Overall aims of the course Upon completing this course the student will have learned, through appropriate classroom and laboratory experiences, the following. Understanding of different types of data models and interfaces. Concepts and fundamentals of traditional database management systems. Different types of database management systems (MSACCESS ORACLE- SQLServer...etc.). Different strategies, data-structures, and algorithms used in the implementation of a database management system. 2. Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) of the course a. Knowledge and Understanding On successful completion of the program, graduates should be able to: a1. Explain relational, semantic, and object-oriented data models. a2. Discuss the concepts of query optimization, concurrency control, recovery management and distributed processing.
