4 What is an Apprenticeship? An Apprenticeship is an employer responsive programme. The programme is full/part funded by the government to build the skills of new employees, and existing employees where training is required to develop them into a new or existing role. Any new or existing employee can undertake an apprenticeship programme, as long as the employer is in agreement that the employee can have, time to train, and supports the programme. Employees must hold and employment contract in a relevant job role to the qualification. Apprentices are good for business A recent study by the University of Warwick Institute for Employment Research (IER) demonstrated that Apprenticeships are an investment. The returns are most significant where an employer nurtures that investment. The study concluded that: The costs of Apprenticeship training is recouped relatively quickly Apprentices provide a pool of skilled people for future promotion Apprentices are seen as more loyal and steeped in company values Apprentices bring new ideas into organisations Information for Employers Apprenticeships are an ideal way to train new and existing employees with industry specific skills whilst equipping them with a nationally recognised qualification. Choosing to become an apprentice shows commitment to a chosen career path giving you, as the employer, a motivated individual who can bring the skills learned directly into your work place. Apprenticeships entail learning in the workplace as well as a programme of study. The apprentice may study the technical elements at a training provider with an assessor visiting the workplace to check on their progress in conjunction with a mentor within the workplace. 5 What are the options for employers? Employ an apprentice If you decide to fill your vacancy with an apprentice through E Ltd, we will advertise your vacancy for free using the Apprenticeship Vacancy Online service and collate suitable applicants CVs for you from our range of programmes. We can also carry out candidate pre-interviews for you and assist with the interviews if you would like us to do so. Your apprentice can be taught either at one of our seven centres within North, East and West London or within your workplace (dependent on sector). Apprenticeships for existing employees An Apprenticeship may be an appropriate method to up-skill your existing workforce on a range of sectors. Not only do Apprenticeships improve the technical abilities and efficiencies of your employees, they also improve IT, communication, literacy and numeracy skills. Information for Learners Apprenticeships are the ideal way to develop knowledge and skills within the workplace whilst undertaking a programme of study. Apprentices spend most of the week working and spend the rest of the week learning. Apprenticeships mean you can further your career and earn a wage at the same time. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst learning industry specific skills in the work place. The value of Apprenticeships is increasingly being recognised in industry for work based learning. Apprenticeships are nationally designed work-based training programmes for 1-18 year olds and adults who have left full-time education. Each Apprenticeship consists of a framework, which sets out the qualifications gained by each course of study. An apprentice will be employed for a minimum of 0 hours per week, which includes time allocated for training. fb.com/elimited twitter.com/elimited Tel:
