Pictures Uploading Pictures To add a picture to your content, place your cursor where you would like to insert a picture and Click on the picture icon in the editor. You will see this box: In order to have the picture appear on your web pages it must be transferred from your computer to the web server. Click on the Browse Server button in the top right of the box to find your folder. A folder was created with your full name when your site was created. Look for your folder in the list and click on it. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 12
To upload your file(s) click on the Browse button at the bottom of the screen. Find your files on your computer and then press Upload. Important: Your folder on the web server is not private because it is accessible to any of the ICIs using this site program. Do not store private information in these folders on the web server. Once your pictures are in your folder on the server you can begin to use them on your web pages. IMPORTANT: Your file size cannot exceed 2MBs in size or it will not upload. Use an image processing software (like Photoshop) to reduce the size of your pictures before you try to upload it. In your folder, browse to the picture you want to insert on that page. Once you have found it and have chosen the formatting options that you want, click OK on the bottom of the picture editor. Note: If you don t see your folder in the list you can us at sitesupport@anglesolutions.com and we will add it for you. You can also create your own folder after you click on the Browse button. On the left hand side of the browse screen click on the Create New Folder button. Enter your name in the folder name area and click OK. Your folder should appear in the list of folders. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 13
Picture Sizes Digital pictures are often very large when viewed on your computer. To reduce the size of your pictures you must tell the picture editor how wide or how high the picture should be. After you select a picture from the folder that you created it may look like this in the editor: You can see that a picture is now in the preview box but you can t make anything out because the picture is much bigger than the preview box. Notice the numbers in the Width and Height boxes on the left they indicate the width and height in pixels. A good size for a web picture would be from 200 to 300 pixels wide or tall, so this picture must be shrunk to a better size. Adjust the width to 250 pixels. There is no need to change the height because the editor will automatically adjust it to correspond to the width that you typed in. Now the picture should look like this: Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 14
Formatting Options The Border box on the left will draw a border around your picture. The width of the border is determined by the number you enter in the box. Borders are usually only 1 or 2 pixels wide. Note: The other pages on your site do not have borders around the pictures. To keep the design consistent you should leave this blank. The HSpace box refers to the horizontal (left and right) space around your picture. To keep the text on the page (or another picture) away from the edges of your picture you should allow 3 to 5 pixels on either side of the picture. The VSpace box refers to the vertical (top and bottom) space around your picture. If your picture appears below a paragraph you will probably need to adjust this to 3 to 5 pixels. The Align selector controls where the picture will appear in relation to the text or other pictures on the page. Align Left will keep your picture on the left hand side and the text will appear to the right. Align Top Text will Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 15
The Events Calendar The calendar included with the web site has many useful features. It will allow you to create individual or repeating entries for as many weeks or months as necessary. Adding Events To add an event to the calendar you must be logged in. Click on the Add an event link in the bottom left-hand corner of the calendar and you will see the following screen. Subject area: This is what will appear in the calendar box on your site. Categories: Each entry must be placed in a category. There are three categories to select from: Baby Signs Classes, Baby Signs Events, and Other Events. Categories allow your users to search for specific events more easily. Text Area: Use the text box area to type in a description of your event or class. When a user hovers over an entry on your site a popup window will display the Day, Date and Time of your event. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 16
After you are done entering your subject, selecting a category and adding the text for the event, click on the Calendar tab at the top of the page to set the date(s) and time(s) of the event. You can make events all day, or for a time range or you can make them repeat as often as you want. Here s how to make an entry repeat once-a-week over a period of several weeks: Once you click on the Calendar tab you will get the following screen: Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 17
To make a repeating entry you need to have an End date far enough out to cover the period of the entries. In this example I want the entry to cover five weeks starting October 1 st so I select October 29 th as an End date. Now I will be able to make selections in the Repeat type area below. I want the entry to repeat once per week on Mondays so I make those selections below. That s it! Click on the disk image to save the entry and you will have five repeating entries on your calendar. Delete or Modify an Existing Event. Click on the My Events link at the bottom of the Calendar page to bring up an Admin panel that lists all of your entries by category. Click on Delete to remove the entry completely from your calendar. Click on Modify to get into Edit mode. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 18
Contact/Links Page The Contact/Links page should contain information for your customers to contact you. You should include a telephone and address at the very least. This page also allows you to set up links to Baby Signs related sites, news articles about Baby Signs or signing babies, and other sites of interest to moms. Adding a Link A web address (url) typed into the editor will automatically show up as a link. But, some links contain long strings of information and it looks better if you use a shorter name for the link. The link below is actually a link to a CBS News Video. It would be much better if we could just call it CBS News Video and hide all of the other information. ml?clip=/media/2005/05/11/video wmv&vidid=3420&title=soothing$@$babies$@$wit h$@$signs&hitboxmlc=eveningnews Here s how to assign that link to CBS News Video : Go into Edit mode, type in the text you want to use for your link in this case it is CBS News Video and select or highlight the text. Now, select the Link icon from the editor menu ( world and chain link ) Link dialog box. Paste the link address into the URL area of the Link box. to bring up the Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 19
Next, click on the Target tab on the menu and select New Window (_blank) from the drop down list. This makes your link open a brand new browser window when it is clicked on that way people visiting your site can visit other links without closing your site pages. Click OK at the bottom of the Link box. Save your changes and your text will now be a link without the complete address showing. Adding an Link Instead of spelling out a complete address in your text area, try turning a descriptive word or two into an link. In the example below we will turn the text Site Support into a clickable link. First, highlight the words that will be turned into a link. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 20
Next, click on the Link button as indicated below. In the Link dialog box that appears, select from the dropdown menu. Under Address fill in the complete address. The Message Subject and Message Body areas are optional but they can be used to pre-fill those areas in the that will be sent to you. Click OK and the words you highlighted in the text area will now be an link. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 21
Product Orders through the Website For Baby Signs product orders you will have three options available for orders on your website. On the ICI Website Products page, there will be a notice that will direct interested parties to obtain ordering information from a personalized page [your Contact/Links page]. If you have signed up as a Baby Signs affiliate you may have your affiliate banner placed on the Product page (see instructions below). Option 1 On your Contact page you will have a link to a document order form for product orders that can be downloaded from that page. This document will allow a customer to fill in order and payment information and that form to you as an attachment. You will obtain the most current customer order forms from This form will be located under Download Files-Business folder-customer Order Form. You will be responsible for uploading the most current revision of this form to your site. However, you may modify your order form to list only courses or only products you want to sell. If you choose to modify your form you will notify customers that they can find a full line of Baby Signs Products on the site. In your signed Terms and Conditions paperwork you have agreed that only Baby Signs Products will be listed on this order form. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you understand that no other programs, classes or products are allowed to be marketed or sold through the ICI website order forms or calendar pages. Additionally, in your Terms and Conditions paperwork you agreed that if you are offering product sales through your website you will promptly reply to customers. You are responsible for promptly processing and confirming the customer s order. You will confirm the customer order via with a confirmation of receipt of their order and notify the customer that their order has been processed and will be delivered to them within in business days. You have 2 options for processing customer orders. One: You may keep an inventory of Baby Signs products that you can fill orders quickly and you will personally deliver or ship/mail products to customers from your inventory. This allows you to order products in larger quantities, which cuts shipping costs. Two: OR you can choose to drop ship products to your customers. To process drop ship orders you will order through the ICI store in the back end of the babysigns.com site (where you order all of your kits and products for ICI discounted prices). In order to process drop shipping at ICI prices you will put in your contact information in the Bill To section but put the customers mailing information into the Ship To section. Please note, you can only process one customer order at a time. Therefore, the shipping costs may be expensive in the drop ship option. Either way, you may pass these shipping costs onto your customers. It is up to your discretion to decide how to handle shipping costs. Please note that the order form on the Contact/Links page will be a downloadable form so it will not automatically calculate shipping. You will need to set up your form so that the customer can calculate shipping costs when mailing you the invoice (most ICI s use a percentage of the sale for shipping if they charge it). If you choose to Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 22
drop ship please forward the you receive from BSI that confirms product was shipped to your customer. Please note, from your signed Terms and Conditions you have agreed that if you offer product sales you will be responsible for promptly responding and delivering all product sales to customers. If BSI receives complaints or reports of slow delivery or no product delivery your ability to offer product sales through the ICI website will be terminated. Uploading and Linking to Your Order Form If you decide to use Option 1, you will have to upload your order form to your site and then create a link on your Contact/Links page. You upload documents the same way as you would upload pictures. Go into Edit mode, type in the text you want to use for your link in this case it is Baby Signs Product Order Form and select or highlight the text. Click on the Link icon (see arrow in picture above) and press the Browse button. Locate your personal folder and click on it. Select Browse to find the order form document on your computer and then click Upload. The order form will be uploaded to your folder. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 23
Click on the name of the order form and you will return to the Link box. The order form name will be in the URL area. Click OK and your link will now be connected to your order form. If you need to make changes to your order form just edit the copy on your home computer and upload the new document into the same folder. The new document will replace the old one. Option 2 You may choose to not offer product sales through your ICI Website. If you choose this option, instead of an order form link, you should create a link to the Products page for customers to order products directly from BSI. You will not make a profit from these orders as they are processed through BSI. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 24
To Create a Link to the Baby Signs Products Page Please see the section under Contact/Links page, Adding a Link. Copy the link below to point to the Baby Signs product page. ategories Option 3 If you are signed up in the Baby Signs Affiliate program you may put banners and links from your pepperjamnetwork.com account on your pages. When you find the banner click on the Get Code button on the right hand side and then paste that code into an to NOTE: The banner above is the only one that we can put on the Product page. You may copy any other banners and put them on your Instructor or Contact pages. To put a banner on your pages, click on the Add New Content link. Once the editor is open you must click on the Source button before you paste your code or the banner will not display properly. Paste the code, publish the article and your banner should appear. Please Note: If you copy a banner that is too wide it may affect the layout of your web page. Just delete the code and add a banner that fits. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 26
Tips Special Characters If you want to make the Trademark or Registered symbol when you type Baby Signs or Sign, Say & Play, you can do this: Hold down the ALT key and press 0174, then let go and you get Hold down the ALT key and press 0153, then let go and you get Pasting from Word You might have some material already written in a Word document that you would like to include on your site. The easiest thing to do is copy it from Word and paste it directly into your editor. However, pasting text directly from a Word document into your site editor can give you unexpected results. Word documents contain hidden formatting tags that are not compatible with your site editor. There are some things you can do to save you all the retyping. One quick way is to open the document in Word and then save it as a TXT file (Click Save As, then pick the Plain Text option in the Save as type area. That will remove all of the special formatting in the document and then you can copy and paste directly to the site editor. You can then use the site editor to add some formatting options. There is another way to accomplish this and leave some of the formatting in the document. You can copy and paste directly from Word into the editor but you will need to do a couple of things to clean up the code. Open your editor and then copy your information from Word. When you try to paste it, the site editor will recognize it is from a Word document and ask you if you want to clean it first. Click OK (see below). Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 27
After you press OK you will get another box to paste into paste by pressing CTRL+V and then hit OK. This will strip away most of the excess Word formatting and in the process probably change how your text looks. The box below shows how it looks in the editor after being cleaned. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 28
Finally, if you select the text and press the little eraser in the upper right hand corner it will remove other formatting options and change the text a little more. (See below). Answers to Common Issues The following are answers to commonly reported issues. Why is it that when I add content to my site it can't be seen unless I am logged in? It sounds like your information is not being "published." Information you add to the site remains unpublished until you decide it is ready. This gives you an opportunity to work on your entries and preview them on the site without it being seen by the public. When you are logged in you are always able to see all of your content - published or unpublished. The Publishing section of the manual shows how to turn Publishing on or off. Can I change the order of how the items on a page are published? Yes. When you are in Edit mode click on Publishing and select from the Ordering dropdown. See the Changing Publication Order section in the manual. The Baby Signs logo and my business name seem to flicker on and off? The ICI websites are designed to use the latest browsers and you may have unexpected results if you are using older browsers. You can use Internet Explorer version 6 and up, Firefox version 2 and up, Safari version 2 and up, or Netscape version 9. Other newer browsers may work but they are not supported. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 29
If you are using a Windows operating system other than XP, Vista or Windows 7, chances are you have an older browser in place, too, and you will probably experience problems. Browser downloads are free. Get the latest version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Netscape. I already have a domain name -- will I be able to use it on these sites? All of the ICI websites will use the same domain and will have a different subdomain name as part of their address. We may be able to point or redirect your old domain name to your new address, but that will depend on the company you registered the domain with or your hosting company. Why does my text look different than what I copied into the editor? If you are copying text from a Microsoft Word document into the site editor you may get unexpected results. Microsoft Word documents contain special formatting tags that are not compatible with other editors. The best way to ensure that your output looks like what you input is to type your text directly into the site editor -- but that isn't always the easiest. There are detailed instructions toward the end of the Instruction Manual for "cleaning" your copied text. When I open the editor I can't see any place to type in the text. Check the address (URL) that you typed into the browser. The beginning of the address must be If you are missing the "www" in the address the java editor will not function correctly. When I open the editor I can't see any of the icons shown in the instruction manual. The editor uses JavaScript. If you are using an older computer then you will probably experience problems with the editor. Browser downloads are free. Get the latest version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape. Please note: The Safari Browser is not compatible with the editor used on the ICI sites. Safari users should use Firefox when editing. When I try to save something that I have been working on I get a message that says, "You are not authorized to view this resource. You must be logged in." For security reasons, you are automatically logged off your site after 10 minutes if there are no changes. You should click the check mark icon every few minutes so that the changes you are making are saved. Clicking the check mark (instead of the disk icon) will allow you to keep working in edit mode and save your changes. When I am in Edit mode I can t see the icons that are shown in the examples. The icons are controlled by Java routines. If your browser is not up to date or your PC does not have Java enable you might not see the icons. Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 30
If you are using a Mac with the Safari browser then you might have problems seeing the icons. Download the Firefox browser (free) at Check the address (URL) that you typed into the browser. The beginning of the address must be If you are missing the "www" in the address the java editor will not function correctly. Support support is offered through Angle Solutions at sitesupport@anglesolutions.com. Most questions are addressed promptly, but please allow up to 24 hours for a response. You can download the latest version of the Instruction manual and view Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at Angle Solutions Baby Signs Program ICI Sites 31
