2 Single Provider Registration Process for EPCS 1. Prior to beginning the registration process the following items must be completed. a) Log into eprescribe b) Click on the Settings Tab c) Select Manage EPCS d) Log into Shield e) Select your name f) Click on Application Access (towards the bottom of the screen) g) Select eprescribe h) Manage Roles & Permission (over to the right side of the screen) i) Permission Screen will display j) Next to NIST3 check Allow k) Click Ok l) Click Submit Message comes up Complete. m) Log out of Shield there may be from a 20 minute to a 2 hour delay before the change takes effect. 2. Provider then needs to perform Identity Proofing (registration) a) Provider will Log into eprescribe b) Click the pencil in the right upper corner next to your name. This will bring you into the user s profile) c) Scroll to the bottom Start EPCS Registration d) Log into Shield e) Shows user profiles (if logged in as admin will show all users if logged in as the provider will only see his/her info) f) Select User g) My Account (drop down menu) h) Select Identity Proofing 3. 3 Enter Contact Information Create Username, Password and Pin NOTE this is for Verizon not to be confused with Shield or eprescribe user id. This information will be needed to edit the registration if the token is lost or stolen (keep a copy) or if the highest level of security is not granted. Copyright 2013 Allscripts Healthcare, LLC. 3

4 Choose and Answer Security Questions Verify Contacts a) Enter the serial number of the token b) Are you sure you want to Register the token - yes c) Enter the OTP (one time password) from the token and press verify (the number refreshes every 30 seconds. If you are close to the time out period, you may be asked to reenter the number. If so, click the button on the token to generate a new six-digit code. d) Click Next Copyright 2013 Allscripts Healthcare, LLC. 4

5 Identity Verification a) Enter the last 4 digits of your social security number and the month and year you were born b) Click Next NOTE: Once you click the next button a screen will displays a list of five questions, which you have a total of two minutes to answer. The questions are derived from commercial databases and public records from around the country. The process is similar to those questions you are asked when applying for a credit card over the internet. From the information provided, you and only will be able to answer the questions and confirm your identity! ** You will receive an confirming the account was created ** NOTE: If Verizon was not able to complete the identity proofing process, you will need to follow the Alternate Identity Proofing Process. That process involves printing a notary form, taking it to a Notary Public for signature, and faxing the form. The process is provided in detail within an that you will receive. 6 If you receive a message stating Account Created Low or Medium clearance then not all the answers to the questions were answered correctly. a) An will be sent with a link to Verizon Instructions to download the notary form b) You could then login to Verizon again and try to answer the questions or download the form for the Notary c) Once faxed to the number on the it may take 24 hour for Verizon to notify you to continue 5. Setting up the EPCS Approver in Shield a) Log into eprescribe b) Settings Tab c) Select Manage EPCS d) Log into Shield e) Select your name f) Click on Application Access (see A below in screenshot) g) Select eprescribe (see B below in screenshot) h) Manage Roles & Permission (see C below in screenshot) i) Permission Screen will display j) Next to EPCS Approver check Allow (see D below in screenshot) k) Click Ok l) Click Submit Message comes up Complete. m) Log out of Shield. There may be a 20 minute caching delay before performing the next step below. 6. Approve for EPCS a) Log into eprescribe b) Click the pencil in the right upper corner next to your name. c) Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Manage Waiting Approvals d) Log into Shield e) Select your name f) Click on Application Access (see A below in screenshot) g) Select eprescribe (see B below in screenshot) h) Manage Roles & Permission (see C below in screenshot) i) The EPCS Permission box comes up j) Check the box next to EPCS (see E below in screenshot) k) Review the Due Diligence Dialog and check all four boxes (see F below in screenshot) l) Enter your eprescribe login/password (see G below in screenshot) m) Token Device will be filled with the Hardware Token n) Enter the OTP (One time password generated on the key fob token) o) Click Accept Copyright 2013 Allscripts Healthcare, LLC. 6

8 F G 8. Logout of Shield and back into eprescribe again there may be a delay in between the process up to two hours. 9. How to verify that EPCS registration has been completed and you can begin prescribing for a controlled substance medication. a) On the Patient selection page, click the pencil next to your name in the upper right hand corner b) On your profile screen scroll to the bottom of the page and you will now see that EPCS Permission is set to ON. c) You will now have the EPCS permission to prescribe and sign Controlled Substance Prescriptions Copyright 2013 Allscripts Healthcare, LLC. 8
