is complete. 2. EXPORT PRODUCT HIERARCHY TO NAVISWORKS SELECTION SETS Introduction This feature allows you to export to an XML file that contains the selected product hierarchy as Navisworks selection sets for each assembly. This can be used in conjunction with the Microsoft Project schedule simulation in Navisworks. To export a Navisworks selection sets file for a product hierarchy 1. Run SCADVCreateNWSelectionSets from the command line. Name of product hierarchy to export <PRIMARY>: 2. Type the name of the product hierarchy to export. If the typed name doesn t match a product hierarchy in the project then the project hierarchy names are listed and you can retype the name. Select the name of the XML file create. A default filename is created with a date/time stamp but you can rename it if you desire. If the filename already exists the existing file will be renamed to have a bak extension. 5

The output filename will be shown on the commandline when the export is complete. Each assembly becomes a selection set. If you don t know the name of the product hierarchy or mistype it, the list of product hierarchies will be listed on the command line. If the product hierarchy has a space in the name then you need to surround the name in double quotes (Eg. MY PH ). 3. PANEL DIMENSIONING Introduction A command to quickly dimension plate panels in production drawings. The command works by creating dimensionable points and running AutoCAD s quick dimension command. There are options to determine which points on the parts will be dimensioned. The dimension points will be projected to X-Y plane of current UCS; AutoCAD Quick Dimension command will be run automatically with all the dimension points generated. You can select where the dimension lines would be placed and choose options in the quick dimension command. You can also leave around the dimension points so that you can remove some which you don t desire to dimension and manually run the quick dimension command (QDIM). 6

To create dimension points 1. Run SCADVPANELDIMPOINTS from the command line. Select Panel Parts: Select plate(s) to dimension. The Dimension Point Options window is shown. 4. Check or uncheck options and click OK. Dimension points will be generated based on selected plates and Options; QDIM is going to be called automatically and passed in those points as selected points. Specify dimension line position, or [Continuous/Staggered/Baseline/Ordinate/Radius/Diameter/datumPoint/Edit/seTtings] <Continuous>: 7

Dimension Point Options Leave generated dimension points around If checked, all generated points will be kept in the drawing after the command. Bend Tolerance (DEG) A positive angle in degrees. If the bend angle between two adjacent edges is less than the Bend Tolerance, the vertex point where the two edges meet is not considered significant and the vertex will not be a dimension point. Frequently, plate boundaries are created from many small pieces of straight or arc line segments, which would result in many corner points if no bend tolerance was used. 8

The following two images show that a larger bend tolerance will remove those extra corner points. Tol: 0.0 (deg) Tol: 3.(deg) Lines in the following image are tangent on vertexes; those points were returned because those straight lines are orthogonal to X-Y plane of current UCS. 9

Assigned Markline Styles All possible part types and mark line styles on plate parts are listed in the Assigned Markline Styles list. You can select specific mark line styles to generate dimension points for. ShipConstructor will generate dimension points for the end points that correspond to marklines with styles matching the selected styles. Include Points Stiffener Cutout Outline Points and Center Points options are related. If you want to see any arc s center point on the cutout, you should check both of these check boxes. Stiffener Cutout Outline Points and Cutout Origin Points options are not related. You can select either of them to show those points. Stiffener Cutout Origin Points Selecting this check box will generate dimension points for all stiffener cutout origin points (where the moldline of the stiffener passed though the plane of the plate. Stiffener cutouts are those automatically generated cutouts; manually created cutouts on plates will not get any points returned. 10

Center Points Selecting this check box will generate dimension points for center points from arcs. Inside Line Points Selecting this check box will generate dimension points for all points from inside cut lines like lighting holes and penetrations. Inside Line Points and Center Points options are related. If you want to see any arcs center point on the cutout, you should check both of these check boxes. 11

4. PROJECT EXPLORER Introduction The project explorer is a palette that can be up for the entire ShipConstructor session. This palette can be docked in the AutoCAD window on the left or right, or can be undocked. 12

Features Double-clicking a drawing will open it, as long as it exists. Entering filter text will filter drawings and headings. To see Structure Drawings, type in Structure in the filter, hit Enter and you ll see the results filtered as below. Just expand which Structure folder for easy navigation. The Details box gives extra information about the selected drawing. It can be hidden or shown by pressing the arrows on the top right of the box. The Refresh button near the top right of the main drawings box will refresh the entire drawing list. This can take as long as 30 seconds for very large projects. The Recent Drawings tab, lists recently opened drawings. These may not be ShipConstructor drawings. Double-clicking on the drawing in this tab will also open it, provided it still exists. 13

5. SHOW PART PROPERTIES IN DRAWING Introduction This command will bring up the Part Properties palette. From this palette, you will be able to select a BOM definition, and essentially preview the part s BOM properties while still in the model drawing. The Part Properties Pallette The loading of the data is done on a separate thread, so you will be able to continue to model in ShipConstructor while the data loads. When switching drawings, the palette will automatically refresh with the now current drawing data for the selected BOM definition. Selecting a part in the model will select it in the palette listing, and vice versa. To view other properties or change columns, you must update your BOM definition in Manager. 6. STORING COMMERCIAL EXTENTS IN USER-DEFINED ATTRIBUTES Introduction This feature allows you to save the height and length of all structure parts in a plate nest drawing as values in a User-Defined Attribute. 14

To save the commercial extents for all the parts in the current drawing 1. Run SCADVSaveMinExtentsStructure from the command line. No other input is required. This command creates two User-Defined Attributes called Min Rectangular Height" and "Min Rectangular Length" (if those UDAs do not currently exist). Those UDAs are then assigned (if the UDAs aren t already) to the various Structure part types: Plate, Stiffener, Faceplate, Twisted Stiffener, Curved Plate, and Corrugated Plate. Fabricated Profile Components are ignored. For each of those parts in the current plate nest drawing, their minimum lengths and heights are calculated, and the corresponding values saved as the value for the UDAs. These UDAs can then be added to Bill of Materials to display them. Existing UDAs values are updated during successive commands. 7. SHIPCONSTRUCTOR TASKS Introduction ShipConstructor Tasks are a way of associating a set of changes in a ShipConstructor project with a specific task. When an ShipConstructorTask is complete users can see what in the ShipConstructor was affected while working on the task. SDI, MDI, SCSDI Introduction MDI (Multiple Document Interface, enabled by setting SDI<0>) is an AutoCAD environment that has been disabled when using ShipConstructor without the SAP. You can partially enable it with the SCSDI command which will allow MDI but prevent multiple ShipConstructor drawings from being opened at a time. MDI is now fully available in the Subscription Advantage Pack. 24

Using MDI mode To fully enable MDI mode, SCSDI needs to be set to 0. If this is not set then only one ShipConstructor drawing will be permitted to be open at a time. Opening another ShipConstructor drawing will close the other drawings. Once SCSDI is turned off, a prompt will be presented when running Navigator. The "Do not show again" check box will prevent the user from being prompted in the future and can be disabled in the AutoCAD options dialog: 25

10. SHEET SETS Introduction This set of features adds ShipConstructor oriented functionality to production packages within the scope of AutoCAD Sheet Sets and the AutoCAD Sheet Set Manager (SSM). This set of commands is intended to speed up and reduce the effort required to create production packages by leveraging AutoCAD s Sheet Sets. The user interface is the Sheet Set Manager (SSM) which is a dockable pallette and is opened with the function SSM, SHEETSET, Ctrl + 4 or in the Ribbon under View - Pallettes The Sheet Set Manager is native to AutoCAD. See AutoCAD help documentation to learn the core functionality and purpose of Sheet Sets and the Sheet Set Manager. Disclaimer: All open Sheet Sets are operated on, not just the current Sheet Set. Therefore, all of the following functions are performed on all open Sheet Sets with an assumption that they are related to the currently connected ShipConstructor Project. Renumbering All Sheets Adding sheets to a Sheet Set can prove to be tedious because the renumbering process requires manual work using a wizard to renumber all Sheets after the inserted Sheet(s). For a numbering convention which is simply 1 to n consecutive integers, this function can save a lot of time. 26

To renumber all Sheets in ALL open Sheet Sets: Warning: NOT only the current Sheet Set will be renumbered! All open Sheet Sets will be renumbered! 1. Run SCADVNUMBERSHEETS from the command line. Before and After renumbering Sorting Sheets Sorting Sheet order within a Sheet Set may prove to be tedious. Depending on convention, sorting by Build Strategy, Product Hierarchy, or alphabetically may be a useful starting point. Sorting is restricted to Sheet Set level. That is, Sheets are sorted relative to each other only within the subset of which they exist. Sorting alphabetically will operate on all Sheets in all open Sheet Sets. Even Sheets from non-shipconstructor drawings will be sorted. To alphabetically sort Sheets in ALL open Sheet Sets: Warning: NOT only the current Sheet Set will be sorted! All open Sheet Sets will be sorted! 1. Run SCADVSORTSHEETSAZ or SCADVSORTSHEETSZA from the command line. 27

Before alphabetical sorting 28

After AZ alphabetical sorting 29

After ZA alphabetical sorting Sorting by Product Hierarchy will operate on Sheets which can be associated with a Product Hierarchy. This includes Sheets which represent layouts from Assembly drawings, Pipe Spool drawings, and HVAC Spool drawings. Assembly layouts from a given Product Hierarchy are sorted relative to each other based on the order of that Product Hierarchy. Pipe Spool drawing layouts are sorted relative to each other based on the order of the Primary Product Hierarchy. HVAC Spool drawing layouts are sorted relative to each other based on the order of the Primary Product Hierarchy. All other Sheets maintain their positions. Custom Properties Sheet Sets support custom properties which can be added to dynamic text objects called fields. These are a very powerful tool which make keeping production packages up to date much less tedious. Any annotation object may contain fields. These include single and multi-line text, tables, leaders, and dimensions. They may exist directly in the drawing or in a block. However, fields located within annotation objects included in a block will require use of the Block Attribute Manager to update (command line BATTMAN ). Functions to populate and update Custom Property values are provided if they exist in the open Sheet Set(s) with the following names corresponding to ShipConstructor Attributes: Currently supported Sheet Set level Custom Properties: NA Currently supported Sheet level Custom Properties: ShipConstructor Layout Revision Note, it is left up to the user to create any or all of these Custom Properties in the Sheet Sets. These functions will not do anything if ShipConstructor cannot find the Custom Properties with these names. To add Custom Properties to a Sheet Set and it s Sheets: 30

1. When the Sheet List tab or the Sheet Views tab is selected in the Sheet Set Manager, Right-Click on the Sheet Set (head) node and select Properties 2. Select Edit Custom Properties 31

3. Add the ShipConstructor Custom Properties with the Name and Owner as follows. Set the Default Values as desired. To update all Sheet level ShipConstructor Custom Properties for ALL open Sheet Sets: 1. Run SCADVSETSHEETATTRIBUTES from the command line. To update ShipConstructor BOM Revision Numbers (which are a Sheet level Custom Property) for ALL open Sheet Sets: 1. Run SCADVSETSHEETREVNUMS from the command line. 32

Note: If a Sheet level Custom Property cannot be associated with a value, the default value is assigned. For example, non-shipconstructor layouts will have these Custom Properties set to the default value. Note: Currently the only Sheet level Custom Property supported is the ShipConstructor BOM Revision Number, so the results of the functions SC ADVSETSHEETATTRIBUTES and SCADVSETSHEETREVNUMS are the same. 11. WELD MANAGER PALETTE Introduction The weld manager can now be used either as a window, or a palette. The Weld Manager palette is an experimental version which offers a new grid for editing welds, and combines the connections and welds into one grid. To open the Weld Manager Palette: Use the SCAdvWeldMan command in a ShipConstructor weld management drawing. The original Weld Manager is still available from the SCWeldMan command. The original Weld Manager has functionality the palette does not have: Copy welds Validate current welds when opening the Weld Manager Assign weld path by connection Overview The Weld Manager is the main control center for creating and modifying all welds in a ShipConstructor project. The Weld Manager is only accessible when the current drawing is a Weld Management drawing. The manager can generate welds for any assemblies within the current unit, even if they are not loaded into the current Weld Management drawing. Product Hierarchy The left panel tree. contains a Product Hierarchy tree with limited functionality. The functions are accessed by right clicking on items within the The tree and the drawing react together. Parts selected in the tree will be selected in the drawing, and parts selected in the drawing will be selected in the tree. Drag and drop functionality for reassigning parts to new assemblies is disabled in the Weld Manager, and new assemblies may not be created, nor can assemblies be removed. 33

Function Zoom To Find Load Unload Delete Welds Synchronize Welds Display Welds Description Zoom to parts selected in the tree. Find parts by name in the tree. Load selected parts into the current drawing Unload selected parts from the current drawing Delete welds for selected assemblies Synchronize welds (match welds to parts) for selected assemblies Display welds for selected assemblies Welds Grid The right panel contains all welds for the assemblies selected in the Product Hierarchy. When an assembly is selected, the welds shown include all welds for the assembly and any sub-assemblies. Using this grid, you can perform various edits on selected welds. Function Description Delete selected welds Delete Edit properties for selected welds. Useful for changing multiple welds in a single edit. Properties Assign a new weld standard for selected welds. Standard Isolates the selected welds by hiding other parts and welds not in the current selection. Focus On Shows all parts and welds. Reset Focus Exports the welds shown in the grid to a text file formatted as TSV (Tab separated values) Export TSV Imports a text file formatted as TSV (Tab separated values) into the welds currently loaded in the palette. Import TSV This grid provides extra functionality from other ShipConstructor grids. Function Description 34

Dragging a column by its header into this area will group the rows by this column. You can drag multiple column headers. Group rows by selected columns To remove a grouping, drag the column header back to the grid. Filter rows by criteria Click on the filter icon in a column header to set the filtering criteria for that column. A popup dialog similar to this one will appear: Opening the Is equal to combo box will provide many logical operators you can use to define your criteria. Filtering will occur when the dialog is closed by selecting the Filter button or the x butto n. The Clear Filter button will remove this filter from the row filtering criteria. Removes all filters from the row filtering criteria. Clear Filters 35
