7 Working with Further Education OCN NI works in partnership with the 6 Further Education colleges across Northern Ireland and in recent years the majority of our learners who have achieved qualifications have done so in a further education college. Informed by the changing agenda for further education, our focus is on creating the highest quality qualifications which are accessible to all and enable the learner to thrive. OCN NI recognises the need to adapt and change in response to the challenging economic environment colleges work in. The very contours of our activities have focussed on developing cost-effective qualifications informed by funding changes and the deluge of policy initiatives which have shaped the further education sector over the past ten years. OCN NI qualifications are flexible, responsive to individuals, cumulative, progressive and success-based. They are credit-based, and offer locally-responsive curricula and quality assurance arrangements, operating within national quality frameworks.
