3 Installation of Pro Software Pro Software (This isn t necessary for Pro kits because the software is already installed. See update section if performing software update.) Note: All of this is to be done on the device you wish to install the software 1. Go to with your internet browser. 2. Click on the latest version. (highest version number). 3. The browser may ask for permission to download. 4. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull down the notifications bar. 5. Select the download. By pressing the download the Android Software installer will begin. 6. You may need to go to Settings à Security à Check Allow Installation of Unknown/Outside Sources. This is required to install any software outside of the Google Play Store. 7. If you return to the home screen and the Android Software installer is no longer there you can access the file you just downloaded by going to the Apps bin and selecting the Downloads app. Click on the download file (named by version number) and the installer will start back up. 8. Repeat the above installation steps for the Farm Sprayer GPS Sprayer Manager found on the same download link. This program is necessary for connection of an external antenna. 9. Next, in order to use external antenna the tablet will need to know what location source to use. Go to Settings à About Tablet à Tap Build Number 5 times. This will place the tablet in developer mode. Next go to Settings à Developer Options à And Enable Allow Mock Locations 3

4 Updating Software This section applies to Upgrade to Pro Kits (Build Your Own Kit) & the Pro model systems. 1. Go to 2. Select the highest version number. 3. The browser may ask for permission to download. 4. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull down the notifications bar. 5. Select the download. By pressing the download the Android Software installer will begin. 6. You may need to go to Settings à Security à Check Allow Installation of Unknown/Outside Sources. 5 Setting up the GPS cables & connectors To use an external antenna you will need: 1. An external antenna NMEA compatible (with USB.) 2. USB extension cable. 3. A microusb to USB connector (with optional additional charging port). Note: The Pro model and upgrade kits come with the above cables. Setup 1. Connect GPS antenna to USB extension cable 2. Connect USB extension cable to microusb to USB connector. (May have extra lead that can be used to connect a regular Android style charger to.) 3. microusb connector plugs into the microusb port found on your device. 4. Make sure all connections are snug. 5. If properly connected the antenna will flash red or be solid red while the tablet/phone is powered on. 5

6 Connecting to WIFI to Save Maps Your device will either need to have a data connection in the field or you will need to save the maps to your device prior to leaving your WIFI connection. Connecting to WIFI: 1. Press the Home Button at the bottom of the Android Screen to pull up all the apps. 2. Find and Press the Settings Button (Looks like a gear.) 3. Scroll to WIFI and click WIFI 4. Select Your Local Connection Point 5. Type in WIFI password (Same one you use to connect laptops, etc) Saving the Maps: 1. Go to the Android Home Screen. 2. Press Farm Sprayer GPS. (The icon with the sprayer) 3. Press GPS tracking with Circles. 4. Open Old Circle Mode. (Any mode can be used to save the maps) 5. Type in any boom width at this point. 6. Press Start and then the COMPASS button in top right. 7. Maps are automatically saved if you can see them on the screen. 8. Scroll the map to where your fields are. Zooming can be done by pinching your fingers or spreading them apart. You will need to zoom to the levels that you want saved into the memory. 9. Again as long as you see the field it automatically saves to your memory. 6

7 Operating the Software 1. Begin by find the Farm Sprayer GPS app. It is a picture of a sprayer. 2. Opening the app will display a menu that looks like this (or similar if different version number): 3. If you are using an external antenna go ahead and connect it. 4. Press ENABLE EXTERNAL RECEIVER, PRO Model Only 7

8 5. A Menu will display called Sprayer Manager. If nothing happens you didn t install the Sprayer Manager. (Please see installation instructions section.) It looks like this: A device will appear if an antenna is connected. Check this box to turn on antenna. When you have checked the Start/Stop box you may press the back arrow to return to Farm Sprayer GPS 8

9 GPS Tracking with Circles You will have the choice to use either the Old Circle Mode or New Circle Mode. The New Mode will add the activity to the logs. Also, note the instructions (depending on version on what the definition of input width is.) 9

10 Old Circle Mode Simply enter your boom width and press start. (This mode takes the entire width of the implement and you need to divide by two.) Settings Dots 10

11 Pressing the Settings Dots (may be a physical button on some devices). The settings allow you to : Switch between Standard & Metric Units. Force the screen to stay in the center (Center Hold On/Off) Clear the map. Export the current map image. (You will need to download a file manager. You can find free versions in the Google Play Store. Then go to the downloads folder and you can find the images there. Use the download manager to export the image to , text, etc. The images WILL not appear in the downloads app found in your app bin. 11

12 New Circle Mode The New Circle mode will log your field progress. Start by clicking Start Here. Simply type in a name for the field/job, enter the entire width of the boom (all the way across), select standard or metric, and then type in comments such as what you were spraying etc. Then Press next. You will then return to the map. When you are ready to begin press the Start button. 12

13 Line Tracking Mode Line tracking mode is similar to Circle mode. Differences include: Tracking by polygons instead of circles. Lightbar with line guidance feature. First start by selecting Start Here after selecting Advanced Line Tracking from the homescreen. Press Next after filling out the blanks above. If you don t Toggle Line Mode On the map will only highlight where you ve been and won t display the tracking lines or lightbar arrows. 13

14 Move the markers. You will need to set the A- B lines by moving the markers. The markers can be tricky to move if you have large fingers or long finger nails. Simply press the dot in the top of the marker, hold your finger down, the marker will wiggle a little bit, continue pressing and drag the marker with your finger to your desired location. If you can t quite figure out how to move the markers, please see the section on Common Map Touch Gestures. It is recommended that you either set the A- B line in the center of the field or at the edge depending on your preference. After pressing start, parallel lines will appear. As you move a magenta line will appear to help you stay on the lines. The arrows above will turn green. The more arrows you see in a direction the farther you are away from the line. 14

15 Acre Calculator Tool Simply move the map to your field. Press the Drop Markers button. Move the markers into the shape of your field. To move the markers: Simply press the dot in the top of the marker, hold your finger down, the marker will wiggle a little bit, continue pressing and drag the marker with your finger to your desired location. If you can t quite figure out how to move the markers, please see the section on Common Map Touch Gestures. 15

19 Charging When using a splitter microusb to USB adapter to charge, the tablet may not appear to charge especially if the screen is larger than 5. The device battery run time will be extended by hours, but will eventually go dead with a charger plugged in while using the external antenna. This is because the system can only apply 0.5A while using a USB device. It is recommended that if you are not using a wireless charging pad to remove the tablet daily from the tractor and charge overnight. The new Pro model includes a wireless charging pad in the back of the tablet mount to overcome this. If you are adapting your current device as a Pro unit, your device may not support wireless charging. For the included wireless charging pad (most newer Pro models include this) make sure the charging disk is fairly center with the back of the tablet. Do not remove the Velcro from the mount as it is placed where charging is best. There is a blue light on the disk that will flash when properly charging. 19
