2 Abstract This article describes how to create an analyst viewer user and group. Create an analyst viewer group in the Administrator tool to grant a large number of users access to view and share profiles and scorecards in the Analyst tool. An analyst viewer user can view profiles and scorecards but cannot create or edit profiles and scorecards. Create an analyst viewer user or group in Informatica Administrator to assign users in the group the read permission on profiles and scorecards in Informatica Analyst. An analyst viewer group provides a large number of users access to view and share profiles and scorecards in the Analyst tool. An analyst viewer user can run a profile, export drill down results, and view objects within shared projects in the Analyst tool. An analyst viewer user cannot edit a profile, add a rule to a profile, add a score to an existing scorecard from a profile, export profiling results to a reference table, or create and edit a reference table. Use the Administrator tool to create an analyst viewer group and assign users to the group. Use the Analyst tool to assign users and group permissions on projects. Perform the following steps to create an analyst viewer user and group: 1. Create a native user. 2. Create an analyst viewer group. 3. Assign users to the analyst viewer group. 4. Grant the users in the analyst viewer group read permissions on projects. Creating an Analyst Viewer User 2. On the Security Actions menu, click Create User. 3. Configure the user. 2

3 The following table describes details for the new user: Property Login Name Login name for the user account. The login name for a user account must be unique within the security domain to which it belongs. The name is not case sensitive and cannot exceed 128 characters. It cannot include a tab, newline character, or the following special characters:, + " \ < > ; / * %? The name can include an ASCII space character except for the first and last character. All other space characters are not allowed. Password Password for the user account. The password can be from 1 through 80 characters long. Confirm Password Full Name Phone Enter the password again to confirm. Full name for the user account. The full name cannot include the following special characters: < > of the user account. The description cannot include the following special characters: < > address for the user. The address cannot include the following special characters: < > Enter the address in the format UserName@Domain. Telephone number for the user. The telephone number cannot include the following special characters: < > 4. Click OK to save the user account. Creating an Analyst Viewer Group The analyst viewer group can contain native or LDAP user accounts or other native groups. 2. On the Security Actions menu, click Create Group. 3. Configure the group. 3

4 The following table describes details for the group: Property Name Parent Group Name of the group. Enter Analyst Viewer as the name. Group to which the new group belongs. If you select a native group before you click Create Group, the selected group is the parent group. Otherwise, Parent Group field displays Native indicating that the new group does not belong to a group. of the group. The group description cannot include the following special characters: < > 4. Click Browse to select a different parent group. You can create more than one level of groups and subgroups. 5. Click OK to save the group. Assigning Users to the Analyst User Group You can assign native or LDAP user accounts to native groups. You cannot change the assignment of LDAP user accounts to LDAP groups. 2. In the Users section of the Navigator, select a native or LDAP user account and click Edit. 3. Click the Groups tab. 4. To assign a user to a group, select the analyst viewer group in the All Groups column and click Add. 5. You can assign a user to more than group. Use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select multiple groups at the same time. 6. Click OK to save the group assignments. Assigning Analyst Viewer User Permissions In the Analyst tool, add users to a project and assign read permissions on a project to provide access to objects within the project. 1. In the Navigator, select a project, and click the Security tab. 2. In the Project-Level Permissions View on the Contents panel, click the Edit icon to edit user permissions. The Edit Project-Level Permissions dialog box appears. 3. Select a user from the Users panel. 4. Optionally, click Add to add another user. The Add Users dialog box appears. 5. Select a user or users that need to have access to the project. 6. Click OK. 7. Select the Read permission in the Permissions panel. Note: Do not select the Write, Execute, or Grant permissions. 8.
