3 Hierarchical Sites and Site Maps Users can define the border link to split a network into child sites, or group devices into a child site. Site Maps represent a high-level view of the whole network or a parent site, showing the child sites and their connections. 3

4 Sites Users can: Extend the border devices or neighbor sites from a site on the map. Extend the neighbor sites of a device on the map. Auto link the sites on the map. Highlight all devices of a site on the map. View all sites along a traffic path. Monitor site maps. 4

5 Dynamic Device Group and Link Group Users can set the criteria to search devices in a device group according to the device type, hostname, IP address, vendor, model, serial number, software version, contact, location and configurations. The link group (a group of interfaces) can be defined dynamically or manually. Users can set the criteria to search interfaces according to the interface name, IP address, description, routing protocol, MPLS VRF and multicasting mode. The device group and link group can be highlighted on the map. The link group can be used as a filter for the neighbor extension, so users can map the logical network in application view. 5

6 Map Sharing and Updating Maps can be shared via Enterprise Server or via Windows shared folders. Shared maps on both Enterprise Server and Windows shared folder are listed in the map center. Local and shared maps can be automatically updated in one click and be created in Visio format. Auto map update can be scheduled. The maps can also be automatically exported to Visio. 6

7 Device Icon and Properties Customization Users can select a customized icon for a device type or a vendor-model. Users can customize a device and other network object properties. After customization, the user can import data from other third party systems. 7

8 Spanning Tree and DMVPN Support Users can: Retrieve and parse STP in the benchmark process. Highlight STP blocked ports in the L2 map. Automatically create DMVPN cloud from configuration files. Drag and drop a DMVPN to a map and extend its neighbors. 8

9 SNMP V3 and SNMP Walking Support The SNMP v3 is supported in this release. However, proxy ping via SNMP v3 is not supported yet. Users can configure the SNMP version in the device setting. A SNMP Walk Tool is provided to retrieve all SNMP MIB information for a device. Device Settings 9

10 Multi-Vendor Support NetBrain provides tier 1 and 2 support for all vendors and models with some customized work by the user or help from the NetBrain support team. Live Discovery: NetBrain can discover any SNMP reachable network devices. Monitoring: NetBrain is able to monitor any SNMP reachable devices. Retrieve live data: NetBrain supports retrieving live data (configuration, route table, MAC table, ARP table, CDP table, LLDP, and CAM table) via both CLI commands and SNMP. L3/L2 topology: NetBrain is able to build L3 topology from device configurations and/or L2 topology from the Layer 2 data if the corresponding data is successfully retrieved. Path discovery: Netbrain is able to discover the path if the network devices along the path are SNMP reachable and/or their routing table can be retrieved. For tier 3 support (design reader and parsing of live data), NetBrain supports the following device vendors and models: Cisco IOS Router, Cisco IOS Switch, Cisco Catalyst Switch, Cisco Nexus Switch, 3Com Switch and Cisco PIX/ASA Firewall. Tier 3 support for more vendors is in our roadmap. If a NetBrain customer has a vendor or model that is not fully supported by NetBrain yet, NetBrain promises to provide full support in 4-6 weeks if the customer provides method(s) to access the device and sample data. 10

11 Network Discovery and Maintenance Enhancements Added a global option to allow users to select trim all strings after dot or trim the specified domain names while retrieving the device hostname via SNMP. Added the Last Modified Time field for missed devices in the discovery report. Users can select one or more devices that have not been discovered for a long time and remove them from the workspace or to rediscover them. Added Auto update if new CEs added option to the MPLS cloud definition. With this option checked, the system will recreate this MPLS cloud whenever the workspace is updated. Improved duplicated IP management: by default, the system will enable the interface of the latest discovered device for the duplicated IPs; users can view all duplicated IP addresses on one page; users can check in front of the device interface to enable interface; the last discovered time of a device is shown so users can remove unused old devices easily. 11

12 Benchmark and Live Access Enhancements An option is provided to retrieve module and interface inventory data and STP table data in Server Benchmark. Dynamic Device Groups and Link Groups are automatically updated after the benchmark task is completed. Customized show commands can be benchmarked on the server. 12

13 Live Access Enhancements The device setting is divided into Shared Device Settings and local Telnet/SSH CLI Settings. The Jumpbox is also divided into the server Jumpbox only used by Network Server and the Local Jumpbox. While tuning the live access, the hostname field is set to Unchanged in hostname column if the hostname has not been changed; otherwise, the field is set to the new hostname. This way, users can easily find all devices with new hostnames. While mapping traceroute result, a user can specify the source device of the traceroute results. An option is added to allow the show command template to be saved on the server and hence shared by all workstations. Usability has been improved to define the show commands and to view the show command results. The show command results can be edited and formatted (text font and color). Users can add notes for show command results. For show command results in the Map DataFolder, users can create hyperlinks to point to them in the map note. 13

14 Mapping Enhancements Users can select additional information to be shown on the map from the properties pane. The map highlighting can be exported to Visio in the current release. HSRP, VRRP or GLBP information is shown under the LAN s name on the map. The serial link can be changed from a straight line to a curve. Users can select which neighbors to extend for a MPLS cloud (in release 3.1, users can only extend all neighbors of a MPLS cloud). Users can highlight the interface rate, route propagation, site and link group on the L3 map. The CDP table entry can be dragged onto the map to display their connections. 14

15 L2 Mapping Enhancements L2 maps can be validated and automatically updated. Users can highlight voice VLAN and STP blocked ports on the L2 map. Support auto-link for L2 maps. Support the Map Device Group function for the L2 map page. 15

16 Inventory Report Enhancements Show device inventory information by sites, device groups, or device types. Show device module information and interface information. Import inventory information from CSV file. Create inventory report for the whole workspace or a device group. The report format can be Excel or CSV. Support VSS and Stackable Switch. 16

17 Bug Fixes Failed to show MAC table of Cisco WS-C4900M. After login, the client (Workstation) does not check whether there is an update from the server. Cannot discover the vendor Ovature. Sometimes total device counts are different between OEWS and OEES web page. The switch icons are not adjusted to be smaller after removing the ports from the L2 map. The link utilization is not correctly displayed, sometimes larger than 100%. The HSRP IP cannot be found when diagramming the traceroute result. After the device type is changed and the user clicks validate -> generate button, the device type on the map cannot be changed. When new devices are added into the workspace by importing config files or discovery, the active IP in the duplicated IP window should be assigned to those IPs of the new devices. OE cannot parse the route table of 3750 stackable switch and so it fails to discover the path. The link utilization of 10G interfaces is shown as N/A. Allow the network mask to be 30 and 31 in scan IP range. The gateway server restarts while building the topology. Cannot manually stop building L2 or L3 topology on the web page. Successfully retrieved and showed the nexus route table, but only C or S is shown in the Alg field, other alg values cannot be shown. The system crashed while calculating L2 topology for the LAN segment /0. Failed to get the bandwidth utilization for the POS interface. Based on the configure, the switch port is a trunk port but the system shows the mode as unknown. Server benchmark failed due to the SSH timeout. Failed to remove large amount of devices on the web page due to timeout. 17
