1 Signaling Analyzer / Network Analyzer Release Notes for Welcome to the patch release of the Signaling Analyzer software ( ) and Network Analyzer software ( ). This document provides installation instructions and a list of the software issues this patch addresses. Follow the instructions in this document to upgrade to this software patch release. To update Network Analyzer software on the DNA PRO or DNA MX systems, JDSU recommends using Instrument Manager. (Note: Self-installation of Signaling Analyzer on these platforms is no longer supported.) 2 Installation Notes and Instructions The Signaling Analyzer patch is intended to be installed over Signaling Analyzer FCS release or VP patch release. The Network Analyzer patch is intended to be installed over Network Analyzer FCS release or VP patch release. Note the following: Prior to installing the patch, refer to the release notes for Signaling Analyzer and Network Analyzer , and to the online Network Analysis and Troubleshooting Solutions Setup Guide, to install the main release. When the Signaling Analyzer and Network Analyzer software applications are to be used together (for example, when using the Signaling Analyzer to analyze network traffic captured using DNAs / LIMs), the version of the software must be Signaling Analyzer and Network Analyzer Running SART and NA applications must be stopped and closed before installing the patch. You must reboot the machine prior to installing the patch and again after installing the patch. It is recommended to purge the UE tracker database using the Purge button beside the UE Context Tracking option in Tools > Options > Deciphering tab after you have installed a new patch over an existing patch. Use the following installation instructions if you received your patch software electronically from a JDSU Sales or Support representative. To install the Signaling Analyzer or Network Analyzer patch, follow these steps: 1. Restart your machine before installing the patch to free up any blocked resources. 2. Obtain the Signaling Analyzer software and/or the Network Analyzer software, or their download locations, from your JDSU Sales or Support Representative. 3. Unzip the sart patch.zip file or the na patch.zip file to a convenient location on your PC. 4. Double-click the sart patch.exe file or the na patch.exe file. Follow the installation prompts. 5. Once the installation has completed, start the Signaling Analyzer and Network Analyzer applications and use Help About to verify that your Signaling Analyzer software version is and your Network Analyzer software version is After installing the patch, restart your machine. 3 To install the Network Analyzer patch only on the DNA MX or DNA PRO, use Instrument Manager: 1. Start Instrument Manager and add the instrument using the Add Instrument button. 2. Select the instrument from the main view and click the SW Update button. You can upgrade software on multiple instruments by selecting Ctrl as you click each additional instrument. 3. Click the Browse button to find the patch update, and select na patch.exe. 4. Click OK to apply the software update. Firmware Update on Connected DNAs When you have daisy-chained DNAs or DNA HDs that are connected to a DNA MX or DNA PRO, the firmware update of those DNAs will happen automatically at the time of installation. CAUTION: While this firmware update is occurring, DO NOT turn off power to these devices or remove any of their LIMs until these devices are visible in the Select LIM dialog box in the Network Analyzer software. Issues Addressed This section lists the issues resolved for this patch. Note that patches are cumulative. Thus, also listed are issues resolved in previous patches which are also included in this patch. Issues resolved with the release SA IQ IQ IQ In the SART configuration window, when you click the Filters Enabled button, you must use the mouse to select the Port number and update the corresponding values in the dialog box. You cannot use the keyboard functionality. Resolved an CP and UP evaluation issue that caused RRC messages not to be reassembled correctly. Fixed an issue of incorrect display of "Service Request" message in the Phase graphic tooltip summary as RRCConnectionReject. Resolved NT30 error when running 3GPP R8 iub&iu&iur combined CT. Resolved an issue of X2AP message over Radio layer not able to be grouped with LTE CT. Enhanced the MultiUserServer.log and SART client murec.log so that user initiated disconnection and equipment initiated disconnection could be easily identified. Resolved a GUI issue of not able to scroll the Traffic Overview screen to the bottom. Resolved an issue of SART crash due to LTE tracing. Resolved an issue of call not being correlated into a single call for Circuit Switched call with SRB on efach. Resolved an issue of SART hanging up due to malformed IP packet. Resolved a reassembly issue during mid call. Resolved a PCAP decode issue. Resolved a 2G Classmark Update decode issue. Resolved an issue that ISUP messages are not able to be grouped with MAP and CAP messages. Resolved an issue that CTSD shows only one RNC instead of two in SRNS Relocation scenario. Resolved an issue that RRC Measurement Report is not decoded Properly Resolved a View filter instability issue. If you are reusing view filter files containing Linksets info, please note the following: The recent enhancement made to view filter file (.FLT) has the following key changes: Port information stores extra intelligence to make it more robust to changes made in the configuration Apply filter to port only feature implies that any changes made to protocol stacks should have no impact on filter info (as seen in view filter dialog). Protocol stack could potentially be changed in multiple ways which generally gives an impression of view filter not being stable enough. Apply filter to port only remains applicable across sessions unless specifically unselected. Upgrade Procedure These changes are backward compatible. So, if you import an old.flt file, it would get imported successfully minus any configuration discrepancy (between the one in stored.flt and current configuration). In case of discrepancy, the difference would be that ports and stack info would be shown as unselected. All you need to do is make the desired settings and re-save it (in.flt file). Resolved an issue of Cancel button being locked out during the TO cache refresh after pressing the Stop button during the live traffic capture. Resolved a decode issue on RLC PDUc. Resolved a 3G RRCConnectionSetupComplete decode issue. Resolved an issue that ISDN over IP messages was wrongly decoded. Resolved an issue of calls not being correlated between IP Iu and ATM Iub. Resolved an issue that in SS7 combined CT (CAP&BICC&IUSP&MAP&RANAP), the Called Party Number are not found in most of the call traces, though it appears in the traffic. Resolved an issue of SART not able to decode RRC Connection Request and Cell update when the TF2 option on RACH channel is turned on. Network Analyzer Issues resolved with this release NA IQ IQ Fixed OC3 4port line status handling bug that was only seen in offline mode. Added direct import/export for PCAP file format Connection Stats UI issue - when navigating between samples, the measurement would sometimes lose the current selection. RTCP Monitor would crash in some cases when Run From Buffer using the step option. (Technical Report 101, currently at ) DHCP: Added following options: o RFC4701: (Option 81) Client Fully Qualified Domain Name o o RFC3442: (Option 121) Static route (routing table) Enhanced decode option 82 to decode sub-option field(s) as ASCII if it looks like ASCII versus HEX Fixed issue with unexpected disconnection from MUS that serves a 10G data source when data rates >60% utilization. Issues and Known Problems The following list describes known operational and analysis issues that exist in this patch release. Unless explicitly stated, issues and known problems from previous releases may still exist, but are not listed here. Please refer to previous copies of the release notes for additional information. Signaling Analyzer No issues or known problems are introduced in this patch release. There is one previously unreported issue. Title: Some changes in SART hardware configuration may require reload or reset of view filters. : When hardware-related configurations are changed by such means as loading an.asc file or hardware.cfg, or through the Configuration View, the changed configuration is not known to the view filter. When the new configuration has elements incompatible with the filter (such as Message Match in the context of the view filter dialog), such as a port s interface definition, the filtered output may not be as expected. 8 Workaround: When hardware configuration parameters are changed, always reload the filter file (especially if Message Match is used), or uncheck all filters and re-select again.
