1 FUJITSU Cloud Service S5 Managing Templates and Images This guide describes the process for creating and using Templates and Images on the platform. The platform allows you to clone your Virtual Machines including any customization to create your own library of private Virtual Machines templates for deployment. Templating allows an entire VSYS to be cloned, where as Imaging is specific to a single Virtual Machine. Note: Some settings as discussed below are not included as part of the cloning process. Please Consider the Following: If the template is to include or the image is of a Microsoft Windows VM, then it is necessary to run the sysprep process first. Please see the appropriate sysprep guide from the Portal Library. If a Virtual Machine includes an additional data disk then NO DATA ON THE DISK WILL BE INCLUDED in the TEMPLATE/IMAGE and a blank disk will be deployed with the VM. In order to clone a data disk please back it up after then template/image is created and before the VM is restarted. Please see the guide How to Enable Virtual Machine Replica Distribution from the Library section of the portal. When users create a new VM from a cloned image, a new IP address MAC address and global IP address will be allocated to the VM. Users will need to manually update any of their configuration on that VM that uses this information. When users create a virtual system from the system template, the login password of the VM in the created system is same as the password of the original system. So, if the default login password of the VM is changed before creating the template, the loginpassword of the VM in the system template is different from the one displayed on the My Portal. When users create new virtual system from the system template, the settings of the Firewall and any SLB server are not included in the template and must be recreated manually. VMs being cloned must be in a stopped state. For a full list of constraints and warnings please see the Functional Specification guide available from within the manual section of the portal. 2 How to Create Templates Users can template a Virtual System and then use this template as the basis for a new almost identical Virtual System. The below steps explain how to create a Template: 1. Select System Manager from the Startup menu and choose the required Virtual System. 2. Ensure all VMs are stopped before proceeding 3. Click the Details button 4. 3 3. Give the new Template a unique name. To manage a Template, Users need to provide a System Name, a Description and a Keyword. to search for the Template. The Keyword can be one or more terms used Note: Insert a one character space between each keyword. Select all System Resources (VMs, SLBs, Additional Disks) in the Virtual System and provide a Name and Description for each. Date: 03/08/2016 Page 3 of 7 Copyright Fujitsu Services Limited 2016

4 4. When all information is entered, click the Create button. 5. Confirm the message and click the Yes button 6. By clicking the Open Management Screen button, the Template Manager screen is opened. 5 How to Use Templates By clicking the User Template tab on the 1 st step in Design Studio, Users can access their previously created Templates amd us it as the basis for the new VSYS, rather than a default public template. The template can the be deployed as norma, including the ability to remove or include additional virtual resources to the virtual system. How to Create Images Users can image a single Virtual Machine and then use the image to deploy an almost identical Virtual System. The below steps explain how to Image a Virtual Machine: 1. 7 7. By clicking the Open Management Screen button, the Image Manager screen is opened. From here, Users can check the progress of the Image creation. How to Use Images By selecting User from the Usage pull-down menu (User is the third step on the menu). and deploy as normal.
