2 The Essentiels2020 strategy, which has been running since 2015, has enabled us to establish our position as a major player in Africa with Orange Money and to position ourselves in Europe as a serious competitor in the banking world with Orange Bank. Our ambition is to provide the largest number of innovative, secure, simple and accessible offers that meet everyone's needs. These offers are of 3 types: 1. Orange Money in Africa, first diversification in Financial Services since 2018 What is Orange Money? Orange Money is a mobile account linked to an Orange mobile telephone number designed to meet the needs of customers in Africa and the Middle East, where most transactions are carried out in cash. The Orange Money service is highly popular, especially with customers in Sub-Saharan Africa, where fewer than 24% of the population has a bank account while 80% own a mobile telephone. The success of Orange Money lies in its ability to convert ready cash into electronic money, simply by using a mobile telephone. The Orange Money service uses USSD technology, which is very similar to the systems used to send text messages. It is compatible with 99% of all mobile phones. The service is also available on Smartphones via app to meet customers equipment. Orange Money transactions by telephone are completely safe and available, 24/7. Opening an Orange Money account is free and very easy to do: money deposits and transfers are made over the conventional GSM network. Three types of transactions can be made with the Orange Money service: money transfers: money can be sent electronically to any Orange Money customer living in the same country. In some countries, it is also possible to transfer money internationally and to transfer it to customers of other operators payment: users can easily pay merchants and certain bills, or buy airtime financial services: services include savings and insurance solutions, depending on the country of origin. In 2017, Orange created 7 Electronic Money Issuers in Côte d Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burkina Faso and Sierra Leone. They issue, distribute and manage electronic money in place of a banking partner. This status makes Orange more agile and autonomous when launching new services. Our customers will have access to increasingly innovative service offers in a shorter period of time. We intend to acquire a banking license in West Africa in the next two years.
3 To ensure banking compliance, the Orange Group created CECOM, a centre for Orange Money compliance expertise based in Abidjan. By becoming an Electronic Money Issuer, Orange strengthens its position as a major player in mobile money. Orange Money future developments Offer financial services such as credit, savings and insurance Develop Orange Money in countries with high growth potential Make Orange Money a universal mean of payment Key Orange Money figures Service launched in Côte d Ivoire in December 2008 Orange Money is available in 17 countries of Africa and the Middle East (by order of launch) : Côte d'ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Madagascar, Botswana, Cameroon, Mauritius, Guinea Conakry, Egypt, Tunisia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau. # customers up to date (Dec 2017) : 37 million (1/3 of the customers in MEA zone) # active customers up to date (Dec 2017): > 12 million (customers who use Orange Money every month) # point of sales : # transaction value : 26 billion in 2017 # yearly revenue : 241million in 2017 Key Orange Money dates February 2018 : Orange Money International Money Transfer from Botswana to Zimbabwe. 4 March 2017: UBA (Union Bank for Africa) and Orange signed a partnership to offer financial services across Africa to Orange Money customers. January 2017: Vivo Energy, the Shell licensee in Africa, and Orange have signed a partnership agreement in order to strengthen both companies footprints and to improve customers experience by offering them more convenience. Orange Money customers will have access to a network of over 1,000 Shell service stations to transact from. On the other hand, Vivo Energy customers will enjoy the trusted and secured services offered by the Orange Money platform. They will also save time and money on their payment transactions. December 2016: The Orange Money Visa card was launched in Botswana, followed by Cameroon. Limited to users of Orange Money, this card is a first in French-speaking Africa. It is no longer necessary to have a bank account to get a Visa card. The Orange Money Visa card meets the needs of all segments of the population looking for basic means of payment: workers with no bank account, informal workers, inhabitants of rural areas, young selfemployed workers, students, retirees, etc. With the card, Orange Money users can now carry out their Orange Money transactions at all cash withdrawal and connected payment machines in the Visa network. December 2015: the three telecom operators in Madagascar Orange, Telma and Airtel launched interoperability of their respective Mobile Money services. Each customer can therefore send and receive money to and from all of the markets mobile money accounts, estimated to be just over 4 million, including 1.5 million for Orange. This is the third implementation of interoperability in the world and the first to concern Orange, and it is the first time that it was carried out at the same time between all of the market s operators. September 2015: Orange Collecte, the first 100% mobile crowdfunding service, exclusively for Orange Money customers. Orange Côte d Ivoire has launched the first mobile platform for crowdfunding in Africa: Orange Collecte. The platform offers individuals and associations the possibility of funding their personal projects (weddings, anniversaries, etc.) and their charitable projects (contributions, events, projects, etc.) by calling on their network. This innovative service is open to all of the country s Orange Money customers. Contributors can make donations via their Orange Money electronic wallet. January 2015: Orange invests in Afrimarket, the leading start-up in cash-to-goods money transfers. With Afrimarket, Orange Money adds a cash-to-goods function to its range of mobile financial services. Available from France, it provides both security and convenience. Afrimarket allows direct payment from Europe for the daily needs of family members on the African continent. Orange customers may access the site and pay with their Orange Money account.
5 June 2014: Services for customers with a bank account: Orange has joined with banks BNP Paribas, Ecobank, Bank of Africa, Microcred, Banque Atlantique and other local banks in Africa to allow customers with a bank account to transfer money easily and at any time from their bank account to their Orange Money account using their mobile, and vice versa. They can then access the full range of Orange Money services to buy goods and services, pay their bills or transfer money to family members without a bank account. These new services are available in Mali, Côte d Ivoire, Madagascar, Cameroon, Niger, Guinea Conakry and soon in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone. Partnerships such as this with the banks facilitate exchanges between those with bank accounts and those without. Orange Money gives bank access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. July 2013: International money transfer via mobile by Orange Money. The Orange Money International Transfer service allows money to be transferred between mobile phones in four African countries: Côte d Ivoire, Mali, Senegal and Burkina Faso.
