21 7. Using the device for the first time NOTE! Before using for the first time, be sure to read Chapter 5. Safety instructions on page Charging the battery The speaker is operated via the integrated 3.7 V lithiumpolymer battery (500 mah). Before use, this battery must be fully charged. 22 To charge, connect the USB port on the speaker to a USB port on a computer or use a USB mains adapter. The POWER LED lights up red while charging. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the POWER LED switches off. NOTE! 23 8. Operation 8.1. Switching on the speaker for Bluetooth reception Hold down the ON/OFF switch for about 2 seconds to switch on the speaker. The POWER LED will blink fast and you will hear a double beep as confirmation. The device is now ready to be paired with another Bluetooth device Connecting a device via Bluetooth Bluetooth operation enables the wireless reception of audio signals from an external Bluetooth-compatible audio output device. 24 NOTE Only one Bluetooth device can be paired with the speaker at a time. A simultaneous connection with, for example, a telephone and an audio output device is not possible. Switch on the Bluetooth function on your audio output device and activate the search for new Bluetooth devices. Select the speaker ( MD84531 ) from the list of available Bluetooth devices and make the connection to the speaker via the menu on your audio output device. Control buttons on the speaker Adjusting the volume Use the + / - buttons on the speaker to adjust the volume while in Bluetooth operation: + Increase volume Reduce volume A confirmation tone will sound while the volume is being adjusted Accepting telephone calls If the speaker is connected to a telephone via Bluetooth, the ring tone will sound from the speaker in the event of an incoming call. 30 10. Cleaning Do not use solvents or caustic/gaseous cleaning agents to clean the speaker. Pieces of furniture often have various varnish finishes or synthetic coatings and are treated with a wide range of care products. Some of these substances contain components which are capable of adverse reactions with the speaker feet. Use a non-slip underlay to prevent this problem where applicable. 31 11. Customer service What to do in case of malfunctions Malfunctions often occur for the simplest of reasons, but some are complex and require intricate analysis. We have included a brief troubleshooting guide below which may help to solve any problems. No sound / distorted sound Is the audio device switched on and have you started playback and set at least a medium volume? Increase the volume as necessary. Is the speaker volume set too high? It is not possible to connect other devices via Bluetooth Have you selected the correct Bluetooth device "MD 84531" from the list of available Bluetooth devices? 33 12. Disposal Packaging All packaging and packaging materials that are no longer required can and should be recycled. Correct disposal of this product This product may not be thrown away with the household refuse.
