4 Overview The release of GOCAD Mining Suite 17 update1 focuses on usability and stability with the introduction of a digitizing/editing taskpane that incorporates menu bar editing tools with the standard digitizing tools. We have made adjustments to certain importers to make them more efficient. There are additional new tools and fixes in the following modules: Mining Utilities Targeting Workflow Potential Fields Electromagnetics iogas Link SKUA-GOCAD New and updated functionality Mining Utilities To facilitate more efficient digitizing and editing of atomic objects (PointsSets, Curves, and Surfaces), a new taskpane has been added. It removes the need for multiple mouse clicks to access the Digitization/Editing toolbar or the Editing menus. All node, segment, and triangle editing tools are available, as are the part editing tools. When digitizing an object, there are three possible scenarios: o o o The new object has both an existing name and feature. (To add it to the existing object and feature as a part, type its name and press Enter.) The name (and object) is new and is to be placed into an existing feature. (Type both its name and feature then press Enter.) The name is new, and the object is to be a new feature. (To create an unassigned object, type its name only and press Enter. You should use the Assign objects to Geologic Features button in the lower section of the taskpane to assign it.) Other commonly used commands are also available, such as: Densify Curves, Apply Script (on parts and objects), Drape Object, and Set Property Constant. 6 There are several updates to the ODBC Drillhole Importer: o o You can now place.ini files in C:\Users\<current_user>\Documents\DrillholesDB in addition to the system-wide location, C:\Program Files\Paradigm\SKUA- GOCAD-17\MiraUtilities\lib\app-defaults\DrillholesDB. Both locations are scanned sequentially by the importer and its interface dialog. The connection string format in the.ini file has changed. You can either specify a simple ODBC Data Source Name (DSN) or a fully qualified ODBC connection string. Examples of the more common connection strings are installed in C:\Program Files\Paradigm\SKUAGOCAD-17\MiraUtilities\lib\appdefaults\DrillholesDB. These template.ini files can be copied to your Documents directory and customized to suit your data model. Additional ODBC connection strings examples can be found on sites such as The importer will notify you if the connection string in your.ini file needs to be updated but we recommend reviewing the documentation for subtle changes that may affect edge cases. ASCII File Importer now allows you to specify the type of delimiter (comma, space, or tab), and adds the ability to treat consecutive delimiters as one. 7 Compute Distance to Nearest Neighbour now has an advanced option to ignore points with the same HoleID. Designed to work with desurveyed PointsSets to avoid detecting adjacent points within the same drillhole. Because HoleID is a discrete property, you can extend this functionality to any discrete property such as a rock classification. 8 Compute Distance to Object now allows you to calculate the lateral 2D distance alongside the standard 3D distance. The Geoscience ANALYST.geoh5 exporter now supports the export of iogas graphics and places the drillholes list in a Well Group. 9 Targeting Workflow You now have the option to create and use a copy of the input Voxet in the Evidential Properties panel. When selected, the working copy will be named <Voxet_name>_ <workflow_name> and placed in the Mineral Potential Model classification in a feature of the same new name as the copied Voxet. This allows you to use the same source Voxet as input to multiple workflow instances. You can now calculate the Weights of Evidence posterior probability either in the userdefined model region, or everywhere in the input Voxet. This allows you to compute the posterior logit on the entire set of Evidential Properties, including those cells with missing data. 10 Potential Fields The 3D Heterogeneous Density/Susceptibility Starting Model command combines two wizards to generate starting models for heterogeneous VPmg inversion, including an upper layer of constant thickness. Overall functionality has been improved by allowing the model extents and resolution to be defined from either an existing Voxet or from user-defined corner points and resolution. 11 A new Create Region Data Points at Edge of Model creates a region on an input PointsSet within the user-specified distance from the edges of the Voxet model. It is located in Potential Fields\VPmg\Data Preparation\Resample Data. Resample Gridded Data to Model Resolution for Export now has an option to remove data near the model edge. 12 Electromagnetics The Create VPem SGrid Mesh with Vertical Extents command has been introduced and generates an SGrid with expanding vertical cell sizes to depth. Grid extents are defined either from an existing grid or from user-input coordinates. Options are also present to drape the SGrid beneath a nominated topography surface or at a constant elevation. 13 Fixed issues Mining Utilities In certain instances, attaching property logs to new or existing drillholes has been slow. This has been fixed in GOCAD Mining Suite 17 update1. Geosoft GDB Importer speed has been improved. In certain instances, Geosoft.grd Exporter is no longer unresponsive. Issues with lift and swing directions for the Drillhole Designer Collar to Target command have been fixed. iogas Link A problem when iogas data with a '/' in a property name, such as Log(Zr/TiO2), is brought into GOCAD has been solved. For all such properties, the '/' is replaced by _ div_ in GOCAD Mining Suite 17 update1. SKUA-GOCAD SKUA-GOCAD 17 support packs 1, 2, and 3 have been included in our installer as they resolve issues reported by our clients, such as: Viewing Voxet and 2D Survey objects with Viewer-only licences. Creating cross sections from Voxet sections by right-clicking them in the 3D Viewer. Preventing a complete rebuild of faults when updating the fault network after exiting and reopening the project in the Structure and Stratigraphy (SKUA) workflow. 14 Supported third-party programs and APIs GOCAD Mining Suite 17 update1 supports the following software versions of our partners: AcQuire API Geosoft API 8.4* PFD3D API iogas UBC and earlier VPmg 9.1 and earlier VPem1D 4.0 and earlier *To use any of our commands that rely on the Geosoft API, Geosoft requires that you have a Geosoft ID. 15 Supported Operating Systems GOCAD Mining Suite 17 update1 is supported on Microsoft Windows x64 Systems: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. IMPORTANT A valid licence is required to run this new version. If you are licensing the software in a server-client configuration, you must update both the server and the client machines to this new version.
