2 SACRAMENTO COUNTY UNIFORM CRIME REPORT This report provides a five-year analysis of crime trends within the jurisdiction of the Sacramento County Sheriff s Department from 2013 to Data in this report includes all crimes known to law enforcement, and is derived from the FBI s Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Crime rates as well as total numbers of crime saw an overall reduction from 2013 to Crime incidents fell 21% from 15,109 to 11,895 a reduction of almost 3,250 crimes countywide. Crime rates (total crimes per 100,000 residents) decreased by almost one-fourth, at 24% from 2,661.8 to 2, Property crimes had the highest reduction in incidents, from in 2013 to 9284 in 2017 a 23% change. Property crime rates fell 25.5% from 2,127.4 per 100,000 residents to 1,585.4 per 100,000 residents. This decrease was most appreciable in burglaries, which had a 41% decrease from 4,211 to 2,492 crimes. Though motor vehicle thefts saw an increase of 60%, the net growth was only 70 incidents. Violent crimes decreased as well, with a total reduction of 14% from 2013 to Robberies saw the largest reduction, from 1,027 to 772 crimes, which is a one-fourth (25%) decrease in number of incidents. Aggravated assaults represented the highest rates of all violent crime in Sacramento County, and fell 9% from 1,818 in 2013 to 1,654 in Two types of crimes remained relatively unchanged through 2013 to 2017 with regards to number of incidents. First, homicide trends stayed roughly the same from 2013 to 2017 (30 and 31 incidents, respectively) with a rate of 5.3 per 100,000 residents for both years. Second, rape incident counts were fairly level from 2013 (158 incidents) to 2017 (154 incidents), with a slight reduction in rates from 27.8 to 26.3 per 100,000 residents.
