4 1 Product Description 1.1 Intended use This software is used for measurement parameter configuration in ETAS devices. It is available as add-on for INCA measurement and calibration software or as software for standalone usage. This version supports following devices: Voltage measurement instruments: ES410, ES411, ES413 and ES415 Thermo measurement instruments: ES420 and ES421 Lambda measurement instruments: ES430 and ES432 Pulse signal measurement instruments: ES System Requirements Hardware 2 GHz PC or higher 1 GB RAM or higher DVD-ROM drive for the installation Network adapter Video adapter with 800 x 600 and 16bit colors or higher Operating system Microsoft Windows XP (SP1), Vista (SP1), 7, 8, 10 Disk space Adin rights 500 MB (not including required size for measurement data) Write access to registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) 1.3 Software Requirements ETAS HSP ETAS INCA All used modules must be updated with HSP V or higher Add-on is compatible with INCA V7.2.0 or higher 1.4 Installation The software is delivered as an executable file with integrated installation routine. 1.5 Uninstall Whenever uninstalling INCA, the included INCA uninstall program should be used. This ensures that all add-ons and other products installed together with INCA will be also uninstalled. Page 4 of 7

5 2 Change History V Known issue of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.5 and V7.2.8 Build 4 with INCA V7.2.: INCA very slow after install of the Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 4 Affected Daisy Chain Configuration Tools: V7.2.5 and V7.2.8 Build 4. Affected INCA Versions: INCA V7.2 If INCA V7.2 was installed and then Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.5 or V7.2.8 Build 4, then files of INCA will be replaced, which leads to a performance degradation. Note: It is no issue if Daisy Chain Configuration Tool was installed before and then afterwards INCA V7.2. The issue is solved with Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 11. Recommendation: Update to Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 11. Then uninstall INCA and install INCA again. OR Install (update or down date) to another INCA V7.2 Service Pack. Note: Repair of the installed INCA V7.2 worked not in all cases. Known issue of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.5 and V7.2.8 Build 4 with INCA V7.2.: After uninstallation of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 4" INCA does not start anymore. INCA crashed when INCA was opened after uninstallation of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 4. Affected Daisy Chain Configuration Tools: V7.2.5 and V7.2.8 Build 4. Affected INCA Versions: All INCA V7.2 During uninstallation of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.5 or V7.2.8 Build 4 or during update of Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.5 or V7.2.8 Build 4 to Daisy Chain Configuration Tool V7.2.8 Build 11 or higher, files of the INCA V7.2 installation will be deleted. The issue is solved with Standalone Tool DaisyChain V7.2.8 Build 11. Recommendation: Uninstall INCA and install the INCA Service Pack new OR install (update or down date) another INCA V7.2 Service Pack. Note: Repair of the installed INCA V7.2 worked not in all cases. General recommendation: Before installation of another version of INCA V7.2, the Daisy Chain Configuration Tool shall be updated to version Build 11 or higher to avoid the reported issues. 7 3 Application Notes 3.1 Contact, Support and Problem Reporting For details of your local sales office as well as your local technical support team and product hotlines, take a look at the ETAS website: ETAS subsidiaries WWW: ETAS technical support WWW: Network Performance INCA continuously monitors the performance of the Ethernet adapter in use. In case of insufficient performance that might lead to missing measurement data, a message window appears after measurement is stopped. In large setups with an overall sampling rate of > 40k Samples/s, use of PCMCIA Ethernet adapters is NOT recommended. To achieve high data throughput, use of PC-Card, CardBus or ExpressCard Ethernet adapters instead of PCMCIA Ethernet adapters is highly recommended. Using Ethernet adapters compliant to the NDIS5 standard on multicore-pcs might cause timestamp issues sporadically. We recommend the exclusive use of Ethernet adapters according to the current NDIS6 standard. 3.3 Anti-Virus Tools To ensure the highest data security for data in the INCA database, the database is saved after every data change or access. This leads to a high amount of read/write cycles and this initiates the scan engine of the virus scan tools to check the differences if the option 'scan all files' is set. This leads to a delay working with INCA. We recommend excluding all files of the INCA database from scanning. Page 7 of 7
