2 Important Notes To enhance the security level that the ECLYPSE Series controllers provide, we have implemented an algorithm that requires a password change after a user s first login to the controller. This makes certain that the factory default password is modified for security reasons. Due to this implementation, a password update will be required at the first login attempt of each user, after updating ECLYPSE controllers with firmware version The HTTPS certificate management has been improved. It s recommended to update the ECLYPSE Controllers to the latest firmware version After the update, if the HTTPS controller is used by the controller, you ll need to download the new certificate to the PC in use, using the Export Authority Public Key button in the ECLYPSE Configuration Web Interface under System Settings. Figure 1: Export Authority Public Key To take advantage of the new features offered by the new verison of XpressNetwork Utility available in this release, please update the ECLYPSE controllers firmware to the latest version For the 50 Series Display to function properly after updating the 50 Series ECB and ECL controllers with the latest firmware version (see the ECB BACnet and ECL LONWORKS 50 Series Controllers section for the different controllers firmware versions), the 50 Series Display firmware has to be also updated to the latest firmware version The new Distech Controls Software Compatibility document that includes PC requirements for all Distech Controls software tools, as well as a software intercompatibility table. For more details, refer to this document on SmartSource. 2

4 New Features and Enhancements The following new features have been added in this release: Bridge connection in Wi-Fi Client mode: All ECLYPSE Connected Controllers now allow the wireless adapter to be used in Client mode simultaneously with the wired connection. This enables device connectivity through Wired IP to Wi-Fi, and back to a Wired IP network. This option is ideal in situations where passing network wires is impractical, for example to jump an atrium. 5 The RESTful API is now documented and available at With the RESTful API, the ECLYPSE controllers data can now be accessed from different applications, such as energy dashboards, analytics tools, and mobile applications. The RESTful API documentation explains the implementation protocol for this interface. Figure 4: RESTful API documentation 5

6 xpressenvysion: In addition to the embedded ENVYSION Studio and Viewer, the ECLYPSE Connected System Controller now comes embedded with xpressenvysion. xpressenvysion offers a simplified and streamlined experience in a workflow oriented, drag & drop GUI environment while ENVYSION still offers the full customization features and editing environment. 7 RS-485 port settings: The Connected System Controller now supports 2 additional RS-485 ports when connected to an ECY-RS485 module. These port settings are configured in the ECLYPSE Web Configuration Interface when used with BACnet MS/TP devices or in EC-gfxProgram when used with Modbus RTU devices. Figure 7: Multiple RS-485 ports MIMO Technology: ECLYPSE controllers Wi-Fi communication now uses MIMO (multipleinput and multiple-output) technology. This allows wireless communication to reach higher speeds and improve the wireless network s performance. Strong Passwords: ECLYPSE controllers now support configurable strong passwords for login. The password strength level is configurable through the ECLYPSE Configuration Interface. This gives enough flexibility to meet the different security requirements for each site. 7

9 EC-gfxProgram Version New Features and Enhancements ECY-303 Support: EC-gfxProgram now supports the ECY-303 Connected Equipment Controller Series. A new menu item under the IO Module folder is now available in the Resource Configuration menu. Figure 9: ECY-303 controller inputs and outputs Configuration 9

10 LCD Screen block in EC-gfxProgram: The LCD Screen block was updated to reflect the new 50 Series controllers and ECx-Display user access settings. This allows users to export the BACnet Objects of the selected programming sheets into an Engineering Data Exchange (EDE) file format, which is a standard format that uses a collection of.csv files to share information about BACnet controllers between vendors. 11 Full Project Print: Multiple programming sheets can now be printed in one operation due to the new menu item added to the Print menu. Figure 6: Project Print Window Notification Class block: A new Notification Class block has been added and can be used to make the notification class status and statistical data available for use in the programming logic. For all objects linked to the specified notification class, the block s outputs show the total number of objects that are currently in alarm and whether alarms have been acknowledged or not. This block is available for the ECB and ECY Series controllers. Figure 6: Notification Class block 11

12 AlarmInhibit property: A new AlarmInhibit property has been added to the alarm configuration settings of BACnet objects. This property can be activated either by writing to the AlarmInhibit port that can be available in the BACnet Object block (see figure below) or by selecting an Inhibit binary value from the drop down menu in the alarm configuration (see figure below). This property is available for the ECLYPSE Series controllers. Figure 6: AlarmInhibit port Figure 6: Inhibit binary value drop-down menu RJ Adapter Support: The Subnet Extension block has a new RJ Adaptor configuration to support the RJ9 to RJ45 adaptor that is used to connect a multi-sensor or an EC-Smart- Sense to the subnet port of an ECB, ECL, or ECY Series controllers. 12

13 Figure 11: RJ Adapter block and configuration page in the Resource Configuration Window Weather block: A Weather block is now available in EC-gfxProgram that allows EC-Net AX weather data to be available for use in the programming logic in EC-gfxProgram. For example, the Weather block s Temperature output (outdoor temperature) can be used in the programming logic to better optimize the control of the indoor temperature by taking into account the current outdoor weather conditions. This block is available for ECY and ECB Series controllers. Figure 12: Weather block 13

14 Hide/Show Ports context menu item: the block s context menu now shows a new Show/Hide Ports item that allows the user to show and/or hide ports without having to open the Configure Ports window. With this new context menu item, showing or hiding ports is quicker than ever. Figure 13: Port Visibility contextual menu item 14

15 ECY Series EC-Schedule now supports the Enumeration List Editor allowing to create an enumeration, change the number of members in an enumeration, or change an enumeration member s properties. In addition, for a Boolean schedule, the True Text and False Text fields are now editable. Figure 15: TriggerTrendLog port Bug Fixes The following issues have been fixed in this release: Removed ECx-Light unused reverse action option. Wrong value in the Subnet extension error output port. EC-gfxProgram freezing when the output panel is in floating mode. Erratic ComSensor CO2 value on ECY Series controllers. Error when Override and Set Value actions are triggered on objects newly added to the programming sheet for ECY Series controllers. The Signal Offset parameter of a Hardware Input not taking effect. Signal Offset parameter not available for the Hardware Input of an ECY Series controller. Erratic ComSensor block conversion from ECB to ECY and vice versa. 15

16 ECB Multi State Value and Multi State Input Alarm values configuration not applied correctly. In the Subnet Extension block, the Extension type drop-down menu items have typos. In the Resource Configuration window, ENVYSION Data Tree items have erratic behaviour. When changes are cancelled (by clicking Cancel instead of Ok to the Resource Configuration window), they are still applied to the ENVYSION Data Tree. Snippet conversion issues with the following blocks: Subnet Extension, Wireless Sensor, Light Output, Sunblind Output, Light Sunblind Input. Some parameters change unexpectedly when the Resource Configuration window is reopened after having cancelling (by clicking Cancel) the last modifications. Debug values are not rounded even when Round Debug Values is checked in the Debugging section of the main ribbon. Trend log name of a duplicate object is not correct. Trend log object type is not changed when the Hardware Input type is changed. (T10416) Format contextual menu item still appears even when not relevant. 16

18 New Features and Enhancements The following new features have been added in this release: The user access rights were slightly modified to increase security while implementing a more flexible method to provide access rights to items that have been added to the Favorites groups for the Operator and Guest user types. Different rights (Read, Write, or No Access) can be set for each different Favorites group. Figure 16: LCD screen user access configuration 18

19 XpressNetwork Utility Version Important Notes To take advantage of the new features offered by the new verison of XpressNetwork Utility available in this release, please update the ECLYPSE controllers firmware to the latest version New Features and Enhancements The following new features have been added in this release: Parameters Auto-Increment: Some parameters such as the Hostname, Controller Name, Wi-Fi SSID and BACnet Device ID are now auto-incremented to avoid duplicates that can cause communication errors. For example, when configuring the hostname for 10 controllers, and starting with VAV10, the last controller will be VAV20. Figure 17: Hostname auto-increment Referencing to other parameters: For a faster network setup, some parameters can be referenced to the hostname. For example, if the Controller Name parameter of each ECLYPSE controller is the same as its Hostname, the Controller Name parameter can be referenced to the Hostname by entering the following in the Controller Name field: {hostname}. 19

20 Figure 18: Using the hostname as a variable for other parameters Date & Time settings: the date & time settings are now synchronized with the PC using a check box. If the box is checked, the PC current date & time will be sent to the selected controllers. Figure 19: Date & Time synchronization ENVYSION project download: An ENVYSION project can now be downloaded to the ECLYPSE controllers as a.zip file. Unzipping the file is no longer necessary. Figure 20: ENVYSION project file Communicating using HTTPS: The XpressNetwork Utility can now be used even when the ECLYPSE controllers are configured to use the HTTPS protocol. 20

21 Firmware Update progress: During the execution of a firmware update job to one or multiple controllers, a progress report is now available. In addition, it s now possible to cancel the firmware update during execution if needed. Figure 21: ENVYSION project file Bug Fixes The following issues have been fixed in this release: Application freezing when too many jobs are present in the Job History pane. A job still shows as successful even one at least one task has failed. 21

22 Xpressgfx Points Version New Features and Enhancements The following new features have been added in this release: Xpressgfx Points now supports ECY-303 Series controllers. Figure 22: New ECY-303 Controller Bug Fixes The following issues have been fixed in this release: Fixed export to EC-gfxProgram issues on ECY-S1000 Controllers with more than 9 IO modules. Fixed validation issues with NI1000@ C sensors. 22

26 New! mydc AirBalancing Version mydc AirBalancing is a mobile application that is designed to simplify the task of air balancers by enabling them to perform the Variable Air Volume (VAV) system balancing procedure via their mobile devices. This mobile application works with Distech Controls ECB-VAV Series BACnet Controllers, ECL-VAV Series LONWORKS Controllers, and ECLYPSE Connected VAV Controllers (ECY-VAV series). This app is available for both ANDROID and ios devices and provides convenient and secure access to the VAV controllers connected within an EC-Net AX building automation system. Users can benefit from the following features: VAV Network View: an overall view that displays the status of all the recognized VAV controllers within the network. The VAV network is updated in real-time, giving the user up-todate information at all times. Figure 26: VAV Controller Network 26

27 Simple Calibration: Air balancers can save time by using a simple calibration feature, requiring only the measured airflow value to be entered and the VAV controller adjusts accordingly. All information is synchronized with the BMS instantly through EC-Net AX. 28 Damper Overrides: Perform individual damper override commands on any selected VAV controller(s). Even during the balancing process, override commands will not affect any of the general group commands, making sure that the balancing process is not interrupted unless required. Figure 29: VAV Damper Override within Network (landscape view) Batch Commands: Users can easily perform batch commands during the balancing process, allowing them to save valuable time. Commands, such as Override or Auto can be quickly applied to a batch of selected VAVs located in specific zones in the building. Figure 30: Batch Commands (landscape view) 28

29 Preset Options: Benefit from preset options, such as: Normal Operation, Goto Min Flow, and Full Open that can help save critical time during the balancing process. Figure 31: Preset Options (portrait view) Damper Status Indication: Color-coded indications of each individual VAV damper provides visual information to the user: a) Orange indicates an override from the mydc AirBalancing App; b) Purple indicates an override from EC-Net AX or with a higher priority than the mydc AirBalancing app; c) Green indicates the damper is in normal operation; Figure 32: Damper Override from mydc AirBalancing (landscape view) 29

31 Productivity Enhancing Tools Version New Features and Enhancements The following new features have been added in this release: The support of the EC-Smart-Comfort and EC-Smart-Air in all the Preloaded VAV and Pre-engineered VAV Applications for the ECB-VAV Series, ECL-VAV Series, and ECY-VAV series. Refer to the Productivity Enhancing Tools readme file on the Smart- Installer for more details. Updated dcgfxapplications in EC-gfxProgram; o ECB-VAV Series, ECL-VAV Series, ECB-PTU Serie,s and ECL-PTU Series devices are now updated to version 2.5. Updated dcgfxapplication.palette : o ECB-VAV Series, ECL-VAV Series, ECB-PTU Series, and ECL-PTU Series devices are now updated to version

32 New BACnet OptimumStart Custom Block in the HVAC section: Bug Fixes The following issues have been fixed in this release: ECB-PTU Series and ECL-PTU Series: o o o o o o Issue with EC-Smart-Comfort in unoccupied and standby mode. Fan stop delay not working when valve is configured in normally opened position. EC-Smart-Comfort Fan Speed overrides. Fan validation for electric heater when used in cooling mode. Issues when EC-Smart-Comfort sends Value to network in Standby and unoccupied mode.
