15 Project Manager Requirements (from Contract) Programme Manager shall have: (a) At least five (5) years of IT project management experience; (b) Attained Certified IT Project Management Programme (CITPM) or equivalent certification or processes qualification/certification that fulfil the certification criteria for CITPM set by the certification body; Project Manager shall have: Minimum five (5) years of IT experience, with five (5) years of <technology> project management experience and preferably possess certifications such as PMP, CITPM, ITIL or equivalent;

17 Steps to become IT Project Manager Update your resume to include (1) & (2), domain knowledge and any PM experience in prior job(s) Apply for IT PM job that has close fit to your profile Take on smaller IT PM role first and learn the ropes quickly Hone both your PM & IT skills and take on more challenging PM role for career growth Acquire strong fundamental IT knowledge in one area of interest (e.g. analytics, security) Get one Project Management certifications (e.g. take course) Refresh your project management knowledge (e.g. reading)
