XMD-S TM 11.5 X64 RELEASE NOTES XMD-S 11.5.0 (4/26/2013) With this release, XMD-S is nw available n KeyCreatr 11.5. This release adds sme useful new features, and addresses user feedback, particularly cncerning the all-new BOM.

1 XMD-S TM 11.5 X64 RELEASE NOTES XMD-S (4/26/2013) With this release, XMD-S is nw available n KeyCreatr This release adds sme useful new features, and addresses user feedback, particularly cncerning the all-new BOM. AUTOMATIC HOLE FACE COLORING Hle face clrs in XMD-S are nw extremely custmizable. Nt nly will hles be autmatically subtracted frm the slid when yu exprt the blck (r switch t a finished blck), but they can be clred t, easily saving hurs f manual labur. Hles can be clred based n: The type f hle (slip fit, clearance, tap drill, etc.) The type f cmpnent (water, ejectin, etc.) The units (metric r inch) The thread type (UNC, UNF, etc.) Whether it s a critical face r nt (see picture n left). If this is smething yur shp is interested in getting set up, please let us knw.

2 SMART PATTERNS The Smart Pattern dialg has a welcme new additin that is likely t save yu a tn f time. The Smart Pattern dialg nw has a search feature, allwing users t quickly scan thrugh their entire catalg fr matching smart patterns. Als: We ve als made it easier t switch between Jb, Catalg, and Custm Smart Pattern directries. Fixed a bug where the Smart Pattern cache was repeatedly updated. BILL OF MATERIALS The Drawn BOM and Ballns: The drawn BOM will shift and cmpress the rws as needed t keep yur design table lking great. Up until this release, XMD did nt d a very gd jb f updating this table (gaps were left, renumbering left things ut f rder, etc.). Similarly, ballns are nw updated prperly as well. Redrawing r deleting the drawn BOM n lnger means all yur ballns will be erased. The BOM Management dialg: The dialg is nw fully-integrated with XMD und and red system. Make a change in the BOM dialg and click OK, then click XMD Und, and yu re back t where yu started.

3 Fixed bugs where BOM rws culd g red (user-edited) as a result f a standard XMD change. Unassciative rws (as can be created by ballning user gemetry) have had a number f issues addressed: Users whse BOM templates included cmbined fields (size/catalg #, vendr/mat l) nw have better means f editing these fields. A bug that caused users t lse sme infrmatin fr these rws when saving/lading a jb has been fixed. In ur cnstant effrts t imprve the quality f the sftware, we ve added errr detectin and reslutin fr the BOM. Fr cmpnent numbering in the BOM, the # character is nw recgnized as the start f the number. PARTING LINE EDITOR We re nw adding a yellw, hrizntal line at Z = 0. This will serve as a visual clue as t what the right-side dimensins are measuring t. XMD n lnger mves the part when starting a jb when using XMD generated lcks unless asked t by user. Set Hi/L changes are nw prperly affecting stck sizes. Fix s that XMD shuld always read the mld length and width frm user defined cavity/cre blcks. MISC. The XMD User Guide has been vastly imprved and is nw installed with XMD. It is accessible frm the start menu, r the XMD Help buttn in KeyCreatr. Fixed a bug with the "Use selected clr" ptin f the Water Defaults dialg. Existing jbs may need this ptin reset in this versin. Fix bug where vertical/hrizntal waterlines weren't trimming themselves t the plate bundaries. Parallel waterlines nw respecting cnstructin planes derived frm picking faces. Fix bug that resulted in missing size infrmatin fr cmpnents that aren't in the BOM (ie lift hles). In the Mdify/Cnvert Plate dialg, the tab key nw prperly cycles t the vendr and catalg # fields. Placing XMD pckets/plates n cmpund angles is wrking better. Better at determining when cavity/cre slids are surfaced, and can prperly read in back f blck changes. Fix bug where XMD culd crash when rendering pr quality slids. Fixed bug where XMD was asking user t rebt unnecessarily n uninstall. Fix hle depth chart bug in plate details. Dn t let user und the switch t master/finished/reference peratins. Detect and ntify user if Micrsft.Net 4.0 needs t be installed.

4 XMD-S (SECOND RELEASE - 2/21/2013) BOM fixes and imprvements: The BOM will nly shw cmpnent numbers if they are needed t differentiate between ther rws. Capitalize DIA., LEN., etc. in the BOM (fr new jbs/cmpnents nly). The BOM will nw nly lk t 3 decimal places when deciding t grup plates int the same rw r nt. Fixed an issue with using the cpy shrtcut (Ctrl+C) in the BOM dialg. Fixed a bug where Set Hi/L in the Parting Line Editr, and pipe plug t pipe tap changes were nt picked up by the BOM. In the Frmat Smart Pattern cmmand, when the Save t Jb ptin is used the BOM and 2d/3d renderings are updated autmatically. Redraw Cmpnent n a Smart Pattern will nw check t see if BOM infrmatin needs t be updated. Fix BOM bugs related t Mldbase Editr changes and a Delete/Und peratin. Mldbase and Parting-Line Editr fixes: Misc. fixes: Fix crash that happened when user chse t ignre/delete cnflicting cmpnents during mldbase changes. Fix bug where users culdn't get rid f XMD generated PL lcks if mld was surfaced. Cpied Guided Ejectin bushings n lnger wind up in clamp plate when the mldbase is mdified. Fixed bug that resulted in imprperly remving clamp slts frm the slid. Fix bug s users can edit the PL lck angular dimensin. Value in Custm Size panel f Resize dialg is n lnger cut ff. There is n lnger a 30 character restrictin n plate names. Abut dialg updates. Fix bug where Cnvert Slid t XMD Cmpnent was nt reading the Part Number field. Stp suggesting incrrect drawing depths fr newly added drawings. Fix sme access vilatins that culd ccur in certain situatins. Hle calculatin step is faster, particularly n jbs with a large number f waterlines. Fix bug where certain cmpnents were nt being created n the prper level and/r had a missing level name.

T d s, we ve created a pwerful new dialg that is accessible frm XMD s Tls menu: Frm here yu can d a variety f things: Assign Detail Numbers: This is dne by clicking a cell in the detail number field. Yu can single select r multi-select by clicking and dragging. Yu can als Unassign Detail Numbers frm here. Nte that the unnumbered rws are kept in a specific rder: 1) Cavity and cre first 2) The rest f the mldbase plates in stack rder 3) Manufactured cmpnents 4) Purchased cmpnents by vendr and size Edit Cells: While sme cells are read-nly (such as Sheet, Quantity, and Size), mst f the cells in the table allw yu t make custm edits t what XMD generated by default. This gives the designer pwerful new capabilities in making changes t the design. It helps t see sme examples. Let s suppse we created 12 inserts and frgt t change the default material frm 1020 t P-20. In previus versin s yu d have t d Mdify->Size n each ne, but nw yu can just make the change in the BOM and vila! Yu re dne!

T exprt steel nly, yu can detail nly thse rws and select Numbered Items, r yu can check their checkbxes and select Checked Items. Imprt frm Excel: This exciting new feature shuld help yu keep the design in-sync with changes made dwn-stream. Fr example, purchasing may have changed a vendr r tw, and added sme ntes. T imprt such changes, hit the Imprt buttn and select the edited Excel file. A dialg will then pen displaying imprted spreadsheet and any and all changes are highlighted: Upn reviewing the changes, and reslving any cnflicts, yu can either Accept r Reject the imprt.

7 STOCK SIZES XMD nw supprts user-defined stck sizes n all plates and custm cmpnents. Currently, the stck size is nly used fr the BOM, but in the future we hpe t make use f it fr the Exprt Plate cmmand as well as eyeblt charts. T have the BOM reflect the stck sizes r nt is cnfigurable in the XMD Cnfig prgram (see picture n the right). T edit stck sizes, run the Resize Cmpnent cmmand and pick a plate r custm cmpnent. Click the Edit buttn n the stck panel (pictured belw) and yu will be presented with the slid verlaid with a semi-transparent stck slid with dimensins: Adjust the stck sizes using KeyCreatr s Dimensin Driven Editing (DDE) cmmand, which XMD will start fr yu autmatically. Yu simply click the dimensins and type in the desired value. Nte that DDE is sensitive t which side f the dimensin yu click n. If yu click n the middle, bth ends are adjusted. But if yu click n ne end r the ther, then nly that end is adjusted, making it easy t add the stck all n ne side. Once finished adjusting the stck blck, hit the OK buttn t return t the Mdify Size dialg where yu shuld see yur new stck size reflected

PARTING LINE EDITOR In additin t fixing a number f bugs, we ve als made sme imprvements that shuld make things much easier.

8 PARTING LINE EDITOR In additin t fixing a number f bugs, we ve als made sme imprvements that shuld make things much easier. Right-side Dimensin Nw Measures frm Z=0: This change nw makes it much easier t cntrl yur back f blck lcatins as the measured size is equivalent t where the back f blck is in the Z. If yu want yur back f blck t be at Z=150mm, just click the dimensin and put that in. Frmerly the dimensin was measuring frm the tp f the parting line lcks t back f blcks, which was nt nearly as useful. Greater Precisin: The Parting Line Editr n lnger runds the values yu type in t 2 r 3 decimal places, which was ften a surce f huge headaches. The slids will nw be adjusted t exactly what yu type in. the left. We ve runded precise values t ne decimal place mre than what we wuld rund nminal values. This way, yu can still ntice when a dimensin is nt a nminal value, but the editr is nt cluttered with extremely lng numbers. When a precise value is clicked, the full value is displayed in the Edit Dim dialg, as seen in the picture t Imprtant Bug Fixes Related t Backs f Blcks: Changes will n lnger result in the backs f blcks verlapping ther stack plates. Fixed bug where pipe plugs, taps, and baffle blades were nt adjusted t match the backs f blcks. SAVE AS In rder t simplify things, and get mre users aware f the ld Prepare Jb functinality, we ve merged the tw cmmands. Save As is ften used t put ut a new revisin and it s at that time yu ften want t clean up the jb directry. This can nw be perfrmed frm within ne cmmand. Als, t allw yu t re-render all the plate and custm cmpnent drawings, we ve made it s that yu can select All Drawings frm the Redraw Cmpnent cmmand. CUSTOM COMPONENT LIBRARIES We ve added sme supprt t make it easier t create custm cmpnent libraries. The easiest way t d it is t take an existing slid that XMD has written KeyCreatr slid prperties t and save it ff smewhere. XMD will nw read these prperties every time the Cnvert Slid t XMD Cmpnent cmmand is run n it s yu wn t have t type the infrmatin in ever again!

9 OTHER IMPROVEMENTS Parting-Line and Mldbase Editr imprvements: XMD will n lnger rund numbers entered int the Edit Dim dialg. The drawn dimensins will shw t an extra decimal place if value is nt rund at the default precisin. The right-mst dimensins in the editr are nw measuring frm Z=0 t back f blck. Fixed bug where pipe plugs, taps, and baffle blades were nt adjusted prperly. Many ther bug fixes. Return user t previus drawing upn leaving the PL editr. Perfrmance f varius animated cmpnent placement functins has been greatly imprved The Mve Cmpnents t Plate Level cmmand nw lets yu select cavity and cre halves in additin t a specific plate. Allw users t cpy cnverted cmpnents (mirrr cpy still disabled). Updated catalg numbers fr DME pins. Prjected cmpnents will nw be autmatically re-prjected thrugh the Replace Plate (if the Generate New ptin is used) and Tip Cmpnent cmmands. BUG FIXES Many BOM/ballning bugs fixed. We're nw respecting the plate name typed in the cpied plate name dialg. Fix prblem with certain SHCS fr DME bases shwing up as nn-standard sizes Fix prblem f EP reams ccasinally nt appearing. Fix bug with deleting XMD pckets. Fix bug with Shw Metric checkbx in Resize Plate dialg when adding a custm cmpnent. Fix crash when wrking with tapered pckets. Speed ptimizatin fr cutting surfaces n start jb (and n mre flashing) Fixed bug where we culd create bushings that were bigger than the pin they were fr.
