5 Oeriew Intended audience Organization Describes how to install and administer IBM Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider 1.1 that is based on Common UI Rest Interface (CURI) API on IBM Tioli Netcool Performance Manager 1.4 system. CURI API proides a RESTful, http request protocol that supports URI-based client requests, and JaaScript Object Notation-based results. The spec is based on REST interface that can supply data in a common way that can be isualized by arious different Dashboard Application Serices Hub widgets. The response to those APIs contains the data and hints to the UI on how it might be rendered. For example, an item in the dataset might represent data from a row in a database table where the columns are attributes/properties of the item. While the columns of that row might contain actual raw alues, the data returned in response to the CURI request can supply both the raw alue for the column, but also a aluetype for the alue so the widget can render the alue for the user based on data type, and a displayvalue if the raw data must be displayed in a different manner. 9 Chapter 1. Introduction to Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider Architecture information Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider 1.1 has more flexibility to expose data directly. Visualization of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager data on Dashboard Application Serices Hub is made possible with the help of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider. The data proider defines the data that can be queried. It exposes the data sets from both Wireless and Wireline datasources, which are groups of data sets. The adantage of implementing a custom data proider is to proide more control of how you retriee and process the data and how you map it into a data set. You can use CURI APIs to implement the naigational data model. For example, Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider can retriee updates to the client on things in your data set if the data can change oer time and the ability to define your own contextual actions or tasks that can be surfaced on selected items in the table iew. A data source might be a product backend, database, file, and so on. The data sources that are associated with Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider are as follows: irtuo, which holds a group of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Wireless data sets. proiso, which holds a group of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Wireline data sets. These tables do not exist in the RDBMS database. Restrictions in Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider: Supports only SQL select and join statements from a single irtual table. Each data set that is exposed is based a single irtual table. Data sets associated with irtuo data source Tables that are exposed from database by irtuo data source in Wireless component of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager. The irtuo data source exposes the following data sets from Wireless component: Table name Traffic tables Busy hour data Description Traffic data contains the actual performance and serice data for a period. Traffic fields represent the performance and serice measurements that you use to analyze parts of your network. These tables are identified by entity name and.traffic Data. For example, Huawei.ANI_IP.Adjacent_node_connection.Traffic Data. Stored data for the busiest hour of the day, week, and month based on the designated determiner. The stored busy hour (SBH) data is stored as traffic data fields in the database. The Busy hour tables are based on the busy hour definitions that are aailable in a technology pack and the tables can be differentiated by _Daily, _Weekly, and _Monthly (for daily, weekly, and monthly alues). 17 The condition query parameter is used to specify a condition-based filter when you request lists of resources, that is, proiders, data sets, items, links, relationships, and so on. Only the resources that match the filter are returned. The condition parameter syntax designates a propertyid or operator or alue triplet. These conditions can be combined by using either the AND or the OR operators to form more complex expressions. If AND, OR operators are used together; the expression must use full parenthetical format. Limitations of Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider Some of these limitations are due to Dashboard Application Serices Hub limitations. Some limitations in Tioli Netcool Performance Manager Data Proider: Does not support hierarchical URI-based client requests. Does not push the updates to the client on things in your data set if the data can change oer time. Does not define your own contextual actions or tasks that can be surfaced on selected items in the tree table or topology iews. Does not support put and post APIs. About this task You can use either a launchpad or IBM Installation Manager to install and configure Jazz for Serice Management. You can install and configure one or more integration serices on one or more serers. You can optionally install IBM DB2 and IBM WebSphere Application Serer. The installation configures Jazz for Serice Management for basic authentication and SSL communications by default. Stopping Jazz for Serice Management application serers You can stop any Jazz for Serice Management application serer by using the IBM WebSphere stopserer command. Configuring a JDBC proider for Wireless database The JDBC proider object supplies the specific JDBC drier implementation class for access to a specific endor database. To create a pool of connections to that database, you associate a data source with the JDBC proider. Together, the JDBC proider and the data source objects are functionally equialent to the Jaa Platform, Enterprise Edition (Jaa EE) Connector Architecture (JCA) connection factory, which proides connectiity with a non-relational database. Procedure 1. Click Settings > WebSphere Administratie Console, and then click Launch WebSphere administratie console. WebSphere Integrated Solutions Console opens. 2. Select Resource > JDBC > JDBC proiders. 3. Select JazzSMNode01Cell from the Scope list. 4. 31 Configuring the application module class path order You can configure the application class loaders for an application serer. Class loaders enable applications that are deployed on the application serer to access repositories of aailable classes and resources. Procedure 1. Log in to administratie console. 2. Click Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications > isc. 3. Click Manage Modules under Modules pane of the Enterprise Applications window. 4. Click TNPM Data Proider module from the table. Use this page to configure an instance of a deployed web module in the application. 5. Select Classes loaded with local class loader first (parent last) from the Class loader order list. This option specifies the class-loader mode for the class loader. This alue causes the class loader to attempt to load classes from its local class path before you delegate the class loading to its parent. 6. Click Apply. 7. Sae the changes to the administratie configuration. Related information: Class loading Restarting the Integrated Solution Console You can start an application that is not running that has a status of Stopped or stop an application that is running that has a status of Started. By default, the application starts automatically when the serer starts. Procedure 1. Go to the Enterprise applications page. Steps to help you log in to the Dashboard Application Serices Hub. About this task With the console, you can perform simple lightweight tasks and more adanced scalable reporting that is proided by IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Reporting. Create on-demand reports. Use the web-based report authoring. reports Access the console: Procedure Access the reporting interface from Dashboard Application Serices Hub as follows: 1. Open a web browser and enter the following URL for the Jazz for Serice Management UI and reporting serer: For example: Where: host.domain is the fully qualified host name or IP address of the Jazz for Serice Management UI and reporting serer. When single sign-on (SSO) is enabled, ensure that you use the fully qualified host name in the URL of the Jazz for Serice Management reporting and UI serer. SSO requires that the browser pass LTPA cookies to the Jazz for Serice Management application serer, and these cookies contain the fully qualified host name. port is the secure HTTP port number that was specified during installation. On the Dashboard Application Serices Hub login page, enter the user ID and password. Ensure that user ID has access to Tioli Common Reporting. Click Log in. Log in to Dashboard Application Serices Hub. 2. Create a page by using one of the following steps: a. In the taskbar, click. b. In the naigation bar, click > Pages and click New Page. 3. In the Page name field, proide a descriptie name for the dashboard and in the Page location field, indicate where you want the dashboard to be displayed in the naigation pane. Consider the content on the dashboard and how users find that content by looking for the dashboard name in the naigation pane. 4. Select the Proportional option for the dashboard layout. 5. Optional: Click the Optional Setting label and associate one or more roles with the new dashboard and set the leel of access for each role. 6. 37 7. Click OK. Results The taskbar tab is updated with the name of the new dashboard. A window is displayed that includes a widget palette from which you can select widgets for your new dashboard. Creating a widget on a page in Dashboard Application Serices Hub To see the data from Tioli Netcool Performance Manager database, create a widget in the Dashboard Application Serices Hub portal. When you assign a data set to a widget, only those tasks that are associated with the specific output parameter are run. Procedure 1. Open the page that you want to use to create this widget. 2. Click Dashboard Widgets folder to see the widgets. The widget palette can contain widgets or widget catalogs. Widget catalogs are used to organize widgets into logical groups in enironments where many widgets are aailable to be added to a dashboard. You can use the search field to filter the number of items that are displayed, or you can use the naigation arrows to scroll through the items. To remoe a search filter, clear the search field and click Search. You can hoer oer a widget in the palette to iew more information about it. 3. Or, click All to see the aailable widgets. 4. To add content to your dashboard, drag items from the content palette to the content area below the palette, by using the grid lines to assist you in positioning each widget. For example, you can drag the Table widget. 5. To resize a widget, click anywhere near one of its borders to display resizing handles. Use the handles to resize the widget. In this mode, you can also click near the center of the widget and drag it to any position on the dashboard. 6. As you add items, you can configure display settings through the > Edit.. 7. In the Select a Dataset page, use the search filter to select the data set of your choice. You can identify the data sets from Wireline and Wireless components. All the data sets for Wireline component are under the section Proider: TNPM>Datasource: proiso and data sets for Wireless are under the section Proider: TNPM>Datasource: irtuo. 8. In the Visualization Settings page, click Optional Settings, enter the title for the widget. Select the metrics or KPIs for the selected data set that you want to see and then click OK. 9. Click Sae to commit your changes. Note: Users with Editor access to the dashboard can later edit the dashboard to add more content, rearrange existing content, replace, and remoe content. 10. Each row in the table represents an item, and each column shows a selected attribute of that item; for example, a table might show a list of serers, with key attributes for each serer (such as CPU usage and disk space). A Table widget shows selected attributes from a data set; you can filter, sort, and search this data by using the controls on the widget. Procedure 1. Create a page. 2. Create a Table widget on the page. 3. Click Edit options > Edit. 4. Select a table from the list of aailable tables that are associated with a data source of your choice. 5. Select the columns from the Aailable Columns pane and add them to the Selected Columns pane. 6. Click OK. You can see the table with the selected columns in the page. 7. Click the down arrow to expand the filtering. 8. Click Adanced Filter icon ( ) to see the Filter dialog. 9. Select a column to filter and the condition. Note: You can use standard multiple selection techniques by using the Ctrl and Shift keys with mouse clicks. 39 Editing a column chart widget You can edit a column chart to customize how the data is displayed. A column chart widget displays data as a series of ertical columns. Each column represents an item, or resource, from the data set (for example, attributes for a number of serers). The height of the column reflects the magnitude of the alue it represents. Procedure 1. Create a column chart in the page. 2. Click Edit options > Edit. 3. Select a table to create the chart. Important: To isualize context-based filtered data from a table, select the same data set that you hae used to create the table in the preious topic. 4. In the Name field, proide a name for the column chart. The name that you proide is displayed as the title of the column chart on the dashboard. 5. In the Category Label field, proide a name for the category of alues that are to be displayed in the column chart. For column charts, the category label is displayed, and refers to content, on the X-axis. 6. In the Values Label field, proide a name for the alues (or units) that are to be represented by the chart s columns. For column charts, the alues label is displayed on the Y-axis. 7. From the X-Axis list, select that alue type that you want represented on the X-axis. Note: If the chart featured horizontal bars (a bar chart), this field would be labeled Y-Axis. 8. From the Y-Axis list, select that alue type that you want represented on the Y-axis. 9. From the Tooltip field, select a alue type that you want shown when a user hoers oer the column that is represented by the alue type that is selected from the Y-Axis list. 10. Optional: Expand the Settings section to display extra labeling and layout options. 11. Optional: In the Legend field, specify where you want to put a legend for the chart. You can choose to show no legend, or display it at the bottom, or to the side, of the chart. A legend lists the alues types that are displayed in the chart and proides a key to the color coding. 12. Optional: Use the Items Per Page list to select an appropriate number of items to be displayed on the chart at one time. 13. Optional: Use the Grid list to specify if you want to hae a background grid pattern that is displayed behind the columns in the chart. 14. Click OK to sae your changes.
