It will combine the services of the cloud that is Infrastructure as a service and Platform as a Service, and will provide a Virtual machine with desired environment. The system will be designed so that user can code from any place and all his work will be saved in a central place so that there will be no data loss and it will provide the advantage of mobility to the user. In this way a better coding environment will be provided to users with data mobility as well as coding, compiling and executing ready to use environment. Keywords Cloud Computing, Virtual Box, Vagrant, Ansible, remote configuration I. INTRODUCTION Cloud computing is one of the most unequaled innovations of all time. Being one of the most common terms in IT currently, it has a huge impact on how businesses are conducted today. It has helped spawn startups in various new industry verticals, forcing the existing conglomerates to acclimatize and adapt quickly to survive in the innovative environment. In past few years the need for computing resources and data has increased tremendously. In everyday life the use of computing resources like Operating system, environment, software's, infrastructure, etc has grown. Also the storage requirement to store work data has increased drastically. A means to manage and provide these computing resources and storage facility is 'Cloud Computing'. Being said that cloud computing is the biggest thing since the Internet happened, which provides various services and deployment modules that facilitate users with their day to day business activities. The proposed paper will make an attempt to make collaboration of two of the main services provided by the cloud that is Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service. Infrastructure as a Service- It is a way of providing infrastructure on demand to the clients. Infrastructure services include servers, storage, network and operating systems, etc. Instead of buying the resources and infrastructure users can purchase those resources as a fully outsourced service on demand. IaaS has certain important sub-categories which include public or private infrastructure or a combination of the both. Public cloud is considered infrastructure that consists of shared resources, deployed on a self-service basis over the Internet. By contrast Private Cloud is a infrastructure that provides various 28

2 services but does so on a private cloud. It allows access to these resources within a specified network and provides a much better security that that of public infrastructure. Platform as a Service- PaaS can be defined as a computing platform that allows the creation of web applications quickly and easily and without the complexity of buying and maintaining the software and infrastructure underneath it. PaaS is somewhat similar to Software as a Service except that, rather than being software delivered over the web, it is a platform for the creation of software, delivered over the web. It is means that provide a base to create users own applications and software s easily. II. PURPOSE The purpose of this paper is to propose the combination of IaaS and PaaS in the form of virtual environment. The objective is to create a software system that will provide a virtual machine along with storage facility which allows a user to perform his particular task according to his requirements. The software system will be deployed on a private cloud so that the host can access his work anytime anywhere within the network.iaas will provide the resources like network, storage and operating system and PaaS will provide a platform to run the clients code on the infrastructure provided. III. LIFE CYCLE 29

3 1. INITIATION: User is provided with login page, where he is authenticated by his user-id and password. 2. REQUIREMENT GATHERING: All the IaaS and PaaS requirements are gathered. PaaS Requirements: Selection of The environment. IaaS Requirements: Selection of the entities required by the environment like storage, RAM,etc. 3. VAGRANT: Vagrant is an open-source software product for building and maintaining portable virtual development environments. In our project it is responsible for creation and setting up the environment through Virtual Box. 3. ANSIBLE CONFIGURATION TOOL: Configuring the requirements given by the user and forwarding the request to the private cloud. 4. VIRTUAL BOX: Platform for IaaS and PaaS services. 5.VM WITH DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT: This module provides a Virtual machine using virtual box and is provided to the user using RDP protocol. 6.STORAGE:It provides storage capacity to the particular user for the selected Virtual machine. IV. PROJECT COMPONENTS 1. RDP Protocol: Virtual Box, the graphical user interface, has a built-in server for the Virtual Box Remote Desktop Protocol (VRDP). This allows you to see the output of a virtual machine s window remotely on any other computer and control the virtual machine from there, as if it was running on the remote machine. VRDP is a backwards-compatible extension to Microsoft s Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Typically graphics updates and audio are sent from the remote machine to the client, while keyboard and mouse events are sent back. This protocol provides remote access of the created VM to multiple users in the network. 2. Ansible Configuration Tool: Maintaining cloud infrastructure can be a challenge. Ensuring compute-on-demand for a large organization requires mobilization and coordination of a huge collection of resources - not just compute, but also networking, storage, security, and more. To manage a cloud infrastructure properly, you need to manage not just the individual cloud services (configuration), 30

4 but also the interactions and relationships between them (orchestration).the main task of ansible is to configure the system for the user. In our particular project we are configuring the requirements given by the user and forwarding the request to the private cloud. It is used for connection between our client and the Virtual Box environment. 3.Virtual Box: Virtualbox is a powerful x86 and amd64/intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is virtualbox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as open source software under the terms of the gnu general public license (gpl) version 2. It supports the creation and management of guest virtual machines running versions and derivations of Windows, Linux, BSD, OS/2, Solaris, Haiku, OSx86 and others, and limited virtualization of OS X guests on Apple hardware. 4.Vagrant: Vagrant is an open-source software product for building and maintaining portable virtual development environments. In our project it is responsible for creation and setting up the environment through Virtual Box. Vagrant file is a file that consist the code with desired operating system, hostname machine address, etc. It also consist a link to the ansible xml playbook which will run and configure the packages required by the VM. IV. CURRENT SCENARIO Every system has individual operating system installed All the required software needs to be installed individually as per need. If a user wants to move to work from new workstation all previous data and software has to be migrated or else all data will be lost V. PROPOSED SYSTEM A platform providing virtual machines to user along with preinstalled required software which can be accessed from any computer into the network (we are currently using private network) So now user can access his machine from any node in the network without losing data as well as software s. VI. CONCLUSION 31

5 The product aims to provide a virtual machine for each user that will be accessible anywhere from the entire college campus along with certain storage space to save the progress of its work even if the user switches between different machines. Virtual Box is being used to setup a private cloud which is an open source tool and will provide a Virtual Machine. On that standard templates of the environment are stored. The tool also provides the facility to create the user's own environment if the template is not already available. As per the request from the user the instance of the operating system is created and stored in the database. After the virtual machine is created it is displayed to the user. For this purpose RDP protocol is used which shares the screen of the created virtual machine with the user on the user machine browser. VI. REFERENCES 1.
