1 ProtoFMC Safety Precautions Improper use of this board has the potential to damage the carrier board it is connected to. Please read this document thoroughly before attempting to use the board. 1. This board is designed to connect to a FMC LPC carrier board that follows the ANSI VITA 57.1 standard. 2. The ProtoFMC follows the ANSI VITA 57.1 standard, except for the board length and the EEPROM is not included, but the necessary pins are available to connect one. 3. Altauri accepts no responsibility for damages caused by improper use of the board. 4. Gigabit transceiver pins have been included for completeness, but have not been tested for robust operation. 2 Product Description The Altauri ProtoFMC board is design to convert a FMC Low Pin Count (LPC) connector to 2.54 mm pitch pin headers. The board gives access to all the LPC pins including: 68 single ended I/O or 34 differential pairs, I2C pins for external EEPROMs, a JTAG connector, +12V and +3.3V power, clocking pins, present pin and bank voltage pins as a check. Additionally, LEDs display the adjustable voltage selected by the carrier board. The large breadboard also provides a fast and effective means to prototype circuits unleashing the full potential of your FPGA board. 12 Table 10: TP3 Pinout Name PRSNT_M2C_L Pin Header jumper LED Voltage Indicators The Altauri ProtoFMC board also features LEDs to display the adjustable bank voltage (VADJ) that is selected by the carrier board. This allows the designer to quickly confirm that the correct I/O voltage standard has been selected. Pin Descriptions Figures 14,15,16: LED Voltage Indicators LA[00..33]_P, LA[00..33]_N User defined signals on Bank A and can be configured as single ended or a differential pair with _P being the positive and _N the negative when used in differential signaling. _CC User defined signals with this designation should be used as the preferred signals for clocks in source synchronous applications. JTAG header TMS, TDI, TDO, TCK are the standard programming pins SCL, SDA serial clock and data pins for I2C bus CLK[0,1]_M2C_P,N Differential pairs for clock signals, M2C designates that these clock should be driven by this board and received by the carrier card (i.e. clock inputs) DP0_C2M,M2C_P,N Gigabit transceiver pairs where M2C designates the transceiver is driven by this board and received by the carrier, and C2M is the reverse operation. GBTCLK0_M2C_P,N Differential clock pair used as a reference clock for the DP data signals, driven by this board PG_C2M Power good pin is asserted high when VADJ, +12, and +3.3V are within tolerance, and is provided as a check on this board. GA0,1 Signals that provide a geographical address of the module that is used for I2C channel selection. VREF_A_M2C Reference voltage associated with the signaling standard used by Bank A data pins LAxx. It is provided as a test point. VADJ_3,4 Adjustable voltage level power for Banks 3,4 from the carrier board. PRSNT_M2C_L Module present signal. Is pulled low with a jumper to tell the carrier board a module is present.
