5 Introduction Intended audience These release notes support the April 2014 release of the IBM Tioli Netcool Manager Technology Packs and Common Packs. The audiences for this guide are the network administration engineers at IBM customer sites who install, configure, and use technology packs and common packs as part of their Tioli Netcool Manager installation. IBM Professional Serices engineers might also find the guide useful. To install and use technology packs, you must hae a working knowledge of the following subjects: Tioli Netcool Manager DataMart TCP/IP networks Telecommunications network management Administration of the operating system The audiences must be familiar with the specific technology associated with the technology packs. To install and use common packs, you must hae a working knowledge of the following subjects: IBM Tioli Common Reporting or IBM Cognos IBM Cognos Framework Manager IBM Model Maker that is deliered in Tioli Netcool Manager The audiences must be familiar with the specific technology associated with the common packs. Tioli Netcool Manager - Wireline Component IBM Tioli Netcool Manager consists of a wireline component (formerly Netcool/Proiso) and a wireless component (formerly Tioli Netcool Manager for Wireless). Tioli Netcool Manager - Wireline Component consists of the following subcomponents: DataMart is a set of management, configuration, and troubleshooting GUIs. The Tioli Netcool Manager System Administrator uses the GUIs to define policies and configuration, and to erify and troubleshoot operations. DataLoad proides flexible, distributed data collection and data import of SNMP and non-snmp data to a centralized database. DataChannel aggregates the data collected through Tioli Netcool Manager DataLoad for use by the Tioli Netcool Manager DataView reporting functions. It also processes online calculations and detects real-time threshold iolations. DataView is a reliable application serer for on-demand, web-based network reports. Copyright IBM Corp. 1997, 2014

13 Juniper M/T Series Chassis Juniper M/T Series QoS Juniper RSVP Tunnel MIB-II NetFlow IPFIX NSN Carrier Ethernet Switch UBA PVLine Format MIBs are often supported by a range of deices. Only some of these deices support IP6. IBM cannot specify compliance for each deice. Compliance of each deice must be erified with the technology endor. MIB neutrality means that the MIB does not contain IP6 addresses. Note: For Accedian Metro Ethernet and ADVA Optical Metro Ethernet technology packs, the technology endor for these packs do not support IP6 because these packs do not use an IP address and are neutral. The following technology packs do not support IP6: Juniper MPLS Proiso Monitoring Cisco Class-Based QoS Functional changes to technology packs A brief description of functional changes to technology packs in this release. Alcatel-Lucent 5529 SDC Technology Pack The Alcatel-Lucent 5529 Statistics Data Collector (SDC) collects performance data from Alcatel-Lucent network deices (such as 7302/7330/7340 access deices). The SDC receies network inentory from an EMS (in this case, the Alcatel-Lucent 5523 AWS/AMS). The SDC has a northbound interface for integration with performance management products, such as Proiso/Tioli Netcool Manager (wireline). The SDC supports two types of metric collection bulk collection and on-demand details collection. Bulk collection is the long term, periodic collection of performance data. Details collection is for short term, ad-hoc collection of high resolution data. This pack is only concerned with bulk collection. The SDC is configured with a Collection Strategy that specifies which parameters to collect and how often. The collection strategy must be configured by the customer through the SDC s web interface. The collection strategy needs to specify the parameters used by this technology pack. Alcatel-Lucent 5529 SDC Technology Pack supports isam and isamihub families and supports ALU 5520 SDC -R8.2. Functional changes in this technology pack are as follows: 36 new Reports are added. 15 new Properties are added. 62 new Collection Formulas are added. Fie new SE Collection Groups are added. The SAM serer collects data from the nodes it manages. The Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Technology Pack makes requests to receie the following files and updates: The XML files for inentory and data from the SAM serer. The JMS updates on the inentory changes. This ersion of the technology pack supports SAM serer ersion 11.0, 10.0, 9.0, and 8.0. Functional changes in this technology pack are as follows: 12 new Reports are added. 11 new Properties are added. 16 new Collection Formulas are added. Fie new CME Formulas are added. 10 new SE Collection Groups are added. 10 new NOC Reporting Groups are added. Four NOC Reporting Groups are updated. Four new Report Sets are added. Two Report Sets are updated. Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM LogToFile Technology Pack The SAM serer collects data from the nodes it manages. The DataStage serer performs the following functions: Makes requests for XML files of inentory and data from the SAM serer. Receies JMS updates on inentory changes. Generates the CSV files for UBA to process. The DataStage serer uses LogToFile request method, when requesting inentory and metrics from the SAM serer. The SAM LogToFile Technology Pack collects the CSV files of the inentory and metrics data from the DataStage serer. This ersion of the SAM LogToFile Technology Pack supports SAM serer ersion 11.0 with Tioli Netcool Manager IBM Tioli Netcool Manager: Pack Release Notes

15 Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM LogToFile Technology Pack includes LTE EPC (Eoling Packet Core) performance metrics, mainly from the interface within SGW, PGW, and MME. The performance metrics is monitored mainly from four categories: Path management messages (from interface S1, S5, S8, and S11). Bearer management messages (from interface S5, S8, and S11). Bearer failure causes (from interface S5, S8, and S11). MME application function (from MME). Functional changes in this technology pack are as follows: Three new Properties are added. Two new Elements are added. Fie new SE Collection Groups are added. Fie new NOC Reporting Groups are added. 11 new Report Sets are added. 19 Chapter 2. Installation and configuration of packs Read this information before you install and configure your packs. For information about how to access the user documentation, including core documentation, see Pack documentation on page ii. Important: Before installing and configuring technology packs, you must read the notes proided in Chapter 6, Interim fixes and fix packs, on page 79 to reiew the interim fixes and fix packs that must be installed for specific technology packs and common packs. After installing and configuring technology packs and common packs, you must read Chapter 4, Known issues and workarounds, on page 29 to determine whether there are any additional tasks that you must perform. UBA and SNMP technology packs hae different configurations. UBA and SNMP technology packs are configured differently, as described in the Configuring UBA Technology Packs and Configuring SNMP Technology Packs in Installing Tioli Netcool Manager - Wireline Component. Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager: A UBA technology pack requires an XSD file. You add a UBA Collector and associate it with a UBA pack as part of the technology pack installation. Tioli Netcool Manager (all ersions): You do not add an SNMP Collector as part of the technology pack installation. You add an SNMP Collector before installing an SNMP technology pack. Minimum required ersion of Technology Pack Installer For Tioli Netcool Manager installations that are upgraded to Tioli Netcool Manager 1.4, you must use the Technology Pack Installer ersion to install technology packs. To determine the ersion of the Technology Pack Installer, run the following command: $ jaa -jar ProisoPackInstaller.jar -ersion Note: The latest Technology Pack Installer (ProisoPackInstaller.jar file) ersion is It works on both Oracle and IBM DB2. 21 Solaris 10 Operating System Minimum software requirements IBM 32-bit JRE for Solaris, Jaa 2 Technology Edition, Version 5.0, Serice Refresh 6 In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, the correct Jaa ersion is installed with the Topology Editor in the following default location: /opt/ibm/proiso/jm/jre/bin For more information, see IBM Tioli Netcool Manager: Configuration Recommendations. The correct Jaa Runtime Enironment (JRE) for common packs is bundled with each of the Model Maker Manager and Model Maker Generator components. For Model Maker Extractor, ensure that Jaa 1.6 is installed on the PC. For more information, see IBM Tioli Netcool Manager: Pack Installation and Configuration Guide. Topology Editor JVM must be started by the correct user In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, the Topology Editor uses its own Jaa irtual machine (JVM) to run. When you install the Topology Editor, this JVM is installed under the Topology Editor installation directory. Howeer, when the Topology Editor extracts the configuration metadata files (XSD files) from a UBA technology pack JAR file, it issues an external command. This external command inherits all the properties of the shell from which the Topology Editor was started. Therefore, if the Topology Editor is started by a user who has the Jaa path included in the PATH enironment ariable, the external command works correctly. Otherwise, the command fails. Launchpad JVM ersion For 4.3-X and technology packs, the launchpad requires you to enter the path to supported Jaa runtime binaries. Only IBM JRE 5.0 SR 6 or is supported. The Tioli Netcool Manager Topology Editor proides a supported ersion of the Jaa binaries. Note: If you try to use the Technology Pack Installer to install a technology pack on any ersion of Tioli Netcool Manager that is running with Jaa 1.4, the installation fails with an error message. UBA pack XSD file inside a JAR file cannot be loaded into the Topology Editor In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, you cannot load an XSD file from the pack stand-alone JAR file into the Topology Editor. Choose the workaround that is most suitable for your site from the following two options: Manually extract the XSD file from the pack stand-alone JAR file, and then load it into the Topology Editor. Typically, the pack XSD file is located in the Chapter 2. Installation and configuration of packs 11

22 following directory in the stand-alone JAR file: APFiles\pack_name\topologyeditor The name of the XSD file is <pack_name.xsd>. For example: APFiles\cisco_wan_mgr\topologyeditor\cisco_wan_mgr.xsd Install the TIV-PROV-IF0009 Tioli Netcool Manager core interim fix. This patch enables you to load an XSD file from the pack stand-alone JAR file into the Topology Editor. For more information about interim fixes, fix packs, and the location for obtaining the fixes, see Chapter 6, Interim fixes and fix packs, on page 79. Bundled UBA technology pack XSD files In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, if you try to load a single UBA technology pack from the bundled JAR file, the Topology Editor erroneously loads all the XSD files contained in the bundled JAR file. To workaround this problem, follow these tasks: 1. After you import all the UBA technology packs from the bundled JAR file, close the Topology Editor. 2. Go to the metadata/apppacks directory under the Topology Editor installation directory. 3. Delete all the XSD files for the UBA technology packs you do not want to be aailable for deployment. The names of UBA technology pack XSD files are typically based on the name of the pack. For example, acme_packet_sbc_hdr.xsd is the name of the XSD file for the Acme Packet SBC/HDR Technology Pack. 4. Open the Topology Editor again. PROVISO_JAVA enironment ariable for all bundled technology packs If you try to install a 4.3-Y or bundled technology pack, the Technology Pack Installer looks for the PROVISO_JAVA enironment ariable. The PROVISO_JAVA enironment ariable should point to the directory that contains the approed IBM ersion of JRE 5.0. For example: PROVISO_JAVA==/opt/IBM/proiso/jm/jre/bin If the PROVISO_JAVA enironment ariable is not set, the Technology Pack Installer attempts to use the default system Jaa and might cause an issue when installing bundled packs. You receie an error message in the installer log file that appears as below: INFO [ToolKitData.getJaaPath] No JRE specified. 23 Downloading a technology pack JAR file in the background In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, if you download a pack JAR file in the background while the Topology Editor window is open, this JAR file is not displayed in the list of aailable packs. Procedure To correct this issue close and reopen the Topology Editor window to refresh the list of aailable packs. Location of bulk input files The UBA expects that the bulk input files associated with a specific deice are generated on the serer on which the deice operates. The best practice for specifying the locations of these bulk input files is as follows: Specify a directory on the serer to store the in-process bulk input files. The in-process bulk input files refer to files that are still open for writing by the deice or script generating them. Problems can occur when the UBA attempts to download in-process bulk input files. It is recommended that the deice or script create a directory. For example, /opt/uba/inprocessbulkinputfiles in which to store the in-process bulk input files. Specify a directory on the serer to store the completed bulk input files. The completed bulk input files refer to files that are closed for writing by the deice or script generating them. These bulk input files are the files that the UBA must download and process. In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, you specify the directory for the completed bulk input files by using the Topology Editor to modify the following pack-specific UBA parameters: INPUT_USE_SECURE_FTP INPUT_FTP_HOST INPUT_FTP_USERNAME INPUT_FTP_PASSWORD INPUT_DIRECTORY This is the parameter where you specify the directory (for example, /opt/uba/completedbulkinputfiles) that contains the completed bulk input files. The script that generates the bulk input files can moe the completed files automatically through a file system hard link to the directory specified in INPUT_DIRECTORY. Install the DataView Naigator Reporter Set Wizard templates Before using the DataView Reporter Set Wizard, you must install the DataView Naigator Reporter Set Wizard templates, which are proided in the Tioli Netcool Manager technology pack distribution. If these templates are not installed, the wizard screen is blank. The required templates are an option in the Pack Bundle Prerequisites item on the Feature Selection screen. The option is called DV Naigator Reporter Set Wizard Pack, which is deliered as part of the Tioli Netcool Manager technology pack bundle. 24 Remoing Control-M characters (^M) from files Fujitsu MSAN, Huawei N2000, and Nortel BCP 7200 Technology Pack support files contain Control-M characters that must be remoed manually before deploying the pack. About this task The following table lists the files that contain Control-M characters. Log in to the DataMart serer as puser. 2. Change your working directory to the APFiles directory by entering the following command, replacing (/opt/datamart, by default): $ cd DataMart_Home/APFiles 3. Make backup copies of the files by entering commands such as the following examples: $ cp EMSPathnames.cs EMSPathnames.cs.ORIG $ cp HEMSPathnames.cs HEMSPathnames.cs.ORIG 4. Open the file in i editor. 5. Remoe the Control-M characters at the end of all lines in i, by using: :%s/^^m//g The CONTROL- character is ^ and CONTROL-m character is ^m. When you type this, it is as follows: :%s/^m//g 6. Sae the file. Important: You can also use the dos2unix utility to remoe the Control-M characters, if this utility is aailable. Packs can be installed directly from a CD In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, you can install technology packs directly from the CD distribution, if you are running an instance of the Tioli Netcool Manager launchpad on the local file system. You cannot run the launchpad from the Tioli Netcool Manager DVD, and then install technology packs directly from the CD distribution. 25 Installing a technology pack by using the command line About this task If you use the command line to install technology packs, specify the jaa command with the -Xmx512M and -jar options, as follows: Procedure $ jaa -Xmx512M -jar ProisoPackInstaller.jar The -Xmx512M option is required to allocate sufficient memory for the Technology Pack Installer to successfully install multiple bundled and stand-alone technology packs. Incorrect SilerStream password specified during technology pack installation In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, if you specify an incorrect SilerStream password during a technology pack installation, the Technology Pack Installer writes an error message to the terminal emulator and not to the launchpad GUI. Incorrect port number displayed for Tioli Integrated Portal during technology pack installation The Technology Pack Installer GUI always displays as the default port number for Tioli Integrated Portal. If you want to use a different port number, you must gie the port number that you want for Tioli Integrated Portal at the time of Tioli Netcool Manager installation. Otherwise, the Technology Pack Installer displays an error message and you cannot proceed with the installation. Note: The default Tioli Integrated Portal port is changed from to You must replace the Tioli Integrated Portal port alue to to proceed with the installation. Downloading technology pack JAR files When downloading the bundled JAR file and indiidual stand-alone pack JAR files from the product distribution site by using the ftp command, make sure to specify the binary option. Installation order for SNMP collectors, HAM, and SNMP technology packs About this task If you are setting up a new Tioli Netcool Manager enironment and plan to use a High Aailability Manager (HAM) in that enironment, perform the following tasks in the specified order: Procedure 1. Install all SNMP collectors. 2. Configure and start the HAM. 3. Install all SNMP technology packs. Chapter 2. Installation and configuration of packs 15

26 4. Perform the discoery. Topology Editor does not support special characters in host names In Tioli Netcool/Proiso or Tioli Netcool Manager, the Topology Editor does not accept special characters when specifying a host name. When you specify a alue for the host name properties, specify a name with no special characters. For example, a host name such as APDEV-S-040 causes the Topology Editor to return errors, because it fails to accept the hyphen (-) in the host name. SSM Agent installer is aailable with the Technology Pack Bundle software The SSM Agents installer is now deliered with the Tioli Netcool Manager Technology Pack Bundle software in the following directory: $PVMHOME/bin. This new path must be used instead of the one described in the User Guides of the Technology Pack Bundle, which is out of date now. Installing the SSM Agent Tioli Netcool Manager proides these files to support the installation of the SSM Agent, which you need if you purchased the Tioli Netcool Manager Technology Pack Bundle. Upgrading Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Technology Pack The following notes must be read before upgrading the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Technology Pack: Workaround for Serice Tunnel naigation points labeled N/A This note describes a workaround to an issue where some Serice Tunnel naigation points are labeled N/A. This workaround is applied after upgrading the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Technology Pack from 4.3-Q or 4.3-R to a ersion of the pack. If upgrading from the 4.3-Q or 4.3-R ersion of the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM Technology Pack, some Serice Tunnel naigation points are labeled N/A. To display a subscriber ID label instead of N/A you must run inentory and grouping, delete the empty N/A groups. Then, rerun grouping to eliminate the N/A group.
