2 Hardware requirements We strongly advise you to purchase a new server with the latest version and using up-to-date processor technology. When Ridder iq is installed on an existing server, please contact us, so we can assess whether your server is capable. The minimum processor requirement is an Intel Xeon processor with a quad-core technology. We recommend that Ridder iq is always installed on a (virtual) dedicated server RAID The use of RAID is highly recommended because of a strong performance improvement and availability of data. Various RAID capabilities are shown the table below, together with their description. In this way loss of data can be prevented, in case of a failing hard disk. The NAS keeps a copy of the files to another hard disk in the RAID 1 array. If a hard drive fails the NAS will remain useful and you have no data loss. Once you replace the failed hard disk mirroring creates a new copy. Because each disk has a copy in the RAID array, use only half of the available disk to store files. RAID- 0+1 Striping + Mirroring 4 x 146 GB Effective 292 GB. This is a combination of RAID 1 and RAID 0 and uses striping and mirroring. 3 There are various RAID controllers available. The simple RAID controllers usually contain only a read cache. These type of controllers have a negative effect on the performance database. Therefore, a controller is recommended with battery backup or non-volatile memory containing both read and write cache. Ridder Data Systems BV recommends using RAID 1 or RAID The use of RAID-5 on the database server is strongly discouraged. This is due to very strong performance loss on the database. An average plant Ridder iq will take about 20 GB of disk space. We advise to equip the (dedicated) server, used for Ridder iq, with at least 16GB of memory. The following server operating systems are currently supported by Ridder iq (only 64 bit): Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2012 R2 Windows Server 2016 The network must support and at least 100 Mbps. It is recommended that a minimum speed of 1 Gbps. We encourage you to always use a workstation with most up-to-date processor technology. The minimum amount of memory each is as follows: Operating System Windows 7 Windows 8 Windows 10 Memory 4 GB 4GB 6GB For Ridder iq on a workstation we advise a minimum of 4GB of RAM, if you are using iq Project Planning module, we recommend at least 8 GB for performance reasons. 4 If you customized configuration is slightly different to the specifications listed above, please contact Ridder Data Systems BV We advise you to use MS SQL 2016 standard. If required, we can supply this version as a runtime version with Ridder iq also. Please take into account at least Windows 2012R2 is required on your server. Ridder iq works needs at least MS SQL 2008R2 or higher.
