3 WHAT IS THE INTERNET? ARPANET adopted TCP/IP on January 1, 1983, and from there researchers began to assemble the network of networks that became the modern Internet. (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, is a suite of communication protocols used to interconnect network devices on the internet) The online world then took on a more recognizable form in 1990, when computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.

4 WHAT IS A WEB BROWSER? A Web Browser is a Computer Program that connects you to the Internet. (A Collection of Computers all over the world.) Without a Browser, you could only use a word processor, work on spreadsheets or play games on your computer. There would be no , texts or information coming to you from outside your computer. Your browser is your link to other computers and to the world. (The first browser was Netscape in 1993!)
