3 ipad Set-up Service. You need to supply an ipad directly to your user, without having to worry about having to configure them beforehand. You are concerned about users configuring an ipad for themselves, as mistakes take time to sort out and are an added cost to your already stretched IT budget. You want to make sure that your users cannot change how their ipad is set-up, but you want to give them the freedom to control other settings. Insight s ipad set-up service allows you to ship a pre-configured and activated ipad direct to your users, no matter where they are. Choose from either having a configuration profile installed on the ipad, allowing you to set an initial configuration which can be updated by the user installing a new package of settings, or enrolling the ipad into your Mobile Device Management (MDM) server so that you can update and inventory it remotely. If you don t already have an MDM server then you should consider Insight s Configuration Management solution which covers us installing and configuring one for you either at your premises or in a hosted data centre. 4 Configuration Management. SAVE TIME AND MONEY More and more users are demanding to go mobile and the challenge for the IT department is how to manage the devices that users want to use. Configuring large numbers of ipad, iphone or ipod touch devices by hand can be time consuming and ensuring that changes are rolled out to existing users can take up valuable IT resources. You ve got half a dozen or more ipad, iphone or ipod touch devices and you want to avoid having to manually configure all of the settings that you and your users need. You also want to make sure that you can easily set-up two or more of them with the same configuration without making mistakes. You wish to make sure that users accessing your systems are compliant with any current and future IT policies and you want to be able to update policies on the device without having to handle each one individually. You need to ensure that security of your Apple mobile device is not compromised and you want to be able to remotely locate, lock or wipe a device should it be lost or stolen. You may want to ensure that mobile devices are not used inappropriately by disabling features such as You Tube TM, cameras, the App Store or data usage whilst roaming and by automatically configuring things such as Exchange TM server access, 802.1x secure wireless, security certificates or VPN access. ALWAYS SECURE Any configuration that is made on the device itself can always be removed from the device. With a Mobile Device Management solution configurations can be made that cannot, accidentally or otherwise, be removed by the user. However... ipad, iphone & ipod touch are easy to use, which is one of the main reasons that they are becoming increasingly attractive to users. However, making a slew of configurations so that they can access your wireless networks, VPN, & calendars or ensuring that the latest version of the ios or any Apps that you use are installed can be something that can take some time to do. Users can t always be relied on to configure them themselves and will forget to install updates in a timely manner. One of the greatest assets of a mobile device is it s very mobility, however this can also pose a problem, if the user is out of the office, it may be difficult to talk them through making a change or you may not want to reveal something like the access key to your VPN to a user directly. If a user has manually configured a passcode on their device there is no way to reset it if they forget what that passcode is and if the user loses the device or it is stolen you will want to ensure that it is either wiped immediately or that you can easily locate it remotely. Insight s Configuration Management Solution will provide you with a self-service portal through which users can enroll devices themselves, whilst authenticating against their Active Directory user account, and have mandatory and optional configuration profiles automatically pushed to their device making set-up just a matter of a few clicks. You can choose what settings a user can change and which ones you set for them and provide optional bundles of settings that they can apply as they need them. Once the device is enrolled any changes that are made at the server will, almost instantly, be pushed out to the device meaning that one or a thousand devices can have their configurations updated in a matter of moments. Policies can be set per user or device or by groups of users or devices allowing you to decide exactly who gets access to which settings. Devices can be inventoried to confirm what software versions are installed and access to the network can be blocked if security updates have not been installed. You can remotely change the passcode on a device, lock it or even wipe all of the data on it. Through Apple s Push Notification Service, Apple mobile devices become accessible anywhere in the world as your Mobile Device Management server sends a notification via APNS to the device informing it that it needs to check in with the MDM server for an update. 5 Virtual Desktop and Applications. You have ipad, iphone or ipod touch devices and you want to provide users with a familiar environment on their new device. You need to run mission critical Windows-based line of business applications on your Apple mobile devices. You wish to provide a sandboxed environment on your ipad, iphone or ipod touch so that no sensitive data is ever stored on the device. You want to provide users with a common set of applications that can be used on virtually any client device, not just Apple mobile devices but a range of smartphones, (BlackBerry/ Windows or Android), Macs, Linux or thin clients. However... If you already use a commercial off the shelf application for Windows as part of your organisations s workflow what are your options if you want to deploy Apple mobile devices? If you are fortunate the application s publisher already makes an App which either provides you with full functionality on the move or a reduced set of the most common functions which will tide you over until you are back at your desk. You could look for an alternative application to run on your Apple mobile device which allows you to do the same job or which can read and write your existing files. Whilst there are well over 500,000 Apps available on the App Store, with more being added every day, there may not be a suitable alternative for an application that is critical to your business. MISSION CRITICAL Whilst ipad, iphone and ipod touch can run a wide range of Apps you may well run into an existing program that you simply can t find an alternative for, or you may have applications that you have written in-house that cannot be rewritten to run natively, and that you need to have access to whilst on the move. SAFE & SECURE Running , spreadsheets or other software within a virtual environment means that there is no sensitive information on the device to be lost or stolen. 6 Network Ready. You are looking to support ipad, iphone or ipod touch within your business but you are unsure if you have sufficient wireless networking bandwidth within your premises for the number of devices that you want to use. You need to secure your network from intrusion whilst allowing authorised users the access that they need simply and easily. You wish to ensure that mobile users are able to securely access the resources that they need from wherever they may be. You want to provide wireless access anywhere within your premises or the surrounding area but you are unsure if you have any areas with poor or no coverage. ALWAYS ON Whether it is via a 3G connection or through wireless it is essential that ipad, iphone and ipod touch have an always on internet connection in order for you to get the best out of them and so they can be effectively managed. SECURE ACCESS With a wireless network you need a solution that keeps unauthorised users out without making life complicated for those that you do want to get access. You will also want to make sure that mobile users can securely access the resources that they need when away from the office.
