1 Logging into Synergy TeacherVUE Synergy Grade Book Link: (Synergy is available outside the CCSD network) Login: Badge ID/network password Note: Your Synergy ID/password is the same as your network ID/password. Do not change your password within Synergy. To reset your password, contact the Customer Care Center (770)

2 Grade Book Setup Important!! Verify completion of the following gradebook setup tasks BEFORE adding your first gradebook assignment: Access Grade Book setup Mouse over Grade Book on blue bar at top of screen. Select Gradebook Setup. Click Home in the blue menu at any time to return to the seating chart in TVUE. 1. Final Grade Rounding Settings & Grading Period Default for New Assignments Grade Book Setup/Grade Book Settings tab Select Rounding On and either Whole Number Only, 1 or 2 Decimal Place(s) Select Assignment Due Date This setting controls which grading periods will be selected by default when creating a new assignment.

3 2. Grade Book Comments Grade Setup > Grade Book Comments menu option Click on the Grade Book Comments link. Click on the edit button to edit the current comments. To get more comments than the default number you may click the NEW button to add comments. To have the comments consistent for the ones we use at this school make sure that the comments fields for each row and column match the example in the picture below. You will need to click the Insert button after creating any new comments.

4 3. Assignment Types & Weights Grade Setup > Assignment Types menu option Assignment Type weighting determines how much weight each type of assignment holds in calculating the final grade. The total weight of all the assignment types should add up to 100%. If the numbers are left at 0, each type of assignment will automatically receive an equal amount of weight. The student s overall class grade will be determined by the total points earned divided by the total points possible. Create Assignment Types On the Assignment Types screen, click the New button to create new assignment types. Enter Measure Type (The assignment type you are creating. It will be known as assignment type, category & measure type.) Enter Sequence (determines order the type appears in new assignment list) Select Yes for Due Date (click on Yes & No to toggle selections.) Select Yes so the Due Date will be visible when adding/editing assignments. Select a Color Picker for the type (recommended) to distinguish different types in the gradebook. Click Insert to add (or update) the new type to the gradebook or Cancel to return without adding the new type. Assignment Type names can be edited by clicking the edit button or hover the mouse in the edit column just to the left of the Measure Type name Click Options to show any hidden (deleted) types. You must create an assignment type called EOC! Other assignment types should be determined by the Department/Collaborative. DO NOT DELETE assignment types once they have been used. Doing so could result in incorrect or incomplete grade calculations & can affect what parents see in PVUE. Edits to the names of the assignment types can be done. It is best to run a grade book report prior to making significant assignment type changes to ensure grade calculations are not affected unless that is the desired result. Changing weights can affect students grade calculations.

5 Add Assignment Type Weights Rev. 5/2016 Grade Book > Grade Book Setup All assignment types weighting must be set up PRIOR to adding grades on any assignments. If weights are used, each section (class) weight totals must equal 100%. Courses requiring EOC must set up assignment type weights using the appropriate 15% or 20% based on students Ninth Grade entry date. (See below) Changing weights on assignment types after grades have been entered will result in grade calculation changes. Edit the Weight (%) for each Assignment Type that relates to the class you have selected. These weights should be determined by Collaborative. You may also select any other classes that share the same Assignment Types and Weights in order to apply those to all of the classes at once. Click Update once you have the class Weights = 100%.
