2 GETTING STARTED The Kindred Directory allows you to search for employees and locations across all of our lines of business. The Kindred Directory can be accessed in a variety of ways. From a Kindred computer, launch Knect and then click Kindred Directory from the top navigation menu. From a Kindred mobile device or personal mobile device enrolled in our BYOD program, tap the Kindred Directory icon. From a personal computer or other mobile device, launch your browser and visit directory.kindred.com. The Global Search Box *UPDATED* The Kindred Directory features a global search box. This search box is designed to let you search a single last or first name, full name, known as name, facility name, facility ID, or keywords found in an employee s About Me or Skillsets sections. TIP: To search by full name, use a space between first and last name or use the format of last name, first name. 2

3 SEARCH RESULTS & CONTACT DETAILS Contact Cards Search results are shown, by default, in a Contact Card view. This provides quick access to someone s primary telephone number and address. This symbol indicates an employee s preferred contact method. Contact Details The Contact Details page is accessed by clicking or tapping the employee s name or photo from the Contact Card view. The Details page provides full contact information, organizational structure, direct reports, and location. An About Me section also presents an employee s bio, skillsets, and job responsibilities (if provided). 3

4 EDIT YOUR DIRECTORY PROFILE *UPDATED* From the Contact Details page, click the Edit button under your name. You may be prompted to login (see page 7). An employee, their immediate supervisor, or any Administrative Assistant may edit that contact s profile. Click the Save Changes button once you ve made any edits. Edit Photo Upload Browse your computer for a photo to upload. If using a mobile device, see page 7. TIP: Crop your picture to a square before uploading to your profile. TIP: Don t want a personal contact option to show? Just leave the field blank and save your profile. Administrative Assistant (AA) To choose your AA, start typing his/her last name. A dropdown menu will appear with search results. Continue typing in last name, first name format until your AA appears and then click/tap the name. 4

5 EDIT YOUR DIRECTORY PROFILE Known As: Your directory profile information is loaded directly from your employee details in our HR systems. If you go by another name, you may fill out the Known As field. This will appear in search results and on your Contact Details page. Alternative Work Your directory profile will automatically show the address that is specified in our HR and systems. If you use another work , you may specify it in the Alternative Work field. Personal You should specify a personal address if you intend to use the Kindred Directory from a mobile or personal device. Your Personal will be used to validate your identity. If you want your personal address to appear on your Contact Details page, click/tap the Show Personal checkbox. Show Home Phone: Your home phone information is available from our HR systems. If you would like to share this on your Contact Detail page, click/tap the Show Home Phone checkbox. Alternate Location/Shipping Information: Some employees may work from a location other than their designated location in our HR systems. For example, some Corporate employees may work at other facilities, or some employees may work from a home office. To specify an alternate Kindred Location, search for the location by typing the facility name and then click/tap the desired location. For non-kindred locations, you may manually type in the address information. 5

6 LOCATION SEARCH *UPDATED* To view locations based upon your keyword search, click the Locations tab. Note: If only locations are found based upon your global keyword search, the Locations tab will be selected automatically. Facility Type Indicators Facility Contacts Facility Contacts To view a list of contacts associated with a location, click/tap the Facility Contacts button from the Location Details page. 6

7 REFINING YOUR SEARCH Advanced Search *UPDATED* To narrow your search results, use the Advanced Search. This option allows you to search additional fields not captured in the Global search box. Advanced searches are available for People and Locations. Each search works independently. List View To view more search results on a page, change your view to the List View. You can quickly toggle between views from any search results page. Contact Card List 7

8 SECURE LOGIN *NEW* If you are accessing the Kindred Directory off-network or from a personal computer or mobile device, you will be required to perform a secure login validation procedure. This would include access from a Kindred ipad on a cellular connection or a mobile phone enrolled in our BYOD program. directory.kindred.com 1 Choose your network and then enter your username and password. 2 Select an address in your profile that will be used to confirm your identity and click/tap the Send Passcode button. If no address is provided, update your Kindred Directory profile when you re connected to the Kindred network or have your manager/supervisor/assistant add an address to your profile. 3 Check your for the validation message. You may need to check your junk mail folder. Either click/tap the Confirm Your Identity link or copy the passcode provided in the message. The provided code is good for 5 minutes. 4 If you chose to copy the passcode, return to the validation screen and paste the code into the Passcode field. You may also enter the code by typing it directly into the field. Click/tap the Submit button. To avoid having to validate your identity each time you visit the directory site, you may choose to remember your device. This eliminates validation for a two week period. 8

9 MOBILE DEVICE USAGE Kindred mobile devices can easily access the Kindred Directory from the dedicated app icon. Personal mobile devices can also browse to Install From the Kindred App Store If no app icon is available on your Kindred-owned mobile device, visit the Kindred App Store to install it. BYOD users can also download the app icon from the Kindred App Store at any time. Mobile Device Contact Links Tapping contact links for phone numbers and addresses will automatically launch your phone or apps. PHOTO TIP: Always be sure to choose or take a photo in landscape mode with your phone. Also, consider using your photos app to crop your photo to a square. 9

10 Version 2.0, July 2017 ENHANCEMENTS, FIXES, & KNOWN ISSUES Multi-Factor Login Validation When accessing the Kindred Directory off the Kindred network, you will be required to use a new login validation process. This is very similar to the process you may use to access your bank account online. More information can be found on page 8 of the latest Kindred Directory user guide. Known As Name The Known As profile field, if filled out, now replaces the first name on the search results page and contact details screen. * KNOWN ISSUE * If your HR record is updated in any way, the Known As field will be overwritten and you will need to update your Kindred Directory profile again. User Profile Picture Updates User profile pictures will be automatically resized to fit into a circle throughout the directory. If you no longer want a picture in your profile, click/tap the Remove Image checkbox before you save your profile. Other User Profile Changes Personal address can now be hidden. You should complete the personal address field if you need to access the Kindred Directory remotely and do not have access to your Kindred remotely. Alternative address field has been added if you want to supply an additional work address. Preferred contact methods have been updated to include personal address. Location field updated to allow free text to describe where you are physically located in your space. Alternate Location/Shipping Address fields added to allow employees to specify a work location other than their default facility location. Users can search for another facility and choose its address or manually enter an address. Administrative Assistant Access Administrative Assistants may now edit any employee s directory profile. Advanced Search Updates Search for people by line of business Search for people by extension Search exact matches for entered criteria Search locations by facility type (drop down) Search locations by state (drop down) Search locations by facility status (open/closed/both) Search locations by zip code Facility Names Facility names are no longer truncated. Facility Type Indicators Facility type indicators now correctly appear and have been expanded to include 13 facility types (see page 6 of the latest user guide). Contractors Contractors now appear in the organizational hierarchy with full-time employees. Global Search The global search box now searches employees Skills Sets and About Me sections. Login Prompt Changes If connecting via VPN, you will no longer be prompted for login. If you connect via the Kindred-Public Wi-Fi network, you will be prompted for login validation. Performance & Visual Improvements Various performance and visual improvements have been made to make the Kindred Directory more responsive and easier to read and access certain functions.
