2 What s New in this Release Welcome to VidyoDesktop for Windows and Mac Anchor Version (17) VidyoDesktop Anchor Version Focuses on Conference Security and Management While Improving Usability: New Pre-Call Capabilities Enables Vidyo meetings to be scheduled on the user s default calendar from VidyoDesktop. Integrates with the default calendar application on both Windows and Mac. Allows users to define the default room type they want to use when scheduling a meeting: either their own personal room (also known as "My Room") or a new room that is created for this particular meeting (also known as a scheduled room): If a user chooses to create a scheduled room, each room will have its own unique room link and, optionally, a PIN. With this feature, users can schedule meetings for various purposes (such as a "weekly team meeting", a "company town hall meeting", and so forth) in different rooms without worrying about having the wrong participants barge into their meeting. A meeting in a scheduled room is inherently more secure than a meeting in "My Room" since each meeting has its own unique link. Although you can continue to hold meetings in personal or public rooms, Vidyo recommends using a scheduled meeting room for every new meeting going forward. This feature is available with VidyoPortal version and later. Displays addresses in the search results and contact list to help differentiate between users whose display names are not unique. New In-Call Capabilities For first-time users of VidyoDesktop, displays the list of Vidyo conference participants by default. Users can manually hide or show the participants list while in a call, and the user s selection is remembered for subsequent calls. While enhancing usability, this feature also enhances security by providing the user with a mechanism for always knowing who is on the call. Displays the conference in a small window when sharing the whole desktop during a call. Allows the user to control the shared applications while still viewing the Vidyo conference. Acts as a privacy feature by helping users remember they are on the call. When using more than a single screen, the application s UI will move to one of the screens that is not being shared. Displays non-authenticated users as (Guest) display name on the participants list to enhance conference security. Welcome to VidyoDesktop for Windows and Mac Version (17) Page 2

3 Allows the room owner to easily control the meeting through the VidyoDesktop in-call participants list: Muting the audio, muting the video, and disconnecting other participants. Locking and unlocking the room while in the call. Displays the user s speaker, microphone, and camera mute status on-screen while in a call. Integration with SAML for User Authentication When SAML authentication is enabled on the VidyoPortal, users will be authenticated against the configured SAML authentication system rather than against the VidyoPortal. SAML has become a generally available capability on VidyoPortal version 3.3. Sample use cases include: Enables the use of Vidyo conferencing without having to pre-provision all the users on the VidyoPortal. Enables directory integration without opening access to the corporate directory from the DMZ. Enables use of a third-party service provider s VidyoPortal for enterprises that do not want to deploy their own Vidyo infrastructure, while retaining integration with that enterprises directory. Additional Vidyo endpoints may need to support this feature in your deployment. Vidyo will announce support for endpoints other than VidyoDesktop as they become available. Installer Enhancements Adds support for numerous installation parameters including the following: Default VidyoPortal address Auto-start Default user name Authentication method (VidyoPortal or SAML) as well as the SAML authentication URL when SAML is the authentication method VidyoPortal history Enable or disable chat Enable or disable the ability to share VidyoProxy settings Web Proxy settings Video mode preference Auto-check for new versions Note: For information about VidyoDesktop installation parameters, see page 5. Important Consideration before Installing VidyoDesktop Local port must be open for the skip software update function to work properly. 4 Compatibility To determine which version of the VidyoPortal your VidyoDesktop is compatible with, click Compatibility Matrix, log in to your account on the Vidyo Support Center, and refer to the Software Compatibility Matrix. Important: If VidyoDesktop Anchor version is used with a VidyoPortal version earlier than 3.3.2, the room owner cannot mute the microphone, set the camera to privacy, or disconnect users that were invited to the conference from the invitation options within VidyoDesktop or from the HTML Control Meeting page. The following table defines the compatibility between VidyoDesktop for Windows and Mac Anchor version and OS platforms. 5 Using VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters VidyoDesktop installation parameters are available for deploying a consistent configuration on your users' PCs on both Windows and Macintosh. On Windows, this configuration is done by configuring the MSI installer, and on Macintosh, it is done by configuring the plist files. Please note that when configuring the installers, the VidyoPortal cannot be used for distributing the configured installers; instead, they should be distributed using external distribution tools. Configuring VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters for Windows For Windows, you can use the parameters as part of the VidyoDesktop installation in two ways: Pass the parameters as command line properties. Pass the parameters through an MST file. Both methods are explained in the following sections. Passing VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters via Command Line Properties Command line properties can be added when running the msiexec command. For example: msiexec /i path_to_the_msi_folder\unifiedvidyodesktopmsiinstaller.msi POR- TALHISTO-RY="portal= CHECKFORUP- GRADE=0t Note: Separate more than one parameter with a space using the following syntax: Program_Name.exe /MSI_parameter1 /MSI_parameter2 /MSI_parameter3 Passing VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters through an MST File You can add the parameters to an MST file, which is then read by the Microsoft Windows installer when running the VidyoDesktop installation. The MST file contains software configuration options, allows custom parameters to be used for the installation, and is used to configure test software. In order to generate a.mst file, you must use a tool called ORCA. 1. Install ORCA. 2. Copy the.msi file to a local folder and open it with ORCA. The.msi is generated as a part of the VidyoDesktop build process and should be available in the release folder. 3. Create a new transform: a. Click on Properties in the list of tables on the right-hand side. You will see all the properties that are already programmed as well as the custom secure properties that can be programmed externally. The properties that are in capital letters are public properties and can be modified. b. Right-click in the Property/Value section, select Add Row, and insert the property and value. You can look up the property from the list of custom properties. For more information and examples, see VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters at the end of this section. 6 c. Once all the required changes to properties are done, select Transform > Generate Transform. This creates a.mst file. d. Save the.mst file. 4. Execute the MSI with the transforms by running the following through a command line or in a batch script: msiexec /i path_to_the_msi_folder\unifiedvidyodesktopmsiinstaller.msi TRANS-FORMS=path_to_the_mst_folder\demomsi.mst 5. Launch the app either from the Start menu or from the Program Files > VidyoDesktop folder. Configuring VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters for Macintosh VidyoDesktop uses two plist files called com.vidyo.vidyodesktop3.plist and com.vidyo.vidyodesktop.plist. Ensure that you modify each of the installer parameters in the appropriate plist file. The following section lists the correct plist file for each of the supported configuration parameters. VidyoDesktop Installation Parameters The list of supported installation parameters includes the following: AUTHMETHOD: The authentication method (either VidyoPortal or SAML). For VidyoPortal, leave empty. For SAML, use SAML. CHECKFORUPGRADE: A Boolean value indicating whether to automatically check if a new version is available. To disable automatically checking whether a newer version is available, use 0. To enable automatically checking whether a newer version is available, use 1. ENABLEVIDYOAUTOSTART: A Boolean value indicating whether to automatically start VidyoDesktop when the machine starts. To disable auto-start, use 0. To enable auto-start, use 1. ENABLEFEATURES: Enables or disables chat. To disable chat, use 7. To enable chat, use 15. Using VidyoDestkop Installation Parameters Page 6

7 LOCKUSERNAME: A Boolean value indicating whether the user name can or cannot be modified by the user. When this option is enabled, the Windows/Mac user name will be used as the default user name. PORTALHISTORY: This is a multi-string type which contains the default list of VidyoPortal addresses as well as the default user name. Please note that either of these two parameters is optional. The first string determines the VidyoPortal address and user name which are pre-populated into the respective login screen fields. To pre-populate both the user name and the default VidyoPortal, use PORTALHISTORY="portal=[portal address]&un=[user name]". To default the user name to the Windows/Mac user name, use PORTALHISTORY="portal=[portal address]&un=%username%". To pre-populate only the VidyoPortal without providing a default user name, use PORTALHISTORY="portal=[portal address]". PROXYSETTINGS: The default Web Proxy settings. To use the settings from the operating system, use PROXYSETTINGS=536. To always use VidyoProxy plus use the settings from the operating system, use PROXYSET- TINGS=537. To always use VidyoProxy plus automatically detect the settings, use PROXYSETTINGS=569. To automatically detect the settings, use PROXYSETTINGS=568. SAMLAUTHURL: The SAML authentication URL. This is only used when SAML is the authentication method (e.g., VIDEOMODE: The default video preference. VIDEOMODE is the same as the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vidyo\Vidyo Desktop\2.0\VideoPreferences. It can be modified by opening the Configuration page on the Video tab and setting the desired preference. Once the Apply button is pressed, the registry is changed. 8 WEBPROXYADDRESS: The default Web Proxy address (e.g., "Web Proxy Address" = " "). WEBPROXYPACSCRIPT: The location of the PAC script (e.g., "Web Proxy PAC script" = "/path/to/script"). WEBPROXYPASSWORD: The default Web Proxy user name and password. WEBPROXYPORT: The port number used for Web Proxy (e.g., Web Proxy Port = ).
