1 How to install Clean.Dist file on a Jace 8000 using Serial Shell EC-BOS 8 no longer sports the hit this key on boot-up when in serial shell mode to restore the platform credentials. There is a new method to execute. You can use HyperTerminal, or PuTTY to view the info, enable WiFi, or lan ports. 1. Take a back-up of the station, (USB key needed and press the back-up button etc.. see help) 2. Power down the EC-BOS 8 with USB cable connected 3. Start PuTTY (or HyperTerminal) 4. Press and HOLD the Back-up Button. 5. Power on the EC-BOS 8, maintain the back-up button pressed. 6. In HyperTerminal/Putty you will see the boot up process, after several sequences you will see Release button now to proceed. 7. Release the button, and wait several minutes 8. The output of HyperTerminal will read Reset System. Power cycle and you are done. 9. Factory restore credentials; username = distech password = controls a. Other brands username = tridium password = niagara Connect the USB cable from the laptop running EC-NET to the EC-BOS-8 Tech note; student laptop wouldn t recognize USB cable in UBS 3.0 port?? not sure need to verify We had trouble with HyperTerminal, ended up using PuTTY. Configure the USB com port on the laptop Right Click on Computer icon / Manage

3 The Putty Window presents as a blank window. Cycle power on the Jace 8 while depressing the Backup Button hold Keep depressing the Backup Button until you see; Backup/Restore button press detected. Release button now to proceed Release the button and wait several minutes Wait till you see Reset System!! Then power cycle the Jace 8000 In Terminal Emulation view, you will see the net result; Niagarad: starting, Niagara_user_home Webserver: web server threads started App registry: station registry starting 2

4 Start Platform Daemon Discuss Windows Services show path and properties of Niagara service Start EC-NET-N4 Workbench Factory restore credentials; username = distech password = controls 3

5 Goto Platform / Application Director Notice that there is no Station. The Station is DELETED during a Reset to Factory Credentials. Now install the CLEAN.DIST file Goto Platform / Distribution File Installer Choose Directory for path C:/Niagara/EC-NET-4-4.x.xx.xx/cleanDist Select the file for the Jace 8000 qnx-jace-n4-titan-am335x-clean.dist Click Install 4

6 Commission the Jace File / Open / Open Platform IP enter IP address of Jace Port 3011 Authentication Platform Username Platform Password distech controls Notice that there is no license on a brand new Jace 5

7 Here is the Platform Administrator View Platform rick-click on Platform and select Commissioning Wizard do NOT install a Station on the initial commission 6

8 If the option Install EC-BOS-8 includes Distech.license isn t available, then the internet connection is down Select UX & WB modules Continue with selected modules 7

9 Interface 2 Select Adapter Enabled enter IPv4 Address and Mask Current default = controls Enter new Platform User and Password Username plat Password Niagara123 Minimum needed 10 characters, 1 capital, 1 number 8

10 You can enter multiple Platform Users if needed Notice the updated license after commissioning 9

11 Create a new Station Tools / New Station Name the Station Create password for admin account Lab suggestion Admin

12 Select copy to platform for localhost with Station Copier Uncheck both START AFTER INSTALL and AUTO-START this is the laptop MyHost area 11

13 Commission the Jace again and download the Station this time We already set the passphrase in the previous step. You can uncheck the Set Passphrase this round. 12

14 Discussion; Stations on the Computer Stations on localhost These files are under the Windows User area secured by Windows login credentials These files are NOT under the Windows User. This is considered localhost area. 13

15 Download Distech Support Pack to Jace Platform / Distribution File Installer MUST DOWNLOAD THE SUPPORT PACK AFTER THE STATION IS DOWNLOADED Choose Directory Select folder EC-NET-xxx / Distech Controls Files Select latest DistechControls_EC-BOS-EC-Net4_v4_xxx.dist file and select Install 14

16 Software Dependencies are analyzed Discuss Dependencies After Jace reboots, confirm that the Support Pack shows Status = Up to date Right-click on IP address of Jace Open Station 15

17 Choose Secure Fox TLS Username = admin Password = Admin

18 Adding the WizardService to the Station Click the Open Palette button in the Palette side bar Select palette distechcontrols Install the WizardService: Drag and drop the WizardService from the distechcontrols Palette into the Station s Services tree Configuring the WizardService Modify parameters for communication port and/or the number of simultaneous connections. 17
