1 Instruction Bulletin Trim and Rail Extension Kit (6-, 12-, and 18-inch) Installation onto an NF Panelboard Class /2008 Peru, IN, USA Retain for future use. Introduction This bulletin contains instructions for installing a Square D brand trim and rail extension kit onto a Square D brand NF panelboard manufactured by Schneider Electric. Safety Precautions DANGER HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E. This equipment must only be installed and serviced by qualified electrical personnel. Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment. Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off. Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on power to this equipment. Retain the four screws for reuse. Cover plate Deadfront assembly Main lug cover 2 Install the rail extensions to the existing mounting rails opposite the mains end. 3 Trim and Rail Extension Kit (6-, 12-, and 18-inch) 06/2008 Installing the NF Panelboard Trim and Rail Extension Kit 3 Use two x 5/16-inch screws included in the NF12RDE and NF18RDE kits to install the deadfront support brackets onto the proper rail extension holes, as detailed in Table 1. NOTE: Ensure the tops of the brackets are pointing towards each other. 4 Trim and Rail Extension Kit (6-, 12-, and 18-inch) Installing the NF Panelboard Trim and Rail Extension Kit 06/ When installing the 12-inch rail extension in 400 and 600 A panelboards, install the deadfront support bracket onto the existing mounting rail, using two x 5/16-inch screws included in the kit in. (31.75 mm) 5 Remove the existing cover plate (see the figure in step 1) and discard, but retain the two screws. Mount the deadfront cover included in the kit using the two retained screws. NOTE: 12-inch extension shown.
