A delegation of senior executives from mobile phone manufacturing companies headed by president Pankaj Mohindroo met Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday after visiting a proposed site on the outskirts of the city. According to the chief minister's office, Rao has sought a detailed project report with a list of requirements apart from land so that the government can provide infrastructure and other support. The project is expected to generate 1,50,000-2,00,000 jobs. Karbonn Mobiles Chairman Sudhir Hasija, Foxconn India managing director Josh Foulger and Celkon managing director Y Guru, among others, were present in the meeting. The state government and the companies have entered into a broad understanding to set up the country's first mobile phone manufacturing hub in Hyderabad," the chief minister's office said in a statement. The government is also working on promoting the electronic hardware clusters by attracting mobile phone manufacturers, solar panel and chip makers to set up their operations in the state, he said. The government would develop IT clusters in several places around the city in addition to the existing hubs, according to him. The IT sector exports grew 15.7 per cent at Rs 66,276 crore from Hyderabad in against Rs 57,258 crore in the previous year. About 48,000 new jobs were created during the period, according to the report. Explaining about the future initiatives, the minister said Hyderabad would be developed as a start-up hub of the country while taping the venture capital and knowledge resources of the Silicon Valley in the United States of America. The government would start the country's largest start-up incubator in the next days in the presence of Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, he said. Some of the major initiatives undertook by the IT department in the first one year include, creation of two electronic manufacturing clusters of 900 acres each, formation of T-Hub-an incubation facility with a total built up area of 3 million square feet and making 60,000 square feet operational this month, launching of Telangana Academy of Skills and Knowledge(TASK) with an aim to make college phase-outs employable, according to the officials.

The mobile phone manufacturers including Celkon, Karbon, Foxconn and others have expressed their willingness to be partners in the Hub. Representatives of the mobile phone manufacturers have also inspected the lands in Mamidipalli, Raviral and Maheshwaram in Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday and said that they found the location suitable to set up their mobile phone manufacturing units. Indian Cellular Assocation (ICA) national chairman Pankaj Mahindra, Karbon mobiles chairman Sudhir Hasija, Celkon MD Y Guru, executive director Murali Retineni, Water World International representative Tony called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Tuesday regarding the establishment of the hub. They informed the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that around 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh jobs can be generated through the proposed mobile hub. KCR assured them that the State government will provide all facilities to them for establishing their units. Rao also directed them to submit a detailed project report on the services that will be provided at the hub. Earlier, Industries Secretary Arvind Kumar, TSIIC MD EV Narsimha Reddy gave a tour of the proposed lands to the delegation.

9 IT exports from Telangana up 16% By B Krishna Mohan Jun Exceeding the national growth rate, IT exports from Telangana grew at 15.7 per cent to cross Rs 66,000 crore in from Rs 57,000 crore last year. The growth rate of IT exports from Telangana exceeds the national IT growth rate of 13 per cent, the state s information technology minister K Taraka Rama Rao said. Releasing the progress report for the IT ministry in the first year here on Tuesday, he said the government targeted exports of Rs 1.20 lakh crore by 2019 and the state was on course to achieve the target. The IT industry added 50,000 more jobs this year. It employed 3.71 lakh people directly in , up from 3.23 lakh in the previous year, he said, adding the state is setting up T-hub, the biggest incubator in the country and efforts will be made to set up a branch of it in Silicon Valley. The government will encourage new entrepreneurs and as part of this policy, a MSME Tower to support small and medium entrepreneurs will be set up at Gachibowli, he said. Meanwhile, taking a step forward to promote electronic manufacturing, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao said Telangana would look to set up a mobile manufacturing cluster in the country. Members of including its national president Pankaj Mahindra, Karbonn chairman Sudhir H Celkon, managing director Y Guru and executive director Murali Retineni and Foxxconn International representatives have met the chief minister. The mobile players and the government of Telangana have in principle agreed to set up a mobile manufacturing cluster in the state. The chief minister asked officials to make available land required for the projects and create the necessary infrastructure needed. He asked the visiting members to prepare a comprehensive plan for the cluster.
