3 Joseph Reddy, Texas Instruments Today s Speakers Joseph Reddy is with the Low Power RF group of Texas Instruments and is responsible for Strategic Marketing and Systems Engineering for software products based on IEEE radios. Joseph has been active with the ZigBee Alliance for several years and is currently the Chair of the Technical Editing team for the SmartEnergy2.0 stack specification which is based on IP protocols. He was also active in development of the RF4CE specification for remote controls applications and is currently the Vice Chair of the Technical group overseeing that effort. Joseph was a co-founder of Figure 8 Wireless Inc. which developed the first ZigBee protocol stack and was since acquired first by Chipcon and subsequently by Texas Instruments. He received his PhD from University of California, San Diego and a BS from the Indian Institute of Technology. 3
4 Jon Adams Today s Speakers Jon does business development at Freescale Semiconductor, and brings over 25 years of experience in communications systems engineering and leadership within standards organizations and industry alliances. He is currently marketing chair and technical vice-chair for ZigBee Health Care ( and has led its Qualification Group as well as having served as Alliance vice-chair and a former board member He is currently the technical liaison between ZigBee and the Continua Health Alliance. Jon is the Freescale lead technical representative to Continua, and is active in the Arizona Telemedicine Council and the Arizona Technology Council. He is on the board of directors of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO) ( which promotes the development of industry standards through collaborative efforts, and holds a board seat on the Arizona Telecommunications and Information Council (ATIC) ( a policy organization which advises the Governor's office on telecommunications matters. Jon s last role at NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory was managing the development of payloads for the Mars Network, an orbiting network of UHF radio relay stations for communications from the Martian surface back to Earth. Jon holds BSE and MSEE degrees from UCLA, and is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the American Telemedicine Association (ATA), and a senior member of the IEEE. He has received medals and awards from NASA, JPL, Motorola and Freescale for his engineering and management excellence. 4
